Anthony Johnson (fighter)

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Anthony Johnson (fighter) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Anthony Johnson. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you.

Nothing against you

edit

Hey man, nothing against you, but some of the changes you've been implementing recently are unorthodox to the articles. Some might end up being helpful, but others aren't really necessary. One example is the time each part of the card will begin. Honestly, ever since I started to see wikipedia articles for results (way before I started editing myself), they were never added and that's for a reason. I don't see the necessity for it (and all the previous events didn't have that need as well). Sometimes, like the Sweden event, they are mentioned due to big difference in local time and U.S time. But they're mentioned in the background. Anyway, too much info ends up being too much. For instance, we never added "(PPV)" to the main card because that was obvious, as all numbered events are ppvs, but it's okay to do it anyway. But I do feel that the time there is too much. Any and all posters I find or acquire are from UFC affiliated twitter accounts, friends and members of the MMA media again from Twitter, or the official UFC.com event programs which the UFC posts on their websites. Creation of pages

edit

Hey man, how are you? Not coming here to start a fight, but ultimately I've seen that you created a bunch of articles about fighters who aren't really that relevant - though they match the criteria that "allows" the creations of those articles; I believe the criteria is poor and vague, but that's what it is - but obviously I won't waste time on that, specially because that's not the point here. Even though that's not the matter I'm bringing, I'm sure it adds to the creation of the page UFC Fight Night: Mir vs. Duffee. You created an entirely blank page just to guarantee the creation of the page to be credited to you? Because it's the only reason and together with the huge number of fighter articles created recently, I can only diagnose that you're creating as much articles as you can to somehow claim your major importance to mma articles. While I do appreciate many of the contributions you do, I'd like to advise you (you are 15, right?) that this is not necessary. I wasn't going to create the article, don't have time or interest about doing it quickly, but you'd probably release it 100% or almost complete instead of a blank article. If a fighter has lost 3 fights out of 4 in the UFC, does that really make him that relevant or you just want to add info about that guy most people don't know about? As I said, it would match the "criteria", but there's really not enough relevance, right? Don't take this personally, you can create as much articles as you can, but be sure that quantity does not necessarily mean quality and I'm sure most (if not all) of regular editors believe in that. Thanks Gsfelipe94 (talk) 01:11, 9 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm doing fine. First off, what unnecessary fighter articles have I created? Ron Stallings, Ryan Benoit, Augusto Montaño, Thomas Almeida, and Shane Howell? I don't see the problem there. Perhaps you could elaborate as those fighters are considered notable under Wikipedia. That's not really a bunch either. I hope you're not mistaking me with someone else? I'm really confused, I've only created 5 fighter articles. Where do you see me trying to claim importance to MMA articles? I improve them just like you do. I was in no rush, I just didn't want an annoying user to create the article with the wrong name. How does it bother you in any way? It has no effect in you or your work. Yes, I'm 15 years old but I don't need a lesson from you. I knew what I was doing and I don't see anything I've done to legitimately disrupt the MMA Wikipedia community. Again, I do think you may be mistaking me for someone else. But, that's on you. I can answer any other concerns, if you'd like. WWE Batman131 (talk) 01:23, 9 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
I can give you a point for the fighter creation articles, ok? But as I said, that's not my point. It's about that attitude of creation a blank article just to get the bragging rights of it. No annoying user can create articles as only registered people do it and the majority of those creations were by either Pptt43 (forgot his name) and another user. So there's really no "annoying user" out there. I'm not giving you a lesson, just an advice. You can contribute perfectly without those small details. And again, as I said, I appreciate the fact that you're a helpful editor. Keep on doing that, but just don't bother with those unnecessary styles. It's not "illegal", but it doesn't fit well. Regardless of that, I'm not picking a fight here, you should know that. See you next time. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 01:41, 9 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hey dude, you're being too much of a hot head, even more than before it seems. I heard you were blocked a second time recently and if you don't take care about that aspect, it will be another one coming. Someone might report you for those comments against IPs or even registered editors. For your own sake, stop that. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 23:25, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lol, wasn't it you that got reported for personal attacks? I just don't like careless mistakes. I'll calm down and you don't need to scold me every time you think I've done something wrong. Just mind your own business. Jesus. WWE Batman131 (talk) 23:30, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
No, it wasn't. As you might remember I have a wrongful block that was reverted right away as showed the exact thing that happened. "What the hell" to registered users is just the first step, man. Not that I'm offended by you, it was actually just a tip. I'm sure that by the way you comment those summaries and the reply here that we'll see it happen again. It was an advice about here, but it sure just went out of the window. Not wasting any time on trying to help you being a better editor in that aspect here. Keep doing what you like to do then. "Jesus". Gsfelipe94 (talk) 23:35, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
WWE Batman131, excuse me for poking my nose in but the heading here seemed relevant. It seems that Gsfelipe94 may be mentioning an edit summary similar to what I noticed here. Such comments are best avoided, and constitute a personal attack on an editor. The usual advice is to 'comment on the edit, not the editor', even if they are annoying the crap out of you. (Believe me, I've been there too!)

RE: U.K.

edit

Hello WWE Batman131. Your explanation about the U.K. doesn't make any sense. As you can read on the United Kingdom page, you'll see that Northern Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland are all in a sovereign state in Europe named the United Kingdom. All other European counties are more or less on their own and don't have such an addition. If you scroll all the way down on the List of UFC Events-page you'll see that Belfast is noted as a city of Northern Ireland within the United Kingdom. And all the past events in England have the addition "U.K." as you can see.

So believe it or not but the way I've added it is really the correct way. So please don't start about vandalism and blocking me. That really doesn't make sense. So I'll correct is again. If you still think it is wrong please say so.

UFC Fight Night 78

edit

Hey man, as you created the event, I suggest something for the future. They announced that this event would feature a finale for a new reality show Road to UFC: Japan. I'm not creating an article now and probably more info would be required before something like that it's done. If it really features the finals of the reality show, you could redirect the event to the reality page's just like other TUFs final. If the series does not end in that event, then they would probably be kept apart. Just an idea if that ends up being the case. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 16:12, 14 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Miesha Tate

edit

Hi. We need to reach an accord about this, rather than edit warring. Firstly, there's nothing wrong with quotes and comments about a forthcoming fight. This is an article, not a Sherdog page, and plenty of articles about athletes have similar content.

Secondly, unless there's a Wikipedia policy that says "fight posters can only be used in event articles," there's nothing wrong with the image (I've seen a similar one in another pro fighter's article). I mean no harm; I'm attempting to expand the page based on good article standards, and the image is relevant to the article. -- James26 (talk) 20:07, 5 June 2015 (UTC) 20:06, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

UFC 189 and similar edits

edit

Pest is once again a good opportunity for report, huh? Lucky for you I'm let it pass now. The thing is, you took 13 minutes from the first edit to the addition of the source. As soon as news break on twitter, is there such hurry to update? Why not wait for a official link with a source to add it altogether? You've been doing that for a while and it's just as like those speedies we complain on events that do not wait for official announcement to update the result. I'm not picking on you, I'd do it with anyone who did the same thing. It just happens to be you at the moment. I don't see any other reason to keep this going and don't see an argument to defend yourself just like speedies in that situation do not have one. I'm not rushing to update anything either, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Even though you won't change this "hot head" way of yours, you still help a lot with articles. But you gotta comprehend that if someone complains, you should really see if they're right or just over the top with words. Honestly, I'm not. And one other thing, please do not edit irrelevant or other stuff in articles just to "chat" on the page. It's better to do just like I've done here and reach a talk page. Either the article's or the editor's one. Direct comments are welcome as it refers to something specific. If you change it again, then it makes sense to reply in the summary. It's a bummer Aldo had to pull out once again of a title fight. Don't think McGregor will defeat Mendes, though the short notice does give him a better chance of winning it. If he doesn't, he might get a fight Siver-like but with a bigger name to get a shot soon. Take care. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 01:02, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate the subtlety. I just try my best to prevent mistakes before they happen. I will admit that I sometimes take offence from things I shouldn't, but you have to remember that I'm only 16 ;) WWE Batman131 (talk) 01:28, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Reducing image sizes

Please in the future, if you want to reduce image sizes, make sure you do so in a way that maintains the proportions of the image and the image quality. Your resizing of File:WWE Battleground 2015 Official Poster.jpg did neither of these. Machida's kick

edit

First off, I believe that the purpose of this site is to best describe the action, event, item or person in the most useful and practical manner. Second, the crane kick, although perhaps made for a movie, is nonetheless the most commonly accepted term that also gives the reader the best depiction of the maneuver. However I would like to note that the more technical description as you gave (in my opinion) would be useful to describe the crane kick on a separate page. [[96.33.75.187 (talk) 21:06, 21 July 2015 (UTC)]]--96.33.75.187 (talk) 21:06, 21 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

I would be very interested to know if you have heard of any one describe this technique as a "flying front kick". I know a taekwondo black belt that has demonstrated this kick calling it a crane kick. Joe Rogan (UFC Color commentator) stated during the broadcast, that the kick was a crane kick after Lyoto landed it. Although I do recognize that this kick may have been made for a movie that does not discredit the fact that it is the technique’s proper name. I have gone back and watched the kick and there is the same leg and arm motion from Machida to Macchio. Also, if a fighter in competition (however ridiculous and unrealistic it is) grabbed his opponent’s pointer finger with his own pointer finger and thumb then proceeded to flex his little finger thus producing an enormous shockwave of energy. What name would you give such a technique?

Chill

edit

Hi WWE Batman131. Please, do what i've put in the heading, and relax a bit. Edit summaries such as For someone who hasn't watched "The Karate Kid", they don't know what a crane kick is. REALITY triumphs FICTION. Stop arguing are perhaps not helpful, even less so when the content of the edit contains shouting (you do know that ALL CAPS IS SEEN AS SHOUTING, right?). And calling someone a fool, as you did here and here, is definitely a Personal Attack, which you must not do. I notice that you have been blocked a couple of times previously; please, dial it back a notch or three and don't risk another. Thanks, Cheers, LindsayHello 15:48, 22 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hey. I've seen the episode, and I'm honestly not too sure that Eye's story about Tate is worth mentioning in the articles. With that incident, she mostly discusses Tate on a personal level, so I don't see much relevance to their fight. Maybe if they'd had words back then about fighting each other one day... In any case, thanks for giving me a heads-up about the episode. -- James26 (talk) 19:44, 25 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

UFC 195

edit

You consider that tweet a source? Really? No desperation, man. You get to create those articles with no problem, but if that's put up to deletion, it goes down quickly. No need for that stuff.Gsfelipe94 (talk) 22:02, 24 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Botter also reported the UFC 194 news, so he is a reliable source. Dana White announced himself that Aldo-McGregor would take place on the New Year's card and would be held in Vegas at the MGM Grand. Ariel Helwani and Jeremy Botter have stated that the definite date is January 2nd. Chronologically, the event would be UFC 195. It's all pieces of a simple puzzle that even a baby could put together. BTW, it's interesting that you use the word "desperation". That means you do indeed monitor all my edits. So, how about you hop off my back and stop scolding me for edits that displease you? I knew what I was doing, I'm not new to this. If it does get taken down, then that's that. WWE Batman131 (talk) 22:35, 24 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
So reliable that nothing came out about it, huh? You had that hidden update about a possible December event, so that show you how nothing is certain until a full source states it. Like that one, is there a chance it happens like this? Yes, but still, no need to hurry with creations. I saw the 194 event at the List of UFC events page and checked who created it. That way I was able to see your contributions and saw the 195 creation. So how about you start cooling that necessity to be the first one so quickly? I'm not interested in starting articles like that, you can create them all you want. Just please wait until official news come out, not a "reliable guy on twitter" regardless of what he said before. 194 was noticed with a official source, 195 not. I don't know where you saw Helwani saying it. CM Punk interview? That was speculation on his side, just as thinking that Punk's debut will be at the same one. Peace. You could move it back when it is officially stated in UFC web site. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 21:07, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi WWE Batman131, Greetings. UFC on ESPN: Ngannou vs. Velasquez. Pls do check what is reliable source and not. Twitter is not considered a reliable source as it is user generated site just like fb, linkedIn, Instragram. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:21, 27 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hello WWE Batman131, Again as you have been informed before, pls do NOT move the page until the event name is shown on UFC.com event page. Cassiopeia(talk) 02:15, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
How many years I've been here and yet the same problem with pages. Why is such a fess put up when an event name is going to be a formality? If a source is credible enough (i.e., Helwani and Okamoto) for the page to include the bout in an announced bouts section, why can't the page be moved on that basis? Perhaps you and whoever is still active in "monitoring" these pages should make some sort of vote because I'm pretty sure the last 1000 times a page was moved using a source, it ended up on UFC's website which is always slow to add bouts we know are official. But it's whatever. Good day. WWE Batman131 (talk) 18:40, 3 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi WWE Batman131, Good day. When the press announced the headliner but it is yet to be shown on UFC.event page which means it is not yet official. We, the regular mm editors always checked the name in UFC.com event page first moving doing the move keep the UFN xxx as redirect. Now the Vittori vs. Holland is shown in UFC event page, the pages name has been changed/moved. Take care and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 22:56, 3 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
