Zeitgeist The Movie

Thanks for pointing that out. I've salted the page. Just a little note: In the future, it helps to use the optional parameter of {{db-repost}} − e.g., {{db-repost|Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zeigeist the Movie}} — when the re-creation is under a different title; this helps admins to find the original deletion discussion. In any case, thanks for pointing out the repost! — TKD::Talk 01:18, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

That is a disturbing policy. I've read the discussion at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Zeitgeist_the_Movie and I'm deeply disturbed at the inability of Wikipedia to consider independent media as notable. I would think that a 2 hour film that took a year to research would be at least notable. I understand that you are enforcing what is officially accepted policy but if a film like this can't make it into Wikipedia, either the policy is being misapplied or the policy is misguided. I find this sets a distrubing precedent: Indy media that confronts the mainstream media will not be able to earn "notability" enough to get listed on Wikipedia. The Internet is flowering with excellent new films and Wikipedia seems to be the only place that censors them. As someone more experienced with Wikipedia than I, do you think there is any hope of this changing or is Wikipedia set in its ways? --Lxpk 04:39, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

24 Character Infoboxes

HI, I notice that you are a member of WikiProject 24 and as such I would like to draw your attention to [1]. It is someting I feel quite strongly about, that would affect a large number of articles on 24 characters, which I would like the opinions of others on. asyndeton 19:05, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: Two Articles Of The Same Thing - A Question

The articles claimed two first place finishes at regional events and a ranking of 1063rd at a major event, not very impressive at all. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 01:42, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

No prob, and good call on the COI. The way that major poker tournaments work is that 99% of participants are the suckers who willingly hand over money to the top finishers. Texascop may have actually made some money at a couple of tournaments, but his article will have to wait until at least a top ten finish at a major event. Re: 86.62.20.38 Query

Re your message: That IP is a vandalism bot. Probably an infected home computer. Why a year? Eh, felt like it. Actually, I should probably find out what others are doing with that. I've seen indef, 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year. -- Gogo Dodo 05:50, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Re your message: Not really. Actually, I'm not entirely sure {{tl:blocked proxy}} is all that good of a reason. It's really more like "Infected PC that is vandalizing Wikipedia". I asked if the other admins will settle on a particular block length and reason. Probably won't get a consensus, but we shall see. If you look at the contributions for that IP, you will recognize the pattern on detecting it. Random word-looking edits in a single line, random amount of lines added, always editing the whole article (no section header in Recent Changes), always an anonymous IP, edits in mainspace only, and a very fast edit rate. -- Gogo Dodo 06:04, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

I note your comments, but to be honest I've been watching this user for a while, and I think we're either dealing with (a) a very young user who doesn't understand the concept, or (b) a user who doesn't really care. I can see a lot of edits, but nothing of a remotely constructive nature - I think he'd probably be happier on MySpace! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Giles Bennett (talkcontribs).

Wikipedia:Friends

I would say take it to WP:MFD. The closest Speedy criteria I can think of myself is G2 - Test, but that doesn't quite fit either. Not really Nonsense or Vandalism either. I started to stick a PROD template on it (WP is NOT Myspace), but the PROD template complained in large read letters that it was nto for use in Wikipedia space. So I think that MFD is likely the best place for it. Not fast, but I'm not sure if there is that much of a rush anyway. - TexasAndroid 18:02, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: Tried To Help An Odd Editor And Now Not Sure What To Do

Re your message: Oh, yes, I remember that user name. I saw his request for adminship at various places. I don't think it's really necessary to up the warnings. My suggestion is to nicely offer to help again. If he declines, well, there isn't much you can do then. You can't force him to accept your help. =) (And don't forget that you really are not under any obligation to help). As for the adopting thing, you can nicely point him to the adopter criteria saying something like he might want to read it before he adopts somebody. As for his adoptees, better to leave them alone instead of intervening. I think they will eventually figure things out when he is either unresponsive or unhelpful. He reminds me of another young, eager editor. That didn't turn out too well, but maybe this time it will be different. My main advice would be to be gentle. Being more forceful isn't likely to work. -- Gogo Dodo 06:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh, one more thing... Like I said, you are not obligated to help. If you don't want to help, yet you don't want to strand him, I'm willing to give helping a shot. -- Gogo Dodo 06:34, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Re your message: I see that CattleGirl has offered to adopt him. Instead of jumping in the middle, let's see how she does. One person helping out is better than two, I think. It's better to have a single person as contact. I will leave her a note offering to help out if necessary though. -- Gogo Dodo 04:08, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Bentley Little

The paragraph looks suspect to me. It doesn't really tell me anything beyond that he doesn't like computers (unsourced) and that he is notable. The second link fails WP:EL as rich media (java starts working when I go into the website) although I don't see how the first fails WP:EL (fan sites by themselves don't seem to). Removing reports

Hi. Generally, if it looks (in the user's contributions) like they have been vandalising but have not received sufficient warnings, I would just comment on the report. However, it appeared in those contribs like the edits were made in (perhaps misguided) good faith with only a single warning, so it was appropriate to simply remove the report. I guess commenting or removing reports is just a case-by-case thing, but I certainly wouldn't feel obliged to simply comment on every report that is clearly premature. Thanks ck lostswordTC 01:57, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of Pokemon films

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Pokemon films, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Pokemon films is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Pokemon films, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. CSDWarnBot 03:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

For the record, it was a redirect to a misspelled page. The page with the correct spelling is protected from creation. Forgot to mark the page as such after that had happened, whoops. :P -WarthogDemon 03:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
