October 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page M&M's do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. KCinDC (talk) 18:45, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Anarchy. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. KCinDC (talk) 19:08, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Wikipedia includes links to stories in places I've written as a professional journalist--Salon.com, for example. ("Is Bill Maher a Libertarian" by Dann Halem) Walkabout Jones isn't a blog. It's a magazine, just like Salon, published by professional journalists. Perhaps not every external link I suggested was appropriate, but the stories that directly had to do with M&M's and Medical Marijuana are professionally written, edited and presented. Perhaps you might check them out before so hastily assuming they aren't legitimate informational contributions. Just because a link sends one to a site doesn't mean that site has no merit to the subject requested by Wikipedia viewers. We realize there is no "page hit" advantage to being listed on Wiki. But we believe these stories are relevant to the subject, and not including them-- when you include links to much bigger publications-- is discriminatory. We request that you please unblock Walkabout Jones and help us better understand which sections of Wikipedia our stories would legitimately fit as external links.

Decline reason:

Wikipedia has every right to discriminate in favour of bigger publications, simply because bigger publications are just that - bigger. We can't include links to a story written by every magazine, so only a few get in. In addition, I note you use the phrase 'we' - company accounts are strictly forbidden by our policies, which you would have read upon creating an account. An unblock is something that we can happily consider here, but only on the condition that you don't add anything to Wikipedia that is remotely related to your magazine or the subjects it covers, and that the account becomes a personal, rather than company, account. — Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 21:01, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
