Portal:Thailand - List

I'm glad you like the Portal:Amphibians and Reptiles. Feel free to use or expand it.

Re:List. That's an interesting idea and I think it might help motivate editors to improve the Thailand-related lists. Maybe the name "Selected list of the month" would be better than "Featured list" as most of the lists we are going to present won't be featured lists. The real problem is the monthly update. Do we have a lot of good lists? I'm a bit afraid by the fourth or fifth month we'd have ran out of lists of good quality especially if there're no new lists coming in. This is exactly the problem I had with Portal:Cambodia which ran out of good articles and pictures, and I ended using so-so stuff that I wasn't pround of. But we can give still it a try first anyway. I think it's worth trying. I will go ahead and set up the section soon, maybe today, if you don't mind. --Melanochromis 19:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

"Selected list" is a better word choice. If you're willing to set it up and try it, that would be awesome. I'll try to keep my eye out for lists that are worthy of promotion. — WiseKwai 12:06, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Rspromotion2006logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Rspromotion2006logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:38, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Actor?

HI just wondering if you know of the guy I'm talking about Lim Kay Siu. Any idea where I can get more info on him? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 14:58, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Wow it was really filmed in Malaysia. For a film about a Thai king that does seem odd - I thought I remembered not seeing Anna and the King on your list of films made in Thailand -I guess film companies can't always get their own way - Tomorrow Never Dies was intended to be filmed in Saigon and Man with the golden gun was intended to be filmed in Cambodia but both were filmed in Thailand!!!! I'm sure if you saw him you'd recognize him instantly - I can't even find a google image of him - in fact I think he seriously looks the real deal to play a bond villain =he'd make a superb eastern asian blofeld in a new bond film. He played the nasty North Korean in Night Watch (1995 film) also. I must admit I was quite impressed by him. He looks quite evil and could picture him with my Mr Biggleworth cat -I thought there might be a place for him at SPECTRE.

I am not 100% certain of his nationality - all the evidence I could find would suggest Singapore rather than Hong Kong. Once again imdb is a failure -no birth dates, nothing!! I've been taking it easy the last few days and may have a complete wiki break soon -my enthusiasm does fluctuate from time to time. Hope you are well ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 16:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Ah great you found a source!! I was right about Singapore but ten years out with the age estimation - I guess the bald head and evil expression makes him look older!! Cheers ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 17:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Thai films

Hi wise I started Ghost of Mae Nak -seen it? -it looks like a great film!!! do you know if it has a thai title or is this the universal title. Also is there a WikiProject Thailand tag?? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:39, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm feeling oriental today! I also came across Butterfly Man which I started - but I can't seem to adjust the poster size. Maybe I'm just tired. Anyway there are a few names -directors, cinematographers which can be stubbed tomorrow. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:57, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi wise. Sorry to keep bothering you but I recently joined WikiProject Cambodia which I believe you have some involvement in or associated with. I started Khao-I-Dang and Narath Tan a Cambodian sculptor and stubbed a Cambdodian actress. However I am uncertain over the image for Khao-I-Dang as it is an image of the camp taken before it was shut and is therefore unreplaceable but is still copywrighted I think. Any idea of the what licensing should be used? Also aren't Cambodian articles tagged with both the Cambodia and South-East Asia projects??. I hope you're pleased with my contribution in this area -thanks for helping my Thai articles ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:20, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

OK thanks. I am surprised that WP Thailand doesn't exist yet. If you are thinking about its establishment I'll be second to out my name down in support -I want you to know this. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:39, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Neilyoungheartofgoldprairiew.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Neilyoungheartofgoldprairiew.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 22:38, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Cambodia

Great to have you on board and I love how our Cambodian cinema coverage has tripled in a couple of days. Well done for getting the first Sihanouk film onto Wikipedia in particular. With you and Blofeld around, my article assessment drive will never end. I think I'm just managing to assess more articles than you two are writing this week :) Let me know if there's anything I can help out with. Cheers, Paxse 16:41, 13 July 2007 (UTC) <message cross-posted on Blofeld's page>

Hi Wise. I am thinking it night be wise to create a Category: Films about the Khmer Rouge -whether Cambodian or international to categorize films that discuss it ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:48, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Fear and Loathing

I was just referring to the fact that the image had been tagged for administrator review of its fair-use status; I found that it had a fair-use rationale for only the use in the film. Separate rationales would need to be crafted for any other use of the image. (ESkog)(Talk) 20:31, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Cambodian Film

Just had to drop by and say well done for your excellent work on expanding Cambodian film coverage. It's incredible I think you have octupled the number of Cambodian films on Wikipedia in about a week! Great stuff. Paxse 18:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

wow thats odd I was going to develop this article later in the week! As you know I've been doing some work on Cambodia. Great! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 07:58, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Good work buddy - I've just been admiring the excellent The Burnt Theatre that you have worked on. I have a feeling that Cambodia has produced a far greater number of films that imdb is letting on -some sites talk of the Cambdoian golden age of film with those actor biographies etc yet imdb does not even acknowledge them or many of the films. For instance List of Azerbaijani films -imdb only records about 10 films I think when actually there are like 1000!!!! -I used azerbaijani wikipedia which has many articles on them odten with a high number of screenshots. When I first became acquainted with the Internet I must admit I was awed by imdb but over time my opinion of it has declined considerably. Have you any idea where there might be more Cambodian films? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 08:10, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Its also strange I was going to discuss creating a new Cambodian cinema template -but you beat me to it!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 08:11, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Heres a cool one -Cambodias answer to Nick Nack (Villechaize) Loto (actor) ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 08:33, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm about to start See Angkor and Die -I thinks its quite critically acclaimed film- rotton tomatoes has it reviewed so hopefully we can get a good article out of it ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 08:41, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi very good work on those other Rithy Panh films, between us the situation looks ten times better. I have added some content which fills in the gaps. I started Chum Mey , Mom Soth , One Evening After the War , Le papier ne peut pas envelopper la braise . Also started My Village at Sunset, An Ambition Reduced to Ashes and Roland Eng -hey how did you know about the Cambodian ambassador thing -he didn't even have an article. Your knowledge is terrific!! I can't believe the King of Cambodia was a film director also!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 10:47, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

I also created 2007 Malaysian Porsche theft -I hope it qualifies for an article -this should be listed under current events for South-East Asia perhaps? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:12, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations on the DYK - now, can you stop it, please? My damn watchlist (90% Cambodian) just went completely insane as all these new editors and vandals started clicking through the links from the article - amazing. I was planning to nominate it myself but I thought the DVD cover would have made it a no no for the front page. Damn all these fair use rationales. Well done! Paxse 18:51, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations again! I was only kidding - don't you dare stop, Sihanouk wrote dozens of films, keep going! Paxse 13:13, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Mr Wise. I and another user have begun sorting out the films by genre in the same manner and style as the lists. We are also merging many of the loose comedy film lists into one. However we don't seem to have an icon for Adventure films. Is it possible you could create one with a cartoon palm tree or something in it? Regards ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 15:47, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

This image would be ideal in a film icon ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 15:52, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

There isn't a stub category for adventure films (if there was it would probably have an icon already) -weird isn't it - I have created tons of films with adventure-film-stub and it was always negative - I had to use something different!! like action-film-stub -it might be worth adressing this to her pegship sometime -surely there must be many adventure stubs ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs

You seem to be a mind reader - I was going to bring it to your attention that the Vietnamese film coverage is very poor and most articles in a shambles and Vietnamese cinema might need doing next -but you already started!!!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 16:15, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

See the List of adventure films the image looks even better in the film!!! -it looks terrific cheers. Oh I have long been aware of the Vietnamese film industry and the poor coverage on wikipedia. The film Beautiful ... somehting or other with the geographical film poster looks amazing! I have been aiming to try to sort out Vietnamese film but we can't do ten things at once!!! Malaysia and Indonesia also. Thanks again ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 16:23, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

User:Andrezbanas began sorting out the action film lists but they have been tagged for deletion. Apparently what is an action film is POV and subjective!!! You may feel like leaving a comment ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 10:59, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

The "Burnt" Theatre

Ah, - absolutely yes Mr Wise. Preah Suramarit National Theatre and its designer Vann Molyvann both warrant articles!!!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 13:08, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Indonesian film

Looks like we have a much needed contributor to Indonesian film from User talk:Fashionjunkiez. Some of his new articles seem pretty good - if he could begin to develop it -this would be a major bonus don't you think? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 17:48, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Fred Bradstadt has continued to alter the templates obsessively. Now all the film list templates have a left alignment and for the American and Indian one quite frankly looks awful and makes it looks cluttered and odd. What is wrong with the center alignment? But you appear to agree with every one of his "refinements"? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 10:30, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Well I've reverted the American one ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 10:41, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I've reverted both of them by adding the text align center -it looks fine now. Yes I agree he Fred has done some great work in cleaning up templates and standardizing templates across wikipedia - I am aware of his work -this is appreciated but not all his edits are perfect. Nobody is perfect!!!. Everything edit he does I know is in good faith and intention -occasionally as someone said in a discussion that he may tread on some peoples toes occassionally - its trying to come up with a format that the world is happy with and agrees upon .

Oh I just wanted to know what you thought of the film Bulletproof Monk - I saw it last night ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 11:12, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I quite liked it -with the Tibetan theme and all. Probably because Chow Yun Fat was in it -terrific actor. -Great charisma. I have started expanding the Vietnam list also. But I'd imagine imdb is missing tons of films ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 16:42, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
