Sortable filmographies

Let me know what you think of the filmography of Mallika Sherawat. I think this would be a great idea with the silver frame and the sortable programming on every filmography. They look presentable and classier and would be a great asset on actors with longer filmographies. Please respond to let me know. If you agree, I'm thinking about adding this as a guideline to actor/director filmographies for the project ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 18:24, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

I know aren't Bollywood actresses so stunning!!

Even if they aren't sortable I very much like the presentable format as a standard structure anyway. Somebody I noticed rid of Pierce Brosnan's filmography entirely and left it with a template without any info on his characters/ film notes etc. I'll give it a try adding some time but to clean up every filmography would take years. If there is no objection later I'll add the style to the main actor/filmmaker project page as a suggestive guideline for developing filmographies. Hopefully things will develop.

I've also noticed the hidden award section on people's info boxes now set by default. This is good I think . Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 18:46, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Gubernatorial!

Thanks, knew it was something like that!

Aces

How on earth did you know I did it!!!?? Ahh it was a shambles and the films are sooo cool!!! It was such a mess the plot (how could somebody create something so awful) the best thing was to wipe the slate clean. I've become a great fan of HK film- I find them so funny! -you tube has an amazing amount of Hong Kong movies, The action/martial arts films are just terrific. I'll be doing a lot of work on the film list and cleaning up articles on HK films in the near future. Good work on Hot Fuzz also. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 19:07, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Check out this little concoction of actors : Ocean Shore. They have so much character!!I also think Hong Kong along with Thailand is one of the best locations for film. Any western film also which is set in Hong Kong seems to grab my interest. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 19:22, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

The image of Hwang Jang Lee on the list looks like a Chinese Saruman doesn't he!! Hey the Bond film series is going well. Many on the GA list are Bond. We're currently working on Octopussy ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 19:32, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

John Wayne image

hI Wise you always seem good with images and cropping. Any chance you could crop the black top and bottom of the Image:The searchers Ford Trailer screenshot (13).jpg for me. I want to use it as the main image on the John Wayne article. Saludos ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 12:00, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Not that I can think of at present. It would be super if you could brighten it a little - good thinking. Thanks -also if it can be cropped vertically to remove the tree!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 12:24, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

The contrast is brilliant!! Is it possible though to chop off the tree where his shirt on the right side hits the bottom up vertically. Is this okay? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 12:36, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

It is actually for his main image on the John Wayne page itself. The black and whit eone is not a good image of him at all. I've added a statue of him temporarily which looks pretty good but. Is it not possible to slice the end off without affecting the contours of the picture? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 12:50, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm just previewed it on the John Wayne page and it looks great I'll add it now and tell me what you think ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs

It looks perfect now I think - Thanks!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 12:57, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  The Image Award
Quick thanks to Mr Wise for all his great contributions in image cropping and icon modifying on film and actor related articles and for being a cool wikipedian. Keep up the good work amigo ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 13:07, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

A present for you for always being so cool and quick in requests. Much appreciated =p.s you may want to think about archiving your talk page -its nearly 100k ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 13:07, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Can you chop off the black from Image:The searchers Ford Trailer screenshot (8).jpg and sharpen or brighten it and try to make the Image:NAIA from the Air.JPG contrast brighter for the Manila airport article. I've made some structural changes to Wayne's page ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 11:17, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair do's. See the John Wayne page now and the changes I've made with your adjusted pics and reordering styling etc. Its looking better right? Some time I'll get around to writing a decent biography of his films. Notice it cuts from about 1939 to 1969 with only one or two films mentioned!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 15:49, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

yes that image epitomises everything about the "macho man" western leading man in classic film the hat the gun etc. Its very iconic I think - I threw in a image of rooster from 1975 to depict him later in his career and life - it may need a rationale but I really think it helps the article ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 15:53, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I know. I haven't ever really touched the text at all only just polishing- the article could be written ten times better than it is -it just doesn't flow in places and misses some vital info, Its not bad though and will get there eventually after I put some editing time in. I am a little surprised he didn't win more awards or at least nominations but I guess he did often play a similar sort of character.

Then there are film directors like Martin Scorsese who are critically brilliant and win many awards and great reviews but never quite earn the box office earnings like you'd think. For me he is the best film director on the planet . The Departed won how many Oscars?? yet was way off even the top ten in cinema admissions and gross. Most of the high profile actors who star in his films have to except significant pay cuts for the privelage of working with him. But his films are just too mature for kids or the family which reap all the earnings. Who is your favorite film director today? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 16:15, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Goodfellas was brilliant. For me John Ford, John Huston, Sergio Leone, Alfred Hitchcock, Federico Fellini, Stanley Kubrick, Scorsese, Spielberg and Kurosawa rate amongst the highest of all time. I am familiar with some of the Thai film directors you mentioned - the only thing is I don;t get to see most world films which may be brilliantly directed. In the UK we are far too narrow minded with film. This is why I am a great fan of international film festivals and in general world film on wikipedia as it gives me a chance to at least understand the global picture. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Filipino stuff

Its odd how we often seem to be on the same wavelength. I felt like looking at some Filino articles last night and this morning (they have quite a collection of articles on its traditional musical instruments and stuff -they really are quite impressive! and the airport in Manila etc (with the picture). I gradually happened to come across Lino Brocka and added an info box and image. Then I came across your article and saw the history and it was , well you!!! Later I looked again and you had written a whole new section mentioning him on the festival page. Weird isn't it. !!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 17:04, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't like seeing red links you know -so filled it in ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 17:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

The text in Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Award looks pretty suspicious too. Its a probable copywright from somewhere or other I'd think. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 17:19, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Some idiot deleted Gawad Urian Awards also a while back. I had to just stub it and start it again. Why do they have to delete things? If they'd left a message on the wp film page saying it would be deleted it would have been sorted out. Imdb only lists the film winners I don't know if there are other components to it ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 21:01, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I've now started Small Voices (which I believe was also released at the Bangkok Festival) and Gil Portes -looking through his filmo it links to the film Saranggola which yu edited earlier!!! Every article is connected somehow -your're right. . I'm calling it a day now ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 21:55, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Look at the state of Days of Thunder. Not enough screenshots are there? Quite pssibly the best mainstream film article I've ever seen ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 19:44, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

I've put a lot of work into Philippine cinema the last few days basically because it needed it -terrible condition!!. The List of Filipino films had only about 8 films in it!!!! 95% articles on both filipino films and actors in particular are shocking -really really bad. Nearly every page I have come across has required much cleanup. Its just there are so many actors started but in such a bad way -then you come across one or two which are fully developed!!!. Many of the bad articles contain huge copied imdb lists in backwards order with no wiki at all. I've begun to try to address this. I've started a few films but I can't find any many posters even for recent movies. Do you have any idea if there is a Filipino cinema website with images?. Maybe your connection could find a site?? Google.co.uk picks up almost nothing, ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 13:46, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Cleaning up articles like Tita Duran. The number of films they seem to have produced is huge isn't it. How come there are so many compared to Thailand? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 13:48, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Also google in general brings up little about the films let alone no images. Its such a shame as ther are tons of films -I keep reading that so and so film was highly acclaimed and a classic and all that but I never see any details on it. Would you appreciate it if I started many films without the posters? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 15:35, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

I was planning on adding many but if there is no info on the actual film content itself aside from cast is it worth it? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 15:36, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

I found one sort of which has tons of images and plot summaries which are not on the imdb

It has categories divided by genre not bad.

♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 15:44, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Check out my new article Hinugot sa Langit and Ishmael Bernal. The film is on youtube Now this is classic looking - you can always tell the more respected filmmakers. It is quite a moving film I think judging by the tube clips - melodramatic!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 19:30, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Wow I didn't know that. Censorship is it? I knew China before was censored from youtube as with several other east asian countries-they even used to block wikipedia!! but I wasn't aware of Thailand. Thats a pity. regards ♦ Hairless Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 09:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Shining-kubrik.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Shining-kubrik.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Fair use rationale for Image:Shutterposter.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Shutterposter.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
