Re: Computer FAC

edit

I'm sorry to have had to be instrumental in shooting down your FAC effort - but it truly had to be done. I just wanted to make sure I didn't make an enemy in the process! I'd like to cooperate in making this article fly. I'm not exactly a long-time Wikipedian - but I do have one FA under my belt (Mini) with another winding it's way through the system as we speak - so at least I know what to expect. I've also worked with a HUGE range of computers - starting back in the early 1970's - I've even designed one or two of them.

What we need to do is to look at the 'big topic' articles - Physics, Chemistry - and attack the problem that way. We need the most high level, abstract definition we can come up with - then we need to subdivide the subject matter rationally and spend a lot of thought on organising links to all of the other computer-related Wikipedia articles.

Your last comment on my RFA

edit

I think you're a bit confused - and understandably so. Geo Swan added a comment just below my question under your vote. Then I added a reponse below Geo Swan's comment. At some point - either when Geo Swan trimmed his lengthy critique of my performance or at some other point - the formatting got messed up so it looks like one big comment from me. Quite complicated. I'll try to fix it. KI 18:24, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your vote.

Hi, this is Matt Yeager. I wanted to thank you for your vote on my request for adminship. The count was something like was 14/20/5 when I decided to withdraw the request. My decision was based on the fact that there are enough things wasting people's time on the Internet that doomed RFA's shouldn't be kept up for voters to have to think about. Regardless of the rationale behind your vote, I hope you will read this note for an extended note and discussion on what will happen before I make another try at adminship (I didn't want to clog up your userpage with drivel that you might not be interested in reading). Thank you very, very much for your vote and your time and consideration of my credentials--regardless of whether you voted support, nuetral, or oppose. Happy editing! • I read the page, and it was insightful (it had the overtone of "thanks for the vote, b*t*h", haha). i will most likley vote support next time. the only reason i didnt is becuase you werent here for 6 months. Vulcanstar6 01:46, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I see you have your name on the list of users who would like help with their eventual RFA. I'm here to help. after reviewing your edit count, contributions, and behiavor, heres my advice before we make you an RFA:

  • you have almost 2000 edits, i suggest you wait until you have 2000 to RFA, i myself would like 2000 to get my vote. (though im not too strict)

thats about it! everything else looks good, user page is nice, talk page is in order, you seem to be a nice kid. and youve been here long enough.

if you would like help with forming the actual RFA page, contact me. (i'd be happy to nominate you.) Vulcanstar6 02:17, 12 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The only other thing I'm mainly waiting for is a bit more mainspace contribution, as that's what a lot of people are after (So I'd like to get the remaining 200 or so edits in mainspace.) Werdna648T/C\@ 14:08, 12 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
