November 2012 edit

Hello, I'm GabrielF. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Norman Finkelstein seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. GabrielF (talk) 17:46, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wolf, You are welcome to be bold, but you must comply with our three core content policies: WP:Verifiability, WP:Neutral Point of View and WP:No Original Research. The point where your contribution ran into trouble was that you stated certain contentious claims as fact, not as opinion. For instance you wrote: "Like Chomsky, he has been acurately accused of inventing his own facts, and bald-faced lies, in order to argue a point. This type of behavior undermines his alleged status as an intellectual, and has led to valid criticisms of both Finkelstein and Chomsky as being propagandists and disingenuous rhetoreticians." You are welcome to say that a certain scholar accused Finkelstein of something, provided that you can cite a reliable source, but when you say that someone has been "accurately accused" of something, you are implying that Wikipedia has weighed both sides and concluded that the accuser was right and that Finkelstein or his defenders are wrong. While other publications can draw such conclusions, Wikipedia does not. We simply state the different positions in the dispute. This is how we achieve some degree of balance from an anonymous editor community that represents every imaginable viewpoint. Best, GabrielF (talk) 19:01, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Hi, I've taken the liberty of converting the categories you have on your userpage to links to categories, as they're meant to organize our articles, not our userpages ;-) Hope you don't mind and let me know if you have any questions! Snowolf How can I help? 21:17, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

September 2015 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Carole Lombard may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
