Kimberley Hunt is an American journalist and news anchor. Currently on television station KUSI-TV in San Diego, California.
Biography edit
Hunt was born in Ventura County, California, to Vesta and Harry H. Hunt, Jr., raised in Napa, California.[1] Her father was a United States Marine Corps veteran, who served in the Korean War, and then spent 30 years, and rose to lieutenant, with the California Highway Patrol. Her grandfather was a United States Army veteran, of both the Mexican Expedition of 1916 and World War I, and a constable with the Ojai, California Police Department.
Kimberly Hunt is a graduate of San Francisco State University. She is married to Billy Ray Smith, Jr., former San Diego Chargers linebacker and current co-host of The Scott & BR Show on XX Sports Radio. Hunt and Smith have a daughter, and they live in the San Diego area.[2]

During college, she worked as a radio news reporter for KVON/KVYN Radio (KVON-AM 1440 - KVYN-FM 99.5) in Napa, California.
After graduating, Hunt went to work for ABC Network News as a researcher for Peter Jennings during the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco. At the close of the convention, she began working as an associate producer for ABC's Monday Night Football. During her more than 20 year career, Hunt has interviewed sitting U. S. Presidents, Oprah Winfrey, and other military, political and business leaders nationwide. She has reported live from the Oscars, Super Bowls, political conventions, and many more national events.[1]
Hunt began her on-air television career at the CBS affiliate in Salinas, California, KMST-TV Monterey-Salinas Televsion, channel 46, (now KION) in Salinas.[3] She came to San Diego in 1987 as an anchor for ABC affiliate, KGTV. After 15 years at KGTV, Hunt joined the KUSI News team in October 2002.[3] She currently anchors the 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 pm weeknight newscasts. She is also a host of the weekend show, San Diego People.[1]

Hunt's excellence in broadcast journalism has earned her two personal Emmy Awards for Best Investigative News Story and Best Feature News Story. Her contribution to other reports and newscasts have also garnered many more Emmys. Hunt has earned other awards including a Golden Mic, for her special Postcards From Home during the Persian Gulf War, which linked local Marines with their families via videotaped messages. She was also presented with the State of California Attorney General's Crime Prevention Award.[1]

Hunt volunteers in the San Diego community. She has been Mistress of Ceremonies, for such organizations as Dia Del Sol (United Cerebral Palsey),[4] The San Diego Burn Institute,[5] and the annual lighting of the Tree of Life, in support of Mama's Kitchen and the fight against HIV and AIDS. [6] In April 2007, Hunt helped to launch the city's first annual Sleepless In San Diego, benefiting The San Diego Rescue Mission.[7] Because of her father and grandfather, Hunt is also active with numerous law enforcement organizations. She serves as emcee for San Diego's annual Shop with a Cop, which pairs officers with underprivileged children, to provide them with holiday gifts.[8]
