Welcome! edit

Hello, Wiki12rt, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited was Gigablast, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Speedy deletion nomination of Gigablast edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gigablast, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Unforgettableid (talk) 05:44, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Gigablast for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Gigablast is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gigablast (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. GregJackP Boomer! 16:41, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:00, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Who are you? edit

Dear Wiki12rt,

You seem to have arrived out of nowhere in order to start writing about Gigablast on Wikipedia. You have never introduced yourself. If I may ask: who are you, and who is your employer?

Please reply below. Please sign your post with four tildes.

Cheers, —Unforgettableid (talk) 18:54, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

September 2013 edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary with every edit. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks!   Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Gigablast. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.   Hello, I'm Unforgettableid. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Gigablast because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Unforgettableid (talk) 05:50, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

All of the information provided is non-promotional, but rather factual and completely supported by reliable, mainstream third party sources. Gigablast is probably the most noteworthy alternative search engine after google and bing in the United States. Indeed there are over 1,000 books in a google book search for 'gigablast' that reference it. do you dispute any of these claims? have you bothered to actually look at the citations or are you just throwing templates around? just because you personally haven't heard of a service or product does not mean it is not noteworthy. also, multiple IPs involved in the past deletion were shown to be from a single user, who then got their account deleted. if you bother to investigate the previous discussion as to why it was deleted and click on all the user names you will see that there are accounts that were deleted for that reason. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki12rt (talkcontribs)

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Gigablast. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. GregJackP Boomer! 15:32, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

i did not create this page myself. as you can see on the Talk page for the gigablast wikiepdia page, it states that the content was take primarily from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Macrakis/Gigablast which was likely a combination of efforts from many editors. also, the speedy deletion notice was put up in error, as is discussed in the talk page, there was a malicious IP that caused the gigablast page to be deleted in 2008. please read the talk page for more details. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki12rt (talkcontribs)

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Gigablast. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you.
