dog images

edit

Thanks for already contributing to various dog articles. As you can see, there's still lots of room for additional info on many breeds. About all those images you're uploading, though--Wikipedia requires that the source of the image be listed on the photo's description page and also under what license it is released to Wikipedia. WP can use only those specifically placed into the public domain or licensed under GFDL; all others need to be removed. If you're the photographer, can you please add that fact & date & place taken and whatever other info you have to the photos as well as its license; if they're all just photos that you uploaded from somewhere else without permission, not completely understanding the photo policy before this, let me know and I can remove them again. Thanks. Elf | Talk 23:03, 10 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

No problem--not everyone understands the photo policy the first time around. Elf | Talk 02:24, 11 July 2005 (UTC)Reply
OK, I took them off. You can label photos that you took yourself with a specific licensing tag, like this: {{gfdl}} for the GFDL license, or {{pd}} if you're releasing it into the public domain. To add those notations, or to otherwise change the photo description info, you can just go to the photo's page (e.g., Image:Bulldog2f.jpg) and click Edit this page just like any other page. Looking forward to seeing more of your own photos. !!!!

Image Tagging Image:Bull Staff.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bull Staff.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Arniep 19:02, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
