Kingston upon Hull edit

Hello, thanks for the recent updates to the article on Hull. There are a group of editors including myself, Keith D, and several others, who have worked hard on the article over the last few years to make it a good article, and we're always happy for more help.

I've gone ahead and modified some of your recent entries. I invite you to take a look at the following Wikipedia guidelines and policies:

It would also help other editors like myself if you started using the edit summary and discussing major changes on the article's talk page.

Keith and I are happy to answer any questions you might have; he and I have been around for a while now. Thanks again, Northumbrian (talk) 20:35, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello again edit

Nice work on updating the Hull article, lots of fresh information in the Economy section. Just a few tips on formatting, style, etc. that will help keep the article at GA status in all aspects, and are also useful and courteous:

  • Again, I might ask that you start using the edit summary; this is extremely helpful to other editors, especially on the article history page.
  • When adding wikilinks, it's a good idea to make sure that they go to the intended target, not a disambiguation page or a completely unrelated topic. I've just gone through the Economy section and made these changes; you can see the proper wikicode to ensure that the displayed text shows what you want (for instance, for the Co-operative, Peacocks, and Lush; the links you added just pointed to the disambiguation pages for those terms; now they point directly to the intended article).
  • If there is no appropriate article, for example, for Wilkinsons, it's best not to link to it at all.
  • Finally, to keep the formatting for the reference footnotes at the end of the article consistent, it might help to start using the citation templates. That link shows how they're used and in which situations; we mostly seem to use the {{cite web}} and {{cite news}} templates the most. There are also existing examples of their use all through the article.

All for now; again, thanks for the new material, and have a great weekend. Cheers, Northumbrian (talk) 22:40, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
