PVEM

edit

Hi there. On the Green Party's page, you call González a "public officer". Maybe "public official" is the term you're looking for -- ie, a civil servant, an employee of the govt bureaucracy. What exactly did he do before founding the party? Hajor 14:56, 1 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

My RfA!

edit

My dear Vizcarra, I simply wanted to drop by, now that my RfA is closed to give you a big THANK YOU! for your kind support. I know we had a little argument regarding Anahi, but it serves to show how two mature persons can understand each other and move along. As a Mexican, perhaps you'd like to see some of my later contributions to Texas Ranger Division and see if I've focused the matter with a fully NPOV position, as I know it's a sensitive issue for many of your countrymen. You'll always have a friend in me. Un beso!   Shauri Yes babe? 21:14, 2 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Mexican state categories + Baja municipalities map

edit

Hi again. Sorry about the map, I had changed it by the time you replied. It can be reverted to either my or your version at any time so that shouldn't be a big issue.

My concern here is that I noticed you removing Mexican State articles from Category:States of Mexico. You stated in the edit summary that it is a "redundant category" when it is actually far from it. My understanding of current usage is that the main state article can and should go under "divisions of X" (regardless of whether the article is under other categories) while all articles related to the state go into subcategories (and I think the main state article should NOT go into its own subcategory). See how Texas and other US state articles for usage examples. It would be real nice if you could revert the changes you made.

Rosario Green

edit

With All respect, I would sincerely suggest not believing everything you read. It is a very exciting time in Rosario's life right now and we would hope that you would honor that. She is devoted and is with the Kozmetsky Center at the present time. I will keep you up to date personally if you would like me to. Thank you. I hope you don't mind, I corrected List of Jews by country and the template Template:Jews by country after your brilliant edits. :)

tag team

edit

Thanks for the note. It would seem to me that SlimVirgin and Jayjg qualify as a pro-Israel and pro-Jewish POV tag team. They are currently tag teaming the Historical persecution by Jews section to delete any mention of the modern state of Israel. And they both had tried to push POV in the Refusal to serve in the Israeli military article. Anyway, it will be interesting to see if NPOV will ever win on wikipedia. Hypocrisy

edit

You're quite happy to make criticisms of others without evidence, and to retain unpleasant posts about others on your talk page, but when someone reciprocates, you instantly delete it. Ruiz's post had the ring of truth to it. You do involve yourself in issues you have no knowledge of. You do distort facts. I have direct experience of you doing this, which is why I restored the post. I won't get into an edit war with you about it, but your hypcrisy is noted. SlimVirgin (talk) 00:33, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I was going to delete your personal attack, but I realized that this attack is self-inflicted. You are calling me a hypocrite, for... wait no proof. Ring of truth? Every criticism you have deleted has more than a ring of truth. They are almost entirely true. So, now you are calling yourself a hypocrite, meaning to insult me. --Vizcarra 00:38, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Diferendo

edit

Would you and Ruiz like to meet up somewhere in my user space and hash out your differences under the oversight of an uninvolved party? We might manage to go some way towards establishing standard guidelines for dealing with Mexican articles in general, too. –Hajor 15:30, 8 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

El siniestro de Tapachula

edit

Re:Naming convention

edit

To be honest I'm not sure about it since "Municipality of" is sometimes not part of the proper name of the municipio, but it would certainly ease dab between municipalities of the same name in different states. However I don't think this usage is in agreement with the naming conventions for subnational entities. I'd suggest you to ask User:Hajor for input as well, since he's been somewhat involved in naming conventions AFAIK. I'd thank you if you keep me informed, of course! Cheers. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 20:50, 11 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think there's been a little misunderstanding because I didn't explain myself well. I tried to say that by writing "Municipality of" the reader may imply that it is a part of the name, which in many cases is not true. Sorry about that. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ | Esperanza 21:17, 11 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Holiday

edit

Do you really think that this "Who cares about the Merriam Webster?" is a good justification for this change [3]. Or are you betting on others not noticing? --Vizcarra 00:15, 12 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Do you really think that ignoring the discussion on the talk page and making a change based on one dictionary was a good justification? I don't claim that will win any awards for a calm and insightful edit comment, but it expressed my opinion clearly. If I had wanted to hide it, I would have marked it "grammatical changes" and set it to minor.--Prosfilaes 17:37, 12 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Ha ha ha! I'll have you know, Prosfilaes, that I wrote the original version of the Winter Holiday section at Holiday, and that the original version included the God reference. This obviously means that you are a hypocrite in saying that Vizcarra was editing "(while) ignoring the discussion", when in fact he/she was restoring what was actually changed already, without discussion. Check on the facts before you get so confident. Jordain 03:35, 13 October 2005 (UTC).Reply

User:Vizcarra talk/POV

edit

Heya -- without reference to the content, I'd like to suggest you rename this article. Right now, the title and namespace indicate that there is a user (it's in the User: namespace) named "Vizcarra talk", and this is a subpage of "Vizcarra talk"'s user page called POV. I don't think that's what you meant! It should be renamed to User:Vizcarra/POV or User talk:Vizcarra/POV -- the latter will make it more likely for other editors to contribute to it, which (since you erased my responses) you don't seem to want.

I also really wish we didn't find ourselves at odds; except for the stuff we seem to disagree about, I'm quite impressed by the work you've been doing on Wikipedia. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 05:43, 13 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Mexico

edit

Hi, there. Sorry I didn't get back to you about your municipalities question -- I read it, thought about it, and then entirely forgot to respond. However, I would like you point your browser towards Wikipedia:WikiProject Mexico: something that a couple of people have talked about setting up in the past, and which I think could help provide a forum for broader discussions than the (somewhat unfortunate) ones that have taken place regarding Mexico articles in recent weeks. I sincerely hope you do sign up and, together, we can take our best shot at this thing. For instance, I've proposed creating a page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Mexico/Strategy, precisely for discussing issues like the naming of municipio articles. If you like, you could be the first poster. Best, –Hajor 20:17, 17 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

FEMSA

edit

Hola Vizcarra!, FEMSA should not be merged with Coca-Cola FEMSA... In that case we should also merge The Walt Disney Company article with the Walt Disney Pictures article... FEMSA is the group.... Coca-Cola FEMSA is a company of that group regards, Abögarp

I see your point, through an extreme analogy, but I do see it. Well, what we can do is to list all subsidiries of FEMSA (such as Coca-Cola, cerveza, etc.) --Vizcarra 23:26, 20 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Vicente Fox

edit

Hi, Vizcarra -- thanks for the information about "Chente." I guess my question is: is Fox frequently referred to as Chente? If so, I'm inclined to add it back on. If he's rarely or never referred to as Chente, I'm inclined to leave it off. Please let me know (or add it back yourself if you believe it's approrpirate). Thanks. --Nlu 16:01, 23 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Removal of photos

Hello Viz. Was it you who removed the photos of Ali, Jimi and Jeff from the Irish people article? If so, why? Cheers. Fergananim 17:23, 23 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Redundant categories

edit

Hi, if an article is in Category:Skyscrapers between 200 and 249 meters, it doesn't also need to be in Category:Skyscrapers by height, as that is a parent category. This is the same thing as saying someone is an Actor and an American Actor. Please place the most specific categories on an article only.. Thank you. «»Who?¿?meta 08:39, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Actually, I was about to have my bot remove all of the redundant categories in a few minutes. «»Who?¿?meta 08:55, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Hi again. I just wanted you to know, that I understand you were just trying to help out, and I appreciate your contribs. I hope I did not come off as too harsh, I was just trying to save you some time, as they would have been corrected at some point. No hard feelings, and keep up the good work.
