Thanks for shortening your signature. A template isn't the most efficient way to do it, but as long as it's shorter, all is well.

Anytime, good sir. I also notice that we patronise FPC often. It's probably coincidence that Andonic, Arjun, you, me and perhaps a few others we know, but I forgot whom, vote in FPC. Oh, and just a little note...the Fighterbay has been constructed. It's pretty small now, though, and it isn't really worth looking at if you're in a hurry...and I also noticed that a lot of featured picture candidates have popped up during my absence...probably another coincidence...ah well. -- Altiris Exeunt 09:22, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your signature

edit

Hello there, I was wondering if you would please modify your signature to conform to the guidelines laid out at Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages. The general guidelines are that signatures shouldn't contain images, they shouldn't contain unnecessary internal links or any external links, and they shouldn't be unnecessarily long in Wiki source. The reasoning for this final bit is that overly long signatures tend to overwhelm the actual comments in edit mode, making it hard to track down and respond to specific comments. You can fix your signature by removing any images and external links, any unnecessary links (like links to Wikipedian organizations, articles, or subpages in userspace), and removing excessive color, font, and formatting code. Thank you. --Cyde Weys 19:10, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adding on to Cyde's comment, templates aren't allowed either (unless you subst them). You should also remove the link to EA because it is now an essay about its days of being an organisation. JorcogaYell! 13:25, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're still using a templated signature. Did you not notice that I edited it in an attempt to point out to you the problem with this method? I could easily have written "I like to shoot kikes" on it and you'd be getting hate mail by the bucketload right now. Please stop using this template and go and clean up all the places where it is already used. - brenneman 00:26, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree. It would be best to just shorten your sig. Oh and Brenneman, if you did something like that, it seems to me like it would violate WP:POINT. Tennis DyNamiTe (sign here) 23:28, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yikes! That was poorly worded on my part: I was attempting to highlight what I though obvious, that someone malicious wishing to smear Why's good name and vandalise lots of pages at once could do so by inserting that example text. Not me. I mostly reserve my malicious urges for my spouse. - brenneman 12:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've shortened it slightly, but I can't get it legal (changed the font for the supped bit, changed the color codes (they'll still turn out the same), removed Esperanza and removed the tag that makes the writing bigger than the writing around it. But, I'll remind you, it's STILL illegal. JorcogaYell! 00:06, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

/* Looks at Why1991's contribritions, sees message is not getting through */ Are you aware the the developers actually made a software change to stop people doing what you do? Ignoring the most powerful force in the wiki-verse is a really bad idea... So, while I am under normal circumstance playing the "good cop" in the Cyde/brenneman duality, I'm willing to make an exception: If you use the templated signature again, I will block you until you foreswear doing so. I'm aware that's unpleasant, but sweetness and light seems to be doing very little good. You have not even taken the time to participate in this discussion. - brenneman 12:23, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for liking my userbox. By the way, the paradox is like this: "Can an omnipotent being (someone who can do anything) create something too heavy for him to lift (he can lift anything, but he can create anything)? So the answer? Who knows. :-) With Cu |8 er, I thought you meant User:Cute 1 4 u (a sock). By the way, here's the definition of "leet", and I don't see anything about computer talk. Explanation please? | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 13:01, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your sentence: I prefer not to use computer talk myself or slang in real life, because I like to try to be as sophistcated and formal as possible when talking as you can tell by my expansive vocabulary in this sentence, but sometimes my environment gets the better of me. can be improved. .

My improved version: I would rather not, if possible, type in computer slang, or it's real life varient, myself, as I enjoy sophistcation, as well as formality, when speaking; this, you may clearly realize while reading these sentences, as you may, if you so choose, tell by the advanced vocabulary in the phrases. Alas! my surroundings often reduce me to nothing but a street scoundrel; peer pressure comes upon me as if a bolt of lightning... I collapse.

I would add another devilish grin here, but passers bys might think I'm mad. :-) AndonicO Talk · Sign Here 13:06, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

That you're unclear on the implications of the templated signature. The thing that makes me think this is that you blanked the template without changing any of the places it is linked, thus futzing up talk page discussions all over the shop. You do understand that templates are live substititution? That blanking the template blanks it everywhere you used it? I'm sorry if there is some hostility/misunderstanding/whatever here, but perhaps we can start from scratch. If the following is insulting because you know it already, please forgive me:

  1. Putting into a "subject" page curly braces {{target}} puts whatever text is on the "target" page inside them onto the page they are used in. Wikipedia:Template namespace explains it.
  2. Anytime the "target" page gets updated, this gets updated on the subject page.
  3. If you want static contents on the "subject" page than use {{{user}}} [at] {{{site}}} per Wikipedia:Template substitution.

Hi! I'm Ral315, editor-in-chief of the Wikipedia Signpost. It appears that you have not edited in at least a few months. To avoid spamming your talk page any further, should you be on leave, your name has been removed from the Signpost spamlist. If you wish to continue receiving the Signpost on your talk page, please leave a note on my talk page to that effect, and I will restore your name, and keep you on the list indefinitely. G'day, I speedy closed that image you nominated for featured picture status. It was far below the minimum size requirement and quite soft, so practically zero chance of success. I'd assume it isn't too difficult to get another shot as it is listed as least concern and seems to be found over a wide area of the united states. You might try WP:VPC.
