Welcoming edit

Hi. I noticed you are welcoming lots of new users. Welcoming new users is great, I do quite a bit of it myself, but ask yourself, is there a purpose to welcoming users that have created an account, but have not made a single edit yet? Strangely, there are hundreds of such accounts created every week. They create an account and then don't go on to actually use it. Creating talk pages for such users takes up (albeit a tiny amount) space on Wikipedia servers, and such pages are often simply deleted later if the user never comes back and actually edits. It is generally a good idea to welcome users only after they have made at least one edit, so that we know we are actually welcoming a new user, not talking to thin air. Just a thought, keep up the friendly attitude! Beeblebrox (talk) 19:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK, I see. I'll only create talk pages for users that edit at least one page. WPjcmWords are cool 19:07, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your removal of templated categories edit

So when you removed usage categories from those software userboxes yesterday... was there any consensus in general? Which part of WP:UBX do they contravene? They've been there for some time so if they didn't abide by policy they'd have been removed already, I suppose. Besides the fact that it's ironic that you still categorize your own userpage with one of the categories you removed you do know that usually you go through a categories for discussion process before doing a mass recategorization or removal, yes? -- Mentisock 09:28, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually, WP:UBX said in bold words "Userboxes should not automatically include categories." Also, there have been a few userbox templates that had a category in <includeonly>s removed to abide by that rule. I'm just finishing some more of the job. Speedy deletion nomination of SmackJeeves edit

A tag has been placed on SmackJeeves, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion declined: Webcomics Nation edit

Hello WPjcm, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Webcomics Nation - a page you tagged - because: Not unambiguous advertising. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. SoWhy 18:29, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: FictionPress edit

Hello WPjcm, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of FictionPress - a page you tagged - because: Over a million original works does rather make a credible assertion of notability. PROD or take to AfD if required. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. GedUK  20:42, 26 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Ghastly's Ghastly Comic edit

I have removed the proposed deletion tag you placed on Ghastly's Ghastly Comic because the article was discussed at articles for deletion and is therefore permanently ineligible under the proposed deletion process. I only did this to comply with policy and have no opinion one way or the other on the merits of the deletion nomination. If you wish to pursue deletion, please open another deletion discussion. —KuyaBriBriTalk 13:49, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

June 2012 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Wikia. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. J (t) 15:35, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Neutrality? edit

What's the dispute with Rugrats? I saw you added the template, but you didn't give any reason in your edit summary or on the talk page. I happened to notice as I was scrolling the talk page that it passed the neutrality section in its GA review, so please specify. Paper Luigi TC 03:52, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

It was actually just a particular section that I found to be non-neutral. I went ahead and moved the template. ~jcm 03:58, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

American Idol - small note edit

I had misread the sentence, and for some reason thought it read "one of the top-rated" instead of simply "the top-rated." So, yes, it turns out you were right all along. Oops! Davejohnsan (talk) 03:41, 3 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
