Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Scouts Royale Brotherhood edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Scouts Royale Brotherhood requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://gangsallabout.blogspot.com/2017/02/scouts-royale-brotherhood-srb-saraba.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. TheFamousPeople.com as a source edit

Hi Wakowako. I noticed that you recently used thefamouspeople.com as a source in Andrés Bonifacio. Please note that there is general consensus that thefamouspeople.com does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for such information. (Discussions here and here). If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 15:56, 18 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for August 21 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Manang Biday, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gloria Romero (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

CSD at Hochschaubahn edit

Hi Wakowako - just to let you know I removed your CSD template on this article as there was enough information to identify the topic, and content was available from the German wikipedia to create a basic article. Other reasons for deletion may exist, so feel free to take to AFD if you still feel it's not suitable for inclusion. Hugsyrup 14:43, 9 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for contacting me. I was looking to create a redirect from IDRA the Agency to the Interior Design Resource Agency page but had already created the page before I figured out how to create a redirect. Are you able to take care of creating the redirect from IDRA the Agency to the Interior Design Resource Agency page for me instead of just deleting it. I’m a new user and learning alot. Speedy deletion declined: Absa Bank edit

Hello Wakowako. Hello Wakowako, and thanks for patrolling new pages! Speedy deletion declined: Jack Stauber edit

Hello Wakowako. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jack Stauber, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The Google Play page link indicates that it was copied from this article itself and mentions the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License; the YouTube page indicates that it was "auto-generated", presumably from this article. (Apologies for the scary bold in this reply, it's what the speedy decline script does.). Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 10:03, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Page edit

Hi I would just like to ask what changes need to be made for Marcus Valerius Maximus Lactuca, because you mentioned that their is some issues with the page BigRed606 (talk) 14:27, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Can you give suggestions because when I read the page and compare it too other page of similar content I see very little differences. BigRed606 (talk) 14:37, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • @BigRed606: at least an autobiography should be written like this:

Lead Section -The lead section must summarise the life and works of the person
Opening Paragraph - #Name(s) and title(s), if any (see also Wikipedia:Naming conventions (royalty and nobility)). Handling of the subject's name is covered below in § First mention.

  1. Dates of birth and death, if found in secondary sources (do not use primary sources for birth dates of living persons or other private details about them).
  2. Context (location or nationality);
  3. The noteworthy position(s) the person held, activities they took part in, or roles they played;
  4. Why the person is notable.

Context - The opening paragraph should usually provide context for the activities that made the person notable
Positions - should describe the person as they are commonly described in reliable sources--Wakowako (talk) 14:53, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Mangoo edit

Hello, Wakowako! You tagged a page I created, DJ Mangoo, as not meeting 'Wikipedia's notability guideline for music' but I think it was the wrong call because the guideline requires musicians to 'have a single on any country's national music chart', in order to satisfy it. In this case, Mangoo has two songs charted in two countries (Sweden and Switzerland). Additionally, he also 'has had a work used as the basis for a later composition by a songwriter, composer or lyricist who meets the criteria' ("Eurodancer" which was sampled by Alan Walker's "Play"). What do you think? MushroomDiamond (talk) 13:41, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

User:MushroomDiamond Hi, I agree with you, it was a wrong tag. I take time to read all the sources you have provided (though in Swedish). It will be cleaned up. --Wakowako (talk) 05:18, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Just a heads up that many local news sources, and definitely user contributed sites like Quora, just copy and paste wikipedia content into their articles (e.g. the Manipuri cuisine and Irom Chanu Sharmila articles. Tagging of Island of the Mad edit

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Island of the Mad. I do not think that Island of the Mad fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because Only short phrases, such as the names of the major characters, matched the alleged source. This is NOT a copyvio.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Island of the Mad for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 03:03, 14 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

DES - it was already edited by the page creator and the copypasted phrases were already removed before you have reviewed it. 98% of it was copy and pasted, it was in fact a COPYVIO. anyway, thanks--Wakowako (talk) 06:01, 14 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

2019 US Banknote Contest edit

  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

New page reviewer granted edit

Hi Wakowako. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Barkeep49 (talk) 21:38, 21 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Barkeep49 Thank you, I will follow the rules and will read tutorials to fully understand the right things to do.--Wakowako (talk) 05:13, 22 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Helen Steel archived references/sources edit

ClarityRandom - its Pre-emptive archiving. Sources you have provided are webpages that may alter and may in time completely disappear. This will ensure your source link accessibility and stability. This is not deleting your references, I am saving your references to become a deadlink in the future.--Wakowako (talk) 06:36, 26 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Wakowako, the problem is that while I am working on it I need to see the sources I am using. Also I am in discussion with another editor who thinks that the subject isn't notable, and is asking me to add more sources (see article talk page) so it is much better all round if we can see the sources. I would prefer to keep the references visible if that's no trouble for you.ClarityRandom (talk) 06:43, 26 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
ClarityRandom -Noted. Would you mind if you could put In use template so that other patrollers will not interfere while you're working on it? See Template:Under construction for your reference.--Wakowako (talk) 06:49, 26 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Constantin Movilă edit

Would you be happy to remove a deletion template from this article? Another editor put it there, copying what I wrote on my blog. My last comment was not answered by this other editor.: 12akd (talk) 07:12, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Constantin Movilă requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) @MoonyTheDwarf: What's the problem with this? I previously created such an article, but it was reclassified as a draft. I developed it and put it here. Why is it wrong? 12akd (talk) 05:42, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
:12akd, See the reason gave in the CSD.
:I do not see any indication of notability for this person. MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 05:44, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@MoonyTheDwarf: I understand. But I think it's about a famous person, a prince. Like many other Moldavian princes (List of rulers of Moldavia), this prince has many biographies and is available in several languages (eg Catalan, German, French, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian). 12akd (talk) 05:48, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately I can't give you notes because I worked on French Wikipedia and they are not there. 12akd (talk) 07:41, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

New Page Review newsletter November 2019 edit

Hello Wakowako,

This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.

Getting the queue to 0

There are now 813 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.

Coordinator

Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.

This month's refresher course

Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.

Tools
  • It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
  • It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
Reviewer Feedback

Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.

Second set of eyes
  • Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
  • Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
Arbitration Committee

The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.

Community Wish list

There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

Undoing good faith edits by new users with no explanation edit

Earlonne Woods is on my watchlist because I created the redirect. I see that a brand new editor started to create an article and you reverted back to a redirect with only "redirect" as an edit summary and no message to the user. In the future, please try to remember that this doesn't help anyone to know what was wrong, how to improve it, and how to avoid having work redirected. (To be clear, I'm not saying it shouldn't have been turned back into a redirect -- I'm skeptical this person should have a stand-alone article rather than be covered in Ear Hustle, but that's sort of beside the point). — Rhododendrites talk \\ 15:15, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:15, 19 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
