Guinea pig
editAs it seems you're new around Wikipedia, I just wanted to explain the reasons for reverting to the original infobox image so you can understand that is not just one editor's arbitrary preference. To begin with, when making bold changes (generally something to be encouraged, but with care) to a Featured article, it is usually best to discuss them. Featured articles (those with the star in the top right corner) have been deemed the very best of Wikipedia as they stand. This is not to say that changes may not be necessary, but extra care and thought should go into any bold changes of a Featured article. Second, as to the differences between the image themselves...
- We try and steer clear of the more "cutesy" images for biology/species taxonomy articles. Getting Wikipedia articles accepted as serious resources is difficult enough, but is doubly difficult if a species' article appears to be a resource primarily for/by pet owners and animal lovers.
- The original image is of better photographic composition.
- The original image demonstrates some of the vast array of appearances that domestic cavies display.
Those are some the more concrete reasons why the edit was reverted. Thank you for your contributions, and again, welcome! VanTucky 19:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
The guinea pig image
editIf you want this image in the article, you could try to find a place for it further down inn the article. It appears suitable for the article and should not casue to many problems. You could discuss it on the talk page as well. If you are having any problems, let me know, as I see you are a new user. welcome! —Gaff ταλκ 00:28, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- * Make a note: this image is the lead image on the Dutch Wikipedia. —Gaff ταλκ 00:31, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
