Online recovery edit

Your new article has some serious issues. The article talks about "online recovery", but gives only vague information about what kind of online recovery groups might exist. It seems to indicate that there are fringe groups advocating for online recovery outlets, against the advice of the mainline recovery community. Without more concrete examples of such groups (or evidence that such groups even exist), the article will likely be deleted. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:51, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have to ask where you're going with this. It appears to be an article created in whole from your own imagination, rather than anything based on published sources. Is there really any model of online recovery groups? Is there really any controversy or legal problems, other than what you choose to assign? Your comment on the talk page talks about a "new consensus building". I have no idea what that means, but it sounds like you're trying to write an article that, because it's on Wikipedia, will provide the background for some other argument. Remember, Wikipedia is not your personal soapbox, nor is it a place to publish your own original research. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:14, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Online recovery edit

The article Online recovery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The term "online recovery" as discussed in this article does not appear to be an existent concept, but rather a concept the author is trying to build legitimacy for. The references given are not to online recovery groups, but rather to online resources discussing the recovery process.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:41, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Removed the deletion tag as permitted by Wikipolicy. With respect, the page is being cleaned up according to the edits requested. More will be added. Will fix the errors as sought by thoughtful editors. Wikiworld2 (talk) 22:33, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
    • The article still contains only vague generalities, not specific cited examples. It sounds more like you are trying to build a case for online recovery than describing an already notable topic. Please understand that this is not what Wikipedia is for. I'll keep an eye on how your article develops, to see if you can address these concerns. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 02:45, 22 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Online recovery for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Online recovery is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Online recovery until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:47, 22 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Category deletion edit

The following categories, Category:People self-identifying as alcoholics, and Category:People self-identifying as substance abusers, were deleted last month. I understand the reasoning around BLP, but i disagree, and think these are potentially very valuable categories if well maintained. I dont know if this can be discussed in a deletion review, as the deletion process seems to have been followed properly. I created Category:People self-identifying as problem gamblers, which i suppose should also be deleted. should we then delete categories for people with bipolar disorder, or depression, for the same BLP reasons?Mercurywoodrose (talk) 08:38, 10 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Houselink Community Homes edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Houselink Community Homes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Fiddle Faddle 17:19, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is the first of a series of newsletters for Wikiproject Medicine's Translation Task Force. Our goal is to make all the medical knowledge on Wikipedia available to the world, in the language of your choice.

Spotlight - Simplified article translation

Wikiproject Medicine started translating simplified articles in February 2014. We now have 45 simplified articles ready for translation, of which the first on African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness has been translated into 46 out of ~100 languages. This list does not include the 33 additional articles that are available in both full and simple versions.

Our goal is to eventually translate 1,000 simplified articles. This includes:

We are looking for subject area leads to both create articles and recruit further editors. We need people with basic medical knowledge who are willing to help out. This includes to write, translate and especially integrate medical articles.

What's happening?

I've (CFCF) taken on the role of community organizer for this project, and will be working with this until December. The goals and timeline can be found here, and are focused on getting the project on a firm footing and to enable me to work near full-time over the summer, and part-time during the rest of the year. This means I will be available for questions and ideas, and you can best reach me by mail or on my talk page.

Wikimania 2014

For those going to London in a month's time (or those already nearby) there will be at least one event for all medical editors, on Thursday August 7th. See the event page, which also summarizes medicine-related presentations in the main conference. Please pass the word on to your local medical editors.

Integration progress

There has previously been some resistance against translation into certain languages with strong Wikipedia presence, such as Dutch, Polish, and Swedish.
What was found is that thre is hardly any negative opinion about the the project itself; and any such critique has focused on the ways that articles have being integrated. For an article to be usefully translated into a target-Wiki it needs to be properly Wiki-linked, carry proper citations and use the formatting of the chosen target language as well as being properly proof-read. Certain large Wikis such as the Polish and Dutch Wikis have strong traditions of medical content, with their own editorial system, own templates and different ideas about what constitutes a good medical article. For example, there are not MEDRS (Polish,German,Romanian,Persian) guidelines present on other Wikis, and some Wikis have a stronger background of country-specific content.

  • Swedish
Translation into Swedish has been difficult in part because of the amount of free, high quality sources out there already: patient info, for professionals. The same can be said for English, but has really given us all the more reason to try and create an unbiased and free encyclopedia of medical content. We want Wikipedia to act as an alternative to commercial sources, and preferably a really good one at that.
Through extensive collaborative work and by respecting links and Sweden specific content the last unintegrated Swedish translation went live in May.
  • Dutch
Dutch translation carries with it special difficulties, in part due to the premises in which the Dutch Wikipedia is built upon. There is great respect for what previous editors have created, and deleting or replacing old content can be frowned upon. In spite of this there are success stories: Anafylaxie.
  • Polish
Translation and integration into Polish also comes with its own unique set of challenges. The Polish Wikipedia has long been independent and works very hard to create high quality contentfor Polish audience. Previous translation trouble has lead to use of unique templates with unique formatting, not least among citations. Add to this that the Polish Wikipedia does not allow template redirects and a large body of work is required for each article.
(This is somewhat alleviated by a commissioned Template bot - to be released). - List of articles for integration
  • Arabic
The Arabic Wikipedia community has been informed of the efforts to integrate content through both the general talk-page as well as through one of the major Arabic Wikipedia facebook-groups: مجتمع ويكيبيديا العربي, something that has been heralded with great enthusiasm.
Integration guides

Integration is the next step after any translation. Despite this it is by no means trivial, and it comes with its own hardships and challenges. Previously each new integrator has needed to dive into the fray with little help from previous integrations. Therefore we are creating guides for specific Wikis that make integration simple and straightforward, with guides for specific languages, and for integrating on small Wikis.

Instructions on how to integrate an article may be found here [3]

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:UNFOC small.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:UNFOC small.jpg, which you've attributed to http://unfcanada.ca. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 07:42, 12 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm some details,

If it's your own work, please include {{own}}, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant.

If not's your own work please provide as much sourcing/authorship information as you are able to.

File:Valensyeehawfarm.jpg needs authorship information edit

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Valensyeehawfarm.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Wikiworld2}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:23, 3 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:SpencerCreek1.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:SpencerCreek1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Proposed deletion of Wikipedia Live edit

The article Wikipedia Live has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Looks like something that was WP:MADEUP by the author.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

A few words about sourcing and other issues edit

Hi. I hope you don't mind a few words from me about your recent additions to Wikipedia (and I hope you didn't find the mass of automated messages above too daunting). Firstly, thank you for wanting to help improve the encyclopedia, but there are a few issues with some of your edits. The main one I'm seeing is the addition of unsourced material (or material that has citations but the citations do not support the content). To choose a relatively simple example, there's your addition of a "Muslims" section to the article Food bank, which said...

(''[[Muslim food bank|Main article]]'')
A '''Muslim food bank''' is an organized prayer room, office or neighborhood center that caters to the necessary provisions of [[halal]] foods.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-27324224 |title=What is halal meat?|publisher=BBC.com |date= |accessdate=2016-06-19}}</ref>

Firstly, there's no Muslim food bank article, so you can't suggest that as the "main" article from which this section was derived. Secondly, the provided link says nothing about Muslim food banks, and so cannot be used as a source for your addition - it's just an article about halal meat. To be acceptable, your addition would have needed a citation to a source which talks about Muslim food banks (not just halal food) and which supports the content that you added.

There are quite a few other additions you have made which were similarly unsourced, but I hope this example will be sufficient for explanation of the problem.

There is also another, potentially more serious, issue, and that's the additions you made to CJMR. In that, you made multiple serious accusations against the radio station and against named individuals associated with it (I won't repeat them here and I ask you not to either), and you provided no source to back up your accusations whatsoever. Your additions were clearly defamatory and blatantly in breach of Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy - and I have to warn you that if you repeat anything like that again you are likely to be quickly blocked from editing.

Anyway, I appreciate you have some difficulties (which you have mentioned), but I also hope you can appreciate this explanation of why some of your additions were not acceptable and have been reverted. If I can help in any way, please feel free to contact me on my talk page. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:09, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Wikipedia Live edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as Wikipedia Live, is not in accordance with our policies. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Wikiworld2, your second unblock request doesn't contain any reason for the reviewing admin to consider lifting your block. I strongly advise you take down that unblock request and take the time to make sure your next unblock request addresses the reason you were blocked. Otherwise, I'm afraid your talk page access may be revoked. --Yamla (talk) 13:52, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • I was trying to think how to respond and offer some help, but Yamla is right - no admin will accept that unblock request. I'd like to answer the points you make, but I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about with most of it -- disability, efil4zanggin, Color of law, surveillance systems, I honestly can't make any sense of any of that. But what I can do is address your claim to have a right to create whatever pages you want here. You do not have any rights here whatsoever, just privileges which can be revoked by the community (or by its representatives). The two articles you complain about were deleted because their content was apparently entirely fabricated from your own imagination, and you provided no sources to support any of it - Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and only carries verifiable information, and you are not allowed to use it to post your own made-up stuff.

If you want to make another unblock request, please have a read of WP:GAB, and I strongly urge you to make sure you address the reason for the block, and only that - and you leave out your apparent conspiracy theory accusations. You have had me, Yamla, and Jpgordon all respond pretty firmly to what you have been doing now, and I like to think we are all reasonable and easy going admins - but if you continue in your current direction, it is inevitable that you will lose the ability to edit this talk page too. Speedy deletion nomination of File:HMSSwitchcraft.png edit

A tag has been placed on File:HMSSwitchcraft.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". File source problem with File:Highway97Caravan.JPG edit

Thank you for uploading File:Highway97Caravan.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open! edit

Hello, Wikiworld2. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Exuma sailing.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Exuma sailing.jpg.

Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 28 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Picco Studio edit

The article Picco Studio has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:N; not notable. Reference (dead) seems not about the studio but a person.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.   Template:User WRAP facilitator, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. You are free to edit the content of Template:User WRAP facilitator during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion.
