Speedy deletion nomination of Grayl edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Grayl requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Vrenator (talk) 13:12, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest edit

Hello Wannagonnagood. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Grayl, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. RA0808 (talk) 14:03, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you remove a speedy deletion notice from a page you have created yourself, as you did with this edit to Grayl. gz33 (talk) 15:24, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for spamming or advertising. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Thank you for your recent contributions, such as Grayl. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, without the risk of speedy deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. Cind.amuse 15:27, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am new to wiki, first day, did not know how to read all the talk messages, am now aware of protocol and procedure, will head previous warnings and try to make proper adjustments Wannagonnagood (talk) 15:58, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Based on your explanation of your understanding and the commitments you have given, and after having consulted the blocking admin, I have now unblocked you. I wish you a fun and constructive time here at Wikipedia -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:33, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

First, what is your relationship with the person in the article that you are trying to create? Second, do you understand that the article in question is now blocked from being created by anyone? If you are unblocked, it will be under the condition that you do not attempt to create an article about that individual. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 16:19, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I now am starting to understand the rules and guidelines here. I am the person in the article. It was not my intention to advertise or spam anyone, but too simply put some information out there. I disagree with some of the conflict of interest issues but can see the validity in being neutral. I will not post a public article about Grayl here again. I would like to ask what would be the proper situation for an article to be written about Grayl here on Wikipedia?Wannagonnagood (talk) 16:30, 27 May 2011 (UTC) May 27/2011Reply

You don't need to do anything at all about creating an article. When you become notable, your many fans will work together on an article about you. You won't need to lift a finger, because they'll have the articles about you in Rolling Stone and other music journals to provide them with all the accurate information they need. Now that you know that there's nothing you should do to get an article about yourself into Wikipedia, do you still want an active account? What other kinds of edits do you think you'll be making? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:02, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes I would still like an account. I have been reading up on what I can, should, and can not do. I will continue learning to follow the guidelines here and if I have any questions, I'll ask before I post anything. Thank you all for the info. Wannagonnagood (talk) 20:21, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

You didn't answer one of FisherQueen's questions - "What other kinds of edits do you think you'll be making?" Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:38, 29 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I will not be making any edits at this point. I will continue learning the guidelines of Wikipedia and when and if I would like to submit anything I will ask an editor for advice and suggestions prior to posting anything. I honestly didn't realize the added text in the article was from editors and that it was not to be removed. I am now aware of many more things regarding Wikipedia and submission rules. Please advise, thx. 184.146.167.113 (talk) 18:28, 29 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

You do not, I think as yet clearly understand. All text in wikipedia is from editors, and there is none (except in protected articles) that cannot be removed or changed by another editor. The problem with your article was that it was about yourself, and hence breached conflict of intertest guidelines. An unrelated and unconnected editor is free to submit an article about you (which may or may not be accepted - seemusic policy) - and you, if/when unblocked, would be free to write about topics not connected with yourself. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:15, 30 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I do understand, and will adhere to the conflict of interest, as well as all other Wikipedia guidelines when submitting articles of which will not be about myself. If I am uncertain about any submissions that I may want to post, I will seek advice and suggestions from any of the editors that have contributed to this conversation and anyone else that may be able to instruct me on proper procedure and submission policies. Please advise, thx. Wannagonnagood (talk) 16:50, 30 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
