May 2013 edit

Hello, I'm MrX. I noticed that you made a change to an article, List of Thurstan College alumni, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - MrX 11:36, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Anagarika Dharmapala may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 04:38, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of Ceylonese organizations with royal prefix may have broken the syntax by modifying 4 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of alumni edit

Hello there. I strongly suggest not creating any more "List of XXXX alumni" articles until the merger proposals are resolved at:

The outcome of those discussions will give you a good indication as to whether or not the community thinks such lists would be better in the main articles. It's always best to expand the section and then break it away later because mergers cost a fair bit of community resources. Thank you for your understanding. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:40, 10 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello there, noted your strong suggestion. List are there and will always get expanded as of any other article on WP. Thank you for your understanding List of XXXX alumni (Wo2gana (talk) 22:26, 12 May 2013 (UTC)).Reply
Thanks for pointing out that other stuff exists. I think that List of St. Joseph's College, Colombo alumni should also not be a standalone list. That, and your three, should be merged into their main articles. I'm sort of curious why Cossde would create that, then propose a merger for your three.
One thing you haven't explained is why visitors would find a standalone list better than a section in the main article. You need a good reason or else all three, (and now maybe four), will be merged into the main articles. Saying "will expand shortly" and "will always get expanded" aren't good arguments. The argument that "merging back into the article until large enough will better help visitors navigate" ought to win the day. Again, what's your reason that visitors would prefer a standalone list? Please, do tell. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:13, 12 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
List is easy to interpret or perceive. Twisting words about other stuff exists, I think this, now maybe four or that or I'm sort of curious why Cossde would create that, then propose a merger for your three is ludicrous. WP is for collaborative editing volunteers around the world (Wo2gana (talk) 01:07, 13 May 2013 (UTC)).Reply
I posted here to seek your understanding and request that you redirect and save us the merger trouble. It is apparent that you won't do that. And, as your edits here have stopped making sense and are evasive, I will disengage. This will be sorted out in the merger discussions. Happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:22, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Your right to be a member of WP editorial community and opinions are well respected. Your understanding is better understood. Engage or disengage at your ease. Happy editing   (Wo2gana (talk) 01:57, 13 May 2013 (UTC)).Reply
I agree that List of St. Joseph's College, Colombo alumni should also be merged. I made a mistake in creating it. I will merge it. Cossde (talk) 12:55, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for May 11 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Rahula College alumni, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Matara (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Chandrananda de Silva edit

I deleted Chandananda de Silva and moved it to Chandrananda de Silva. The references suggest the latter is correct, so I assume it was a typo. Let me know if I am incorrect.--Kubigula (talk) 22:23, 12 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hats off to you Sir. Keep up the good work and appreciate your help.(Wo2gana (talk) 22:29, 12 May 2013 (UTC)).Reply

Cat for deletion edit

Proposed deletion of Category:Royal Preparatory School edit

The article Category:Royal Preparatory School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Since Royal Preparatory School has been part of Royal College Colombo since 1977, the contents of this cat should be included in the cat Category:Royal College Colombo.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on [[Talk:Category:Royal Preparatory School|the article's talk page]].

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. == Nomination of Battle of the Blues for deletion ==

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Battle of the Blues is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Battle of the Blues until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Cossde (talk) 06:11, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

See Also sections edit

Please have a look at WP:SEEALSO. The 'See also' section should not link to disambiguation pages and it should not link articles that are already linked in an article. So, Battle of the Blues should never be in 'See also' section as it's a dab page. And Big Match shouldn't be in the 'See also' section if it has already been linked in the article.--obi2canibetalk contr 17:00, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

The article List of Sri Lankan schools with royal in title has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Possible listcruft. While the schools themselves are notable, having "Royal" in their name is probably not a distinguishing factor. If the topic is deemed notable, perhaps it can be rewritten into an article about Royal colleges in Sri Lanka in general.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please stop edit warring edit

Immediately. Stop trying to force your versions of how Sri Lankan schools should be named. You've already shown on Talk: Royal College Colombo that you don't have evidence for those names (or, rather, you don't have evidence that Wikipedia considers suffiicent) and that you don't understand how to use Google to even start gathering evidence for this. These articles have been subject to years of edit warring about names, and no one has ever provided any reliable evidence to suggest that the current names are wrong. In fact, it's highly likely that you're a returning editor who's been blocked before. Now, go to the talk page of the article or articles you think should be changed. Provide your evidence. Until you do so, I can only assume that your moves/renamings are being done in bad faith. Just like I've told other editors before--I strongly suspect that Cossde is actually "wrong" about how these schools should be named, but until policy compliant evidence is provided, those names must stay. If you want to actually work towards improving Wikipedia, start some discussions; if you want to just fight to get your way, you'll end up blocked like many previous editors.
