I tweaked this one a little from the TFAR version; how does it look? Two questions: was this one of the first library-building, literary, debating, or scientific societies in the country? (I see the sources aren't online.) Also, did the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind move in when it was first founded in 1870, or later? - Dank (push to talk) 00:33, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- Dank, thank you for your attention to this TFAR. According to the offline sources cited, the society was the first organization of its kind in the present-day state of West Virginia, and one of the first in the United States, which I would assume would mean it was first library/literary society/debating society/scientific society. All the sources say specifically "of its kind." The society donated its Romney Classical Institute campus to the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind. The state accepted the donation, and the school opened at the society's former campus in September 1870. February events and meetups in DC
Greetings from Wikimedia DC!
February is shaping up to be a record-breaking month for us, with nine scheduled edit-a-thons and several other events:
- On Friday, February 12, NPR will host a Black History Month First Edit event.
- On Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14, we're working with the Wiki Education Foundation to hold a series of four edit-a-thons at the AAAS 2016 Annual Meeting.
- On Tuesday, February 16, we're holding the Smithsonian American Art Museum and American University WikiWorkshop with Professor Andrew Lih's class.
- On Saturday, February 20, the Smithsonian American Art Museum will host the African American Artists Edit-a-Thon.
- On Friday, February 26, Howard University will host its second annual Black History Month Edit-a-Thon.
- On Saturday, February 27, we have three different events. In the morning, we're holding an Accessibility Edit-a-Thon at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. In the afternoon, we'll host our second February WikiSalon at Cove Dupont Circle, followed by our monthly dinner meetup at Vapiano.
We hope to see you at one—or all—of these events!

Naming customs in the south
Hello, West Virginian -- I'm glad to see you've resumed editing after your wiki-break. I was just reading a comment on another editor's talk page, and I thought you might be able to help. It's this discussion: User talk:Yngvadottir/Archive 9#"Middle name". Yngvadottir mentioned naming customs in the southern part of the U.S., and the need for sources, and you're the only editor I know of who knows anything about the south. I know it's not your area of interest, but I thought if you had time, you might be able to help the editor who posted the original question there and may be willing to work on that article. That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. Forty-seven competitors move into this round (a bit shy of the expected 64), and we are roughly broken into eight groups of six. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups.
Twenty-two Good Articles were submitted, including three by 
Cyclonebiskit (submissions), and two each by 
MPJ-DK (submissions), 
Hurricanehink (submissions), 
12george1 (submissions), and 
Cas Liber (submissions). Twenty-one Featured Pictures were claimed, including 17 by 
Adam Cuerden (submissions) (the Round 1 high scorer). Thirty-one contestants saw their DYKs appear on the main page, with a commanding lead (28) by 
Cwmhiraeth (submissions). Twenty-nine participants conducted GA reviews with 
J Milburn (submissions) completing nine.

- On Friday, March 11, the National Archives will host the Women in the Civil War Edit-a-Thon.
- On Saturday, March 19, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian will host the Color History with the Smithsonian! event, and we'll hold our second Accessibility Edit-a-Thon at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.
- On Sunday, March 20, the American Chemical Society will host the Computers in Chemistry Edit-a-Thon.
- On Saturday, March 26, we'll host our second March WikiSalon at Cove Dupont Circle, followed by our monthly dinner meetup at Vapiano.

Round 2 saw three FAs (two by Cas Liber (submissions) and one by
