Welcome! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Thank you for contributing edits that were made in good faith, but have been deemed not to contribute positively to the article. These edits have thus been reverted. Wikipedia's page on unacceptable additions may explain why. If you'd like to experiment with the syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles.

Some good links for newcomers are:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and a timestamp. If you need help, check out the Teahouse, ask the Help Desk, or place {{Help me}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

August 2021 edit

Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Redwood Shores, California have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:12, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

They are not promotional and are from valid websites, why should they be removed? Many other Wikipedia articles such as Los Altos Hills, California also contain similar statements and FACTS.

Correct, this spam is in many articles and is constantly being published by reputable publications. They are facts but not all facts are included in these articles. This happy stuff does not provide any substantial information on the city and so does not contribute to the article. Please read your welcome message on how you can contribute but stop trying to put this stuff back. Cheers, Fettlemap (talk) 19:40, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Status quo edit

Your edits to Los Altos Hills, California and Atherton, California depart from the status quo and are contested by other including User:SunDawn. It is your responsibility to establish consensus on the articles' talk page, rather than repeatedly undoing other users reversions. Information on talk pages is available at WP:TALKPAGE. You also seem to be confused about the nature of WP:SOAPBOX. The information in question is sourced from the United States Census Bureau, which is perhaps as independent and third-party as a reference can get. Whether this information is relevant to the lead section is another conversation that I think is entirely appropriate to begin on the articles' talk pages.
