P.S. Wikipedia is about free knowledge. Anyone can edit in Wikipedia. I'm not sure what you mean by hiring someone "for a Wikipedia editing project". Do you mean editing in a wiki, instead of in Wikipedia ? I don't know how you picked me, and I didn't get your e-mail. You might have mistaken me for someone else here in Wikipedia.
P.P.S. As an administrator in Wikipedia, I have to advise you that many Wikipedians are quite "territorial" when it comes to their userpage, and even regard any editing of their userpage by others as "vandalism". I don't mind, but you may want to leave other Wikipedians' userpage alone. Messages should go to talk pages only.
Gerson Lehrman Group
editHello. Thought you may be interested in contributing to this short page: Gerson Lehrman Group. Happy editing. :-) -- PFHLai 03:59, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
- Excuse me, Tess. I didn't mean "put the ad there". It's an entry in an encyclopedia. Not ad space ! You, as an expert on your own firm, are welcome to edit and improve the page, but not like that ! -- PFHLai 14:30, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
re: your Msg on my talk page
editThank you for the messages. I am a new Wiki user and have tried to talk to people in order to hire them for this project. I will try to email you again. I am looking for someone who is very familiar with editing Wikipedia pages. GLG will have a Wikipedia page with a document containing summaries written by various doctors. This person should also have a background in healthcare so that they are familiar with the medical terminology but will not be expected to contribute to the page. Does this sound like something that you could do? We will pay you for your time (about 4 edits over 2 weeks). Please let me know and feel free to call me at 512-651-1797 to discuss further. Thanks!!! - Hello, Ms. Furman. I think Wikipedia could use more contents in the biomedical fields. I am adding stuffs to Wikipedia, anyways. So I suppose I can help and add your materials along the way. Your company is paying for this ? Hmmm.... I hope the materials to be added are not promotional, nor anything against Wikipedia policies. (Please see WP:NOT.) And, please understand that, in a wiki, we have almost no control over how long any contribution stays unchanged -- a very short time if someone disagrees with the contents ! Hope this clarify things. -- PFHLai 15:56, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
Hello, you obviously have been leaving messages on several user pages. I have previously participated in other on-line medical opinion-research sites and so I had a look at the Gerson Lehrman Group entry, although I remain a little unclear on how your group operates. Like User:PFHLai's comments above, I am slightly wary of how Wikipedia comes into your group's activities. Whilst it is true that anyone can create any page they like, lists per-se are discouraged and anyone can therefore nominated a page for deletion. WP's existence is not for others to form lists for their own purposes, but for creating an encyclopaedia. Lists therefore are allowed only to help in this single purpose, eg 'Category:Physician Wikipedians' or the formation of the Doctor's mess (ie groups of like-minded wikipedians with a collective interest in a sphere of knowledge, who together can work on WP). A group might quite correctly help create lists of topics they feel are stubs in need of expansion or topics that have yet to be created. If your clients need the list of physicians who contribute to WP, look to Category:Physician Wikipedians or Wikipedia:WikiProject Clinical medicine, so again I am a little unsure of what list you envisage creating here on Wikipedia.
With all that said, I am both a Doctor and contribute regularly to WP, but do not seem to have received any email from you as you indicated you would be sending. Please therefore do try and resend you email via the link on my user page and we can take things from there - David Rubentalk 00:44, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
