Disagreements on deletion

For some deletion processes, such as WP:IFD, the discussion is officially "closed" at some point. For rfu images, there really isn't an official closing -- although some would say that the discussion is unofficially closed when the image is deleted. Deletion of lists of films by country

STRONG KEEP!!!!!!: What are they doing? These information lists particulalry with the navigation box are extremely useful for cinnecting to important parts of culture of different countries on the planet. I am attempting to fill in a gaping hole in knowledge. If I wanted to know about Filipino culture for instance and their film industry I would expect to be able to access a page with infomration of their films. But according to that Calton (he is out to stop me from everything I do) they should be deleted what? . these lists provide a bassis, a framework to connect to information about the golbal film industry attempting to ake wikipedia non Anglo American and covered world film. Calton beleives any film not produced in the USA is utterly non nontale so this is why he is attempting to delete it.

THousnands of long lists have already been created on wikipedia e.g Every actof the UNited Kingdom. So why not just delete are signifivant part of the whole encylopedia. Wikipedia is about instant access to information. These lists are an important part of culture of these countries and it provides not only related to film but culturally. The navigation box is particularly useful to connect the films of different countries together and learn about different films produced once new notable!! articles are started. There is a gaping hole in information here and to provide such knowledge I beleive these lists are a start. Just because one of two people such as Calton are clearly not interested in foreign film doesn't mean it should be deleted. The lists provide knowledge of existing films once they are compiled. So does this mean that the List of acts in the United Kungdom there are thousands and all other lists will be deleted too because wikipedia is not a directory? Acess to infomration is so important and if you just use the categories you will not connect to other countries film culture at the touch of a button. List of films is no different in importance from a countries cultural view as List of Dutch politicans or list of Portuguese poets.

I would like on wikikipedia knowledge of such films and culture to be accessed methodically and cleanly with an A-Z. The differenc ein the end is that it will not serve purely as a directory but a basis for quick information when article are created. How can you not see that this is information wise very important? I mean other lists exist like List of manga superheroes I mean why is this important? I don't see you all deleting this. It is for the love of infomration and knowledge to PROVIDE ANYBODY ON THE PLANET WITH INSTANT FREE ACCESS TO THE SUM OF ALL HUMAN KNOWLEDGE If you prevent me from comiling these needed lists you are seriously letting the progress of this project down. I see that you have already done brilliant work on Thai films they look excellent well done. I am currently compiling the ultimate list of missing films by country which will take several months to complete which when articles are done the lists I created before will become a time line order like your Thai film list. I would be extremely grateful if you would help out most notably to Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article/List of missing Thai Films. Film language categories

Hi, thanks for the message. I see where you're coming from. The difference between a Category:Films by country and Category:Films by language is more pronounced in other areas of the world so the reason for having both categories is more obvious. Films by country is intended to link in with culture, even if a Thai film was made in another language, it would be made with Thai sensibilities. Whereas as a Thai language film is just that. You could look at it as art vs science. A film made in Thailand is Thai art, a Thai language film conforms to the rules of Thai grammar or it wouldn't be understandable to a Thai-speaking audience wherever in the world they may be.

Basically what I'm saying is that they both pertain to Thailand but it different ways and that is reflected in the categorisation. Thai films can be traced through its categories to Thai culture and finally Thailand itself. Thai-language films also link back to Thailand but via Thai language.

I hope this makes sense, I realise its a bit convoluted. Mallanox 23:45, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Hoverfish, you did an amazing job on the amount of work you did on the article. I've been scourging the Internet looking for sources, knowing that this is the only thing the article still needs. I should be busy over the next few days and might not be able to help, but I'll go back to the article within a week to continue to add sources. World film template

THanks for adding those extras I was about to do that. I think the template is looking amazing now. I really do think the flags brighten it up but if you all want to remove them but just keeps the other pictures I won't object too much. Asia has thesub branches now. Now once the boundaries of the topics have been set with the template and the entire lists of missing films actor and direcotrs is compiled we then have a new fraemwork to work within illuminating the entire topic of film on wikipedia. I will be creating a far far smaller template in a similar style for the cinema of each country connecting list of films, cinema chronology, actors, directors and cinematographers of each country. Unlike the world template This would be added at the bottom of most film and cinema personality pages connecting the film or actor or director in question to the cinema of his country. See List of Argentine films I am compiling this and every country list will look like this. Film Polylogies

Hi, since you are working on these lists, can you give opinion on what is to do with List of film series and List of film hexologies to dodecologies. They should be merged and the first should be turned to be what it says rather than what it is. But since there had been some discussion (The Tramp tried to do something, but was bot-reverted and then someone stated no further change should be made(!!)), maybe we should post on the article's talk. Sleepy eyes of Death article

Hi there, the problem is very minor but on the 'Sleepy eyes of death film series' section their is the title and then a brief bullet pointed description undrneath, to make it clearer to read for people who do not have excellent vision, maybe you (or me!) should make the title for each numbered episode in Bold Text and then leave the bulleted pointed text below that as it is, this would make it slightly clearer for readers at first but the decision is totally up to you! The Last Waltz

I think it should easily pass the GA process. As for FA, I'm not as familiar with that process. FA would probably frown on the many fair use images and the lists. They're very careful about the style of the prose. They might also want additional cites. Oh, I just noticed you didn't use cite web or cite news. Both GA and FA will want that so go get them here. (You could also take a look at categories to see if anymore apply (like English language films and American films).)

As for the automated peer review, here is a link to it. It's easy to use once you install it. Here is what it generates when I run it for the article:

See I'm not very sure on the whole fair use images in FA. I know that they are frowned upon because they are not free (Wikipedia is supposed to be "the free encyclopedia"), but I don't know how many would be tolerated. re: Jansch assessment blunder

Thank you for pointing that out. And I will apologise the Bluewave and hope he doesn't feel I demoted his hard work. For some reason, in my aging 'thinker', I had it in my head that the progression went Start-B-A-GA-FA. Upon reading it further, and not having any history of my own with other project assesments other than the Guitarist Project, it alomost seems like the A and GA should be switched. I only say that since the GA tag is usually the last step in an article going to FAC. Whereas an "A", by my reading anyway, can be handed out by anyone who may read the criteria slightly different then what it was intended. I have noticed, when comparing "Start" articles and "B" articles that, occasionally an article that qualifies as a Start has been given a B because the passing "assessor" was a semi-regular editor of the article which edged a skewed opinion.
