Henry Doubleday

I changed the existing links from Henry Doubleday to Henry Doubleday (1808–1875). The other Henry Doubleday (1810-1902) was a starch manufacturer and horticulturist who only published works on horticulture. Now that I look a little more closely it is evident that the pre-existing link to Henry Doubleday was wrong and it should in fact be be Edward Doubleday. As in "Doubleday, E.,1842 : Characters of undescribed Lepidoptera". Is this your understanding too? I will try cross checking the Henry Doubleday (1808–1875) attributions with Wikispecies and known publication dates, and bear in mind that it was Edward who travelled to America and worked on the BMNH collection. Hi I saw you just edited Woodhall Lincs (and improved it) thanks! Im a bit new, learnt Infoboxes today - but I edited {Eastville, Lincolnshire|Eastville]] earlier and added the photo with it, and it came up with some ugly markup text and the image is offcentre. Completely new abortion proposal and mediation

In light of the seemingly endless disputes over their respective titles, a neutral mediator has crafted a proposal to rename the two major abortion articles (pro-life/anti-abortion movement, and pro-choice/abortion rights movement) to completely new names. The idea, which is located here, is currently open for opinions. As you have been a contributor in the past to at least one of the articles, your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

The hope is that, if a consensus can be reached on the article titles, the energy that has been spent debating the titles of the articles here and here can be better spent giving both articles some much needed improvement to their content. Please take some time to read the proposal and weigh in on the matter. Even if your opinion is simple indifference, that opinion would be valuable to have posted.

Bamboo and WP:ENGVAR

Hello William Avery. I would like to ask you about this edit. My reading of WP:ENGVAR, especially WP:RETAIN says that the first major contributor sets the variety of English for topics with no strong national ties. The first version of the article seems to be in US English or something close to it. There is a minor discussion going on on the talk page but it may have gone stale. One contributor is asserting a consensus for British English which I do not see. There does seem to be a few editors who are defending British English in the article but I am not sure from what grounds they are arguing. On what grounds did you make your revert in light of the original version of the article? It would seem to me that following the MOS here would be a good thing and might tone down the English version changes in the article especially since those editing to US English seem to have the MOS on their side. I reverted on the grounds that it was tendentious and unexplained. You don't seem to have picked up on the part of WP:RETAIN that says"Such debates waste time and engender controversy, mostly without accomplishing anything positive", so just leave it alone. Would you tell me why you would accept the unexplained and incorrect edit (per MOS) by Astro775, which was basically a reversion of my edit? This person is very inexperienced and most of his edits have been reverted.

The only cast iron reasons to reject are given at Wikipedia:Reviewing#Reviewing_process, none of which I judged to be present. It's not otherwise intended as a reflection of the merits of the edits or editors involved.

Log here shows 'Auto-review: requires "autoconfirmed"' also called "Pending changes level 1 protection". This means only 'autoconfirmed' is needed, which both users involved have. Looking at the review log I don't understand why his last edit was automatically accepted, because it included preceding changes by IP users. You could try asking at WP:PUMPTECH. thanks for checking--appreciated. however, there was no 'temptation' involved -- it was deliberate. as i stated, the info was put in there for *added clarity* -- which means that parens were perfectly acceptable for implied info. however, since you didn't get that, it's prob best the way you edited it.
