I'd suggest moving the "species/subspecies" debate up, and to ont first define it as "a species" (I actually think the consensus now is that it must have been a subspecies - because of the interbreeding). also the sentence beginning with "neither" is way too long and windy and could be simplified a lot.·maunus · snunɐɯ· 06:09, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot, lot, lot for your great support. I 'll keep going and follow your advice. BTW all links are fine so far - i updated a number of dates. ATBWikirictor (talk) 06:35, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I also think a sentence on behavior in the lead. I would mention discussions of technology, fire, speech and symbolic culture without siding for or against. One might mention that there is no signs of any technological advances being made by neanderthal man over the course of their existence. This static nature of their technology is something that is often suggested to be characteristic of their cognitive funcitoning relative to sapiens.·maunus · snunɐɯ· 10:13, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Also, I dont think the link to the NYT article supports the statement that there is no consensus why they became extinct. I would say that it is more relevant to mention that neanderthals competed with homo sapiens as they moved into Europe and that the Iberian peninsula was where they survived the longest. ·maunus · snunɐɯ· 13:00, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I initially put it in because i wanted a source for the low 28 - or 26.000 year extinction mark. I think numbers are always the biggest problem, because virtually ALL sources at ANY topic have different numbers - makes me insane. We know of course there are multiple causes for the extinction and dates vary considerably for most regions, with Spain probably the most recent date. Please correct and edit at will - i am not a native speaker...there always will be issues Thanks Mate!!!Wikirictor (talk) 13:27, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi! What is your idea about "Discovery"? Should i include, that it took time, experts (C. Lyell, G. Busk etc.) and more fossils (Spy/Belgium, La Chapelle-aux-Saints) to turn the debate? ThanksWikirictor (talk) 03:24, 27 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
