Welcome! edit

Hello, Weissespumpernickel, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Urban planning, have removed content without an explanation. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can write {{helpme}} below this message along with a question and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Flyer22 (talk) 15:44, 22 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Flyer22, as I described in the 'talk' session of the article, the paragraph under 'Global Urban Planning' is everything but not encyclopedic. It is actually part of the comments of the talks and it reflects the opinion of the commentators. Read yourself: "No urban planning I am aware of is dealing with this on an interstate regional basis for urban clusters such as the Bos-Wash corridor let alone on an international global level. We haven't even begun to seriously address climate change let alone the urban planning for it. Cities such as Boston, New York, Washington DC., Norfolk, VA, Miami and New Orleans will be experiencing 2 feet of sea level rise by 2050 and another 2–3 feet of sea level rise by 2100."
I guess it was a mistake from the contributor who just enclosed his comment as paragraph. The topic of urban planning is pretty tricky - if you read the paragraph about Global Urban Planning, you will actually see that this is really confusing and anything but academic.
Let me know how to proceed to replace this non-academic paragraph.
Thank you! Weissespumpernickel (talk) 15:56, 22 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi, you've used the {{helpme}} template, which should be used only if you have general questions about how to edit at Wikipedia, since it will bring random editors to your talk page. If you are trying to contatct Flyer22 directly, please do so at the user's talk page. Alternatively, if you want to discuss your edits with other users, you can post on the article's talk page. In this edit it appears you removed a large block of content a portion of which was sourced, without providing an edit summary. For most other editors going through their rounds, this appears disruptive at a first glance, and if I had to guess, I'd suspect that this is why Flyer22 reverted your edit. Thanks a lot for the insights, Cyphoidbomb! Weissespumpernickel (talk) 15:23, 23 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Ricardo Bofill Taller de arquitectura Walden Carbonell.tif edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ricardo Bofill Taller de arquitectura Walden Carbonell.tif. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 09:38, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Fut.Perf.! Thanks a lot for your comment and your detailed explanations. I reviewed all details presented and the material mentioned as well as the alternatives found; it doesn't seem that straightforward that there is a so-called alternative. Some pictures of Walden building were released; however they are not representing the building as a whole but only some parts of it (a piece of the facade, a snapshot of the patio). If we intend to precisely document the architecture topics, I would assume the added file is useful. I will follow the steps you mentioned and I would be happy to hear about other contributors on what makes sense to keep! Thanks for the heads-up; as we're collectively working on a few articles about architects these days, it's great to get aligned on which content is relevant or not. Hello, thanks for the note and the help! I'm fixing the discrepancies now as I got the free-licence confirmation to upload the pictures on Wikipedia. Weissespumpernickel (talk) 08:06, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Ricardo Bofill Taller de arquitectura Corso Court Prague Czech Republic.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ricardo Bofill Taller de arquitectura Corso Court Prague Czech Republic.jpg, which you've attributed to RBTA communication department. OTRS pending since January. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:57, 7 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
