I have nominated Action potential for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Pyrrhus16 18:48, 20 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

You rock

edit

Delighted to be home; but where next, indeed?

You fucking rock! Seriously. --Moni3 (talk) 20:52, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

And you're the best pal, ever. :) I learned the meaning of another four-letter word today, beginning with "L". Willow (talk) 21:17, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Lust? Lube? Lava? Lark? I'm agog. Wtf am I to do with my user page now? How odd to find my attitude completely adjusted by seeing your username on my watchlist. Indeed. It's a good day. --Moni3 (talk) 21:19, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oh wow, how happy is this moment! It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life - a warm welcome back Willow. And I'm feeling good! Geometry guy 08:22, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's lovely to be back. :) I'm sorry that I was away so long, but it was necessary. Your warm homecoming messages brought back how much I loved being here; and your kindnesses while I was away - such as promoting the problem of Apollonius to FA and helping to save Action potential - moved me deeply. Only in the agony of parting do we look into the depths of love.
I won't have much time and energy to edit for a few months, but I'll try to contribute regularly in small ways. But how? I'm not sure yet. :P I had been thinking of working on angle trisection or Sophie Germain, or making Universe a Good Article at long last, but I seem to have lost my notes for those articles. :( But a new chapter has opened, a new page is turning. What a happy surprise! I feel like I've regained a cyber-sister. Tim Vickers (talk) 17:46, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Tim! :) Your warm greetings made me happy and sad at once: sad to have been away so long and happy to be back, among other things. I feel the same way; I hope we'll always be cyber-siblings. :) Willow (talk) 16:54, 30 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
There is absolutely nothing I can add to those articles, except my down-home "You go on with your bad self, girl" kind of support. I'm trying to think of what I might consider doing next. Something old? Something new? Or dedicate six solid months to talk page babbling and reconstructing my identity from a purposeful and productive Wikipedian to someone really useless and annoying. Otherwise, my God. Look at that tablecloth! That fills me with all kinds of emotions. I could do that if I wanted. Really. I hope. --Moni3 (talk) 17:53, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
if you think the tablecloth is fine, wait until I set the table with flutes of champagne and pull my quiche out of the oven... :) Willow (talk) 16:54, 30 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yay! --RelHistBuff (talk) 08:54, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

WOW. YAY. When the banner up top said "We've made some changes to Wikipedia", I didn't dare hope they meant this. I don't suppose you're eager to do a peer review already, are you? (It's been waiting so long for the right reviewer to show up.) Welcome home. We're very glad you're back. Scartol • Tok 12:35, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hey BF! Sure, I'll be delighted to review your work on a world-famous architect, although — as you probably remember — I don't have a very critical eye. :P I'll do my best for you, though. :) It's so good to see you here again, Willow (talk) 14:20, 15 May 2010 (UTC) PS. Alas, I'm not part of the Usability updates; for one thing, they're already in beta, and I'm stuck in alpha. ;)Reply

Weighty request

edit

Our article Weight is currently disfigured by {{Disputeabout}} and {{Expert-verify}} tags. I've tried to clear up a considerable confusion by clarifying the issues, supplying a sufficient amount of citations of reliable sources, and otherwise cleaning up the article. Could you, at your convenience, review the article and, if in your independent opinion it meets reasonable encyclopedic standards, remove the tags (whilst, of course, applying any improvements you see fit to)?  --Lambiam 15:54, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hoxne Challenge

edit

Hi WillowW, you might be interested in a project we're running here at the British Museum over the next week - The Hoxne Challenge. Perhaps you'd be able to help out and sign up? Witty Lama 14:32, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for thinking of me, Liam! I'll be glad to help out however I can. Willow (talk) 16:24, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I see you've beat me to some work on refining the alt text for images on Hoxne Hoard. ;) Good job on that; I was impressed. :) {{Nihiltres|talk|edits|}} 07:09, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Nihil; it's good to see you again, too! :) And thank you very much for the yellow daisy. Willow (talk) 13:20, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Alpha Helix

edit

Hi WillowW, I was reading over the edit history of the Alpha Helix turn angle per residue equation, and it seems that you were the one who introduced it. I'm looking for the source of this equation, do you happen to remember/have it? The current source associated with the equation does not contain it (I have the book). I'm doing research on protein geometry and this would be very beneficial for my research. Thanks! Mechatenshi (talk) 20:14, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, I'll send you an e-mail tonight. In the meanwhile, you can derive it yourself quite easily by projecting the chemical bond vectors onto the unit sphere, assuming perfect sp2 and sp3 bond angles; the cosine of the tetrahedral sp3 bond angle is −1/3. Talk to you soon! :) Willow (talk) 11:32, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I didn't notice that you were back sooner!! Textile arts misses you. - PKM (talk) 00:54, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, PK! I've missed you and the TA WikiProject, too. I'm touched that you remember me after so long., but I guess that's no surprise; I have sweet memories of you, too. :) I'm trying to contribute as I can, but I'm really pressed for time in real life. Take care, Willow (talk) 11:11, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well of course I remember you - the whole project was your idea! I can relate re: real life; I was mostly offline for a few months myself. You take care too. - PKM (talk) 22:33, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
