Thanks for the "welcome" message, but it seems a trifle unnecessary after 15 months of editing and 2730 edits! Are you an overenthusiastic bot? PamD 09:36, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I see it's now been removed by Riana. Just one of those things. PamD 09:39, 29

No, Riana appears to be mistaken, read my unblock WelcomeMachine 09:54, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just got tagged and in my case the welcome message comes about six and a half years late. The sentiment is appreciated, but I suspect some heuristics need fine-tuning somewhere. :) Bryan Derksen 09:37, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, thanks for the welcome message. I didn't really need it, however. It would be better-suited for editors who are new, of course. You can simply check an editor's contributions or their user page to get a good idea of how long they have been at Wikipedia (at least under that user name), though checking their contributions is better. I'll see you around. Flyer22 09:41, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I will make sure I welcome newcomers as well, but I will also endeavor to welcome those who missed out the first time WelcomeMachine 09:54, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh and could someone please undo all of Riana's reversions that were taken under the false premise I was a vandal, I believe some users have a welcome message to get

Welcoming long-established users

I see that you have just welcomed User:Bryan Derksen, one of the longest-established editors on Wikipedia. I'm not sure Bryan, or any other user who has been here for many years, needs welcoming. -- The Anome 10:03, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is a courtesy for those who failed to be welcomed in the first place, both to show that we care all users get equal treatment and to provide recognition their extensive editing accomplishments. 121.217.59.107 10:05, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's generally the people who are already present at a place who welcome the newcomers, rather than vice versa. New users will really appreciate being welcomed; long-established users might find it a bit strange. -- The Anome 10:08, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Have no worries, I will ensure that I also welcome newcomers. I also would hope that established users would be able to see through the strangeness and recognise that I am recognising them for their hard work and ensuring that they receive the basic warmth from the project. 121.217.59.107 10:10, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
