Speedy deletion nomination of Robert L. Sufit

References in the lead

That Wood is considered a candidate to succeed Stevens has been widely reported, is not controversial, and is more than adequately verified in the body text, which is not so long that the citations are far from the claim in the lead. By my reading, WP:Lead militates against their inclusion:

“ Because the lead will usually repeat information also in the body, editors should balance the desire to avoid redundant citations in the lead with the desire to aid readers in locating sources for challengeable material. Leads are usually written at a greater level of generality than the body, and information in the lead section of non-controversial subjects is less likely to be challenged and less likely to require a source; there is not, however, an exception to citation requirements specific to leads. ”

Also, the shear number of references was totally overblown. Her being mentioned is, as I said, not controversial. A few citations is enough. -Rrius (talk) 00:35, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

You really need a better understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines. In addition to WP:Lead, which I suggested above, you need to read WP:own and WP:Verify. Finally, you need to understand that it is irrelevant how long the article has existed in a given state. If it needs improvement, it should be improved. -Rrius (talk)
