FYI conflict of interest guideline edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. You may also wish to consider changing your username, to avoid giving the impression that your account is to be used for promotional purposes. Regardless, doing so does not exempt you from the proscription against editing articles in which you have a conflict of interest. Thank you. – Athaenara 03:29, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for spamming or advertising. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

You have been blocked from editing this encyclopedia because you have shown that your sole interest in it is to attempt to use it as a vehicle for promoting VRL Financial News. – Athaenara 04:02, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I would like to know the reason for blocking my id. I have never acted as sockpuppet of any id, I have clearly mentioned my identity in the first communication itself. All I want to do is create pages for the magazines purely based on the information about them, and not for any marketing or advertising purpose. I only requested to allow me to update the pages so that they can adhere to the Wikipedia policy of sharing information. Our magazines have existed for many years, the oldest one being from 1875. All I am asking is for some guidance and cooperation. I think this is unfair treatment to a person willing to contribute something for informational purpose. I would really like to know and discuss the reasons, and if possible hope to getting treated fairly. Thank you.

Decline reason:

You are being treated fairly. Nobody is allowed to write about themselves or their companies on Wikipedia. --jpgordon::==( o ) 17:52, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
