Hi. I saw that your last edit to the page was 13 minutes ago, quite a long time when talking about fixing mistakes in an article. You have made the same error (adding an extra column) two times before, errors which I had to fix because no one else did. I would advise you to not complain at me but instead take it as a note that you should use the preview button a lot more. That's an interesting bit about the attendance at the Lok game, especially given that the lower league games never generate numbers like that. Impressive. I know them well enough, thanks, and I'm a competent writer/researcher/etc. That's not an issue. I feel my complaints are legit, but haven't been pounding all over making a huge deal of thing with everyone. I point you again to the Arsenal FC page, which was a featured article. I removed this image from the hockey puck article, since it was immediately below a freely licensed image and this one was being used under a claim of fair use (and a questionable claim at that, since it used the {{logo}} tag but was not being used to illustrate the Toronto Maple Leafs). It's there to tie into and illustrate the point (from the first paragraph) that hockey pucks are typically marked with team logos. That's a common practise in professional, semi-pro and junior hockey. As distinct from most other sports that don't emblazon their balls (or whatever) with team logos. The only all black pucks you might see are practise pucks or those used in house league or recreational play. Logos on pucks are part of the culture of the game (and they make a nice souvernir). Jelly bean "frame"

The reason the image appears to you to have a "frame" is possibly because you're using a browser that is not completely compatible with PNG graphics, so the transparent background to the jelly beans picture instead appears white instead of transparent. I'm unable to convert it to a transparent GIF as I promised (Photoshop won't open!). --Brandon Dilbeck 01:50, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

I've been following the Bundesliga a bit, got interested in the German game, and decided I could make a contribution here at Wikipedia by updating the articles on German football clubs. So, starting with the A's ...

You may have noticed I tag a link on each article for The Abeits Guide to German Soccer which is a great website run by a guy named John Dwyer. I use that or the German Wikipedia entry as a starting point for most of the articles, then visit the website for each team (some have really nicely done histories, some take themselves too seriously, others could care less) as well as a couple other German football sites, do a general web search for extra info, logos, etc., check with some reference books I have, put it all in a pot and stir. It's been a fun project.

VfB Oldenburg and Göttingen 05 both have decent history sections on their home pages. Are you a fan of those clubs? I see you were the original Oldenburger and that I clipped some stuff that should be worked back in. Sorry.

As an encyclopedia article it works well enough. There's an easy to follow club history that should be digestible for both fans and casual readers. I'm not big on achingly detailed articles that list all of the managers, tell you what they had for breakfast, and discuss whether or not that was a good decision. Nor do I think that an encyclopedia should evolve into a fan page - that's contrary to the neutral point of view policy of Wikipedia and that kind of thing can be linked to.

Too much "stuff" and the loss of an easy to follow narrative and neutral tone significantly reduces the readability of an article and alienates users who simply are not interested in that level of detail. Adding material of that nature at the bottom of a general page under separate headings or sub-headings lets someone explore in depth without being so intense up front.

I'm content to add stuff as I come across it, but not inclined to vote for a major fix. Go back and look at the versions of July, August, or even January and compare them (i.e. read them all through) to what's there now. There is considerably more material and it is still readable. TSV 1860 Munich and Templates

I haven't had cause to build a template from scratch. The only one I ever put together was based on the football kit and club templates. I just took copies of those and modified them to make a field hockey kit.

I'd start with a copy of each of the necessary template files to your own personal page. Keep a clean original file, make copies and re-name those to whatever your project is and edit and test those. So the first part of the job is just a file management exercise.

From there I just did my coding by example from the original withour re-writing the thing from scratch. That's probably the best way for you to go. You'll also learn as you go that way. Wiggy! 00:46, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

It's all yours! Glad to see someone making use of it. There is a wide selection of shirts available at Template talk:Football kit that you can reference or copy to your own template page. To make new patternes I use Adobe Photoshop. Just start out with a clean copy of an existing pattern, modify it to suit your needs, and save it under a new name.
