Brilliant work

... on the NFA pages - way to go. BTW, what do you think about adding citations for awards as well? ShahidTalk2me 21:33, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Paranoia

Was Khan acting in this, or filming, producing, etc? This probably doesn't belong in his acting filmography, but maybe just in the text? I could not find it in that second source; how is it listed in their? BollyJeff || talk 13:14, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Oops, I didn't see that you had added a page number on the National awards document. Its all good then. Maybe you could add the assistant director gigs to the Writer/Director table. BollyJeff || talk 15:18, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Gulzar

Hey....didn't come across you since long. Busy elsewhere? Btw, wanted your help on Gulzar. The current table (added by me long back) doesnt look good. Isnt it? Means i like when we reach the 70s & 80s & see the greenery there. But it isnt worth keeping such a long table for that. But the older format was just listing all films in various categories. You couldnt link that he wrote dialogues and also lyrics of it. Or how in Ijaazat except writing story and producing, he did everything. Hence i prefer this complex table. But the whole page gets fulls of this. 2/3rd of the page is only table now. Awards & Filmography. Hence want your opinion on what can be done. Also now that the "As Director" subsection in his Career is made, his Lyrical career has little weightage. Am planning to write that now. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 17:20, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

I think its high time to create new articles for filmography and awards-nomination. Artists like Gulzar have given so much to the industry that its tough and cumbersome to add all in one page. Yes, page looks full of tables only. You may want to discuss this on the talk page. Let other editors also put their comments on it. I am actually busy with NFAs. Only couple of articles left. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 17:45, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Separate page is a good idea. But for that i will first expand the current article and then ask for separation. If done now, main page would have little on it. Anyways... thanks! Carry on with your NFAs. Good Luck! -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 18:33, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Shaheed-E-Mohabbat

This article claims to have won National Award and is Proposed for deletion due to lack of reliable sources to prove notability. The article will be deleted on 10th March. Can you find any reference for it till then? I too found a ref which says it won National Award. But am unable to find category. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 09:50, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Yes. Film has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi in 46th National Film Awards. Here is the reference or this one. Check the page 76 of official brochure or page 85 of PDF. I will update all the related NFA articles once I am done with main NFA page creations. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 16:10, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Well thats sufficient for now. If deleted now it probably will not be created soon. Prevention is better than recreation! You take your time. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 17:39, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

NFA regionals

Let me begin with tidying up of NFA regional pages included in Sch VIII. For these 12 pages, they have various formats currently used. Hence wanted your opinion on which one should be continued and what more should be added.

  • Is the award shared by Producer & Director? Only one list mentions Producer. So will have to add those.
    • Yes. They share the award. Producer should be given preference over director for mention.
      • Will do that!
  • The format used in Marathi is good. Its pagefull also. Just needs Producers there before the Director column. So will tidy up that first.
    • You can club first two columns. Moreover, I believe last column has repetitive information. See if you can take out the redundancy.
      • See below.
  • Assamese list has a infobox. That looks good to me. Should i add those for all pages?
    • Yes. Thats better.
      • Will do that!
  • The colouring scheme of list is good in Marathi. Will use that everywhere.
    • I am not sure about the coloring schema. Best feature film mention should go away as we have another page for it and does not belong here. And Shirdiche Sai Baba was not awarded any medal but just certificate. So both the colors goes away. Only "No Award" remains. What say?
      • Aa....You mean we should remove the enteries of "Golden Lotus Award (Swarna Kamal){President's Gold Medal for the All India Best Feature Film}"? & keep only Silver Lotus?
        • Yup. It does not belong there. I think somebody was emotional while adding that info. ;)
          • hahahah! Will remove those.
  • Should the citation/award description go in all lists? I dont think so. Its better left only on yearwise pages.
    • I personally would prefer that. Its kinda handy. But then we will add that once I am done with all the article pages. It would just be a copy-paste.
      • But that will be so crowded!
        • Yes. Thats true. Lets hold on that for the time being. What say?
          • Will hold. But i guess it will be good to have it there.
  • Will also have to increase leads of these lists. Planning to add short description of topmost films.
    • Please do that, if you can.
      • Will do that!

Also let me know if you have any other things on your mind. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 08:14, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Also, which yearly list is close to perfect as per you? -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 08:37, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
I think Marathi is near perfect. So you may want to take reference of that. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 13:05, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Okay! Is this sample okay? Citation is gonna eat huge space. Or else we can write citation in a line below just how episode description is written here. But then they do not sort. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 13:48, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Ok. Hows this? Or you may want to give different color for the "All India Certificate of Merits" and define legends in the article. By this, we would get rid of "Notes" column. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 14:27, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Year Film Producer(s) Director(s) Notes
1954 (1st) Shyamchi Aai P K Atre P K Atre
1954 (1st) Shirdiche Sai Baba Producer Director All India Certificate of Merit
Btw, Regional awards were instituted in 1955 (2nd National Film Awards). So Shyamchi Aai never won this award. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 14:31, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
I am all confused now. How many awards are/were there? President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film, Certificate of Merit, Certificate of Merit for Third Best Feature Film, Certificate of Merit for the Second Best Feature Film, All India Certificate of Merit, All India Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film?!??!?!!? -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 14:57, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Also if Shwaas & all dont belong there, i will have to delete the lead. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 14:58, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Ok. Let me give you a crash course on NFA.
For All India level, there were 3 awards. President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film (which is National Film Award for Best Feature Film); Certificate of Merit for the Second Best Feature Film (which is National Film Award for Second Best Feature Film and Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film (which is National Film Award for Third Best Feature Film)
Second and third film awards are discontinued and third film was always given a certificate, whereas second was given certificate in the early years which was then awarded with medals later on.
For regional level, there were 3 awards in the beginning. President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film; Certificate of Merit for the Second Best Feature Film and Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film. As name says, first one was given medal and others were only certificate.
Second and third film awards are discontinued and were not awarded consistently as well.
I hope everything is clear to you now. Let me know if you are still confused. :P Thanks. - VivvtTalk 15:44, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Okay! No! i guess this is sufficient. Now i also think that colour coding will be good for all rows & one small table of what which colour means & when they were discontinued, will be good to have. Umm.... that also gives us plenty space to write citation. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 15:59, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Bingo !!. Ya thats what I said in the beginning. Add legends on the article page so that it indicate what means what. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 16:03, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
One more. FOR REGIONAL, do we know exactly when 2nd & 3rd were discontinued? Or did they just started fading away & we assume that its over now? Asking this as i have a question: Do we have columns for those & write No Award there? I mean for Marathi all 3 were given in 9th, 10th & 12th, 13th. So in 11th should we write "No Award"? or just leave it.....-Animeshkulkarni (talk) 16:14, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
They were discontinued with 15th NFA. I would not add one more column, because it makes page cumbersome and moreover, these awards were given only 14 times, that too not consistently, whereas we are now nearing 60 NFA. The count is 1/4 of the total count. What say? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 16:22, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Right! I was also gonna say same after a second thought. Plus i cant figure out how that will be done. So no! -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 16:44, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Colours Description
*
President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film
*
President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film
*
Certificate of Merit for the Second Best Feature Film
*
Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film
See if you like it. I toned down the color for President's Silver Medal for Best Feature Film, because this award is given consistently and when page grows, it would look dark. Moreover, color is consistent with the NFA main article format. What say? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 17:01, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Looks fine! I guess i am all set now. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 17:46, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Awesome!! Thanks. - VivvtTalk 18:13, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Take a look here. If thats okay, i will move it to the main space. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 10:23, 10 March 2012 (UTC) Did the citations start only after 25th NFA? I searched few random pdfs before that & dint find any. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 10:54, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

I think its OK. I made a minor change there. I am sorry, I should not have touched your userpsace.
Yes. Citation started only atter 25th NFA. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 16:06, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Thats okay! But do u want to really write it that way? Its okay for me. But then i dont want to link years with "19XX in films". Those pages dont include anything about Indian cinema. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 16:13, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Ahhhh...True. I checked and realised that later. So lets not have link for year. I even checked 19xx in India. That also does not include about films. So lets go ahead with the link for ceremony and text for the year for which awards were given. We can see about wrapping text later. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 16:26, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
i did something to it. Check that & do in it whatever you wish. Or let me know if this should be continued for all years or revert to original way. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 16:31, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Whatever we do to that 1st col will be done on all NFA articles. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 16:37, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
OK. I have changed something. See if you like it. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 16:49, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
This is good! Will do it & tranfer to main space. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 17:01, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Awesome!!! I might have tested your patience while concluding. ;) Thanks. - VivvtTalk 17:05, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Oh no! Just wanted to agree on all things as all pages will have this theme from now onwards. Btw, all table headings are also gonna have #EFE4B0 colour. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 17:11, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Actually want to match it with the yellow shade used in Infobox National Film Awards. Do you know its code? -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 17:13, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Thats the correct one, #EFE4B0. Btw I have made some code reduction. It helps in maintaining page size. You may want to carry foreward it. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 17:20, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Hey! Those yellow shades were better than these grey ones you used on National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali. They are so confusing. Can't make out difference unless other shades are also next to it. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 19:33, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Those yellow shades were matching with the header and the template. Moreover, now there are 4 different types of awards, so thought of having different colors and shades altogether to avoid page having all yellow-yellow-dirty-fellow look. - Vivvt • (Talk) 20:05, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Other NFA doubts

No. Its correct. It won both the awards. Rules changed later for NFAs. Thats why this year Deool won best feature film and Shala won best Marathi film. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 17:17, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
Fixed that up. No source for 12th NFA for Malayalam. Need to find that out. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 14:49, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
Ahh...Yes. Never thought of that. Will do it in some time. Thanks for reminding. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 11:07, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
Yaah. Saw this morning. Deserving one. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 18:54, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Ya. It won that year. Rather for Best Audiography, Anmol Bhave was not announced as a winner earlier. DFF re-released the official winner list to include his name. And its awesome movie. If you had not created an article, I would have done it by myself. One of my favorites. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 17:46, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Naaah... Many ppl have won several NFAs, so it does not make him different. But I would say he is the first one who won National Film Award for Best Screenplay for a Marathi film for Gandha in 42 years. What say? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 11:50, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Thats a nice one. But DYK reviewers usually want direct reference for such statements. They dont like conclusions. & thnks for Nirop's poster. Did you crop it? I couldnt find any good one. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 12:11, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
I dont think we would find any direct reference. We might have to take help of two articles, his own article and Best Screenplay. Again, might not go well with the reviewers though.

I was thinking on very similar lines: this one definitely looks like a potential featured list, and a very good one at that. Pretty extensive, and very well-formatted. Unfortunately, I have pretty little experience with lists (except for List of highest-grossing Bollywood films, which is nowhere close to the above list) so I don't have much in way of improvements. As a look, it certainly seems to be FL-ready; though I have learnt with the FAC of Ra.One that "looks can be deceiving" :P ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 14:40, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Re:Images

Hi. That's great news. If the blog is willing to release photos, you should ask them under what license they want to release the photos into. You could check here for possible licenses and select a few. Then, e-mail them again, asking them explicitly under what license they want to release the photos, and give the licenses you chose. The blog owner will chose one of them; you could ask the blog owner to give something of an official declaration saying that they release the photos under so-and-so license (it makes verification easier). Then, upload the photos into Wikipedia (or Wikimedia if the files are free files).

Next comes the OTRS. The OTRS will confirm that the photos you upload actually have the proper copyright from the proper copyright owner. Send a separate e-mail to the OTRS e-mail address permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, giving a brief overview of what happened ("I came across this website, was attracted to photos, contacted blog owner...") and then give the URLs of the uploaded photos. After that (and most importantly) you should forward necessary e-mails between you and the blog owner, discussing the copyright of the photos.

Now you can forget about all this; the OTRS process typically takes a few weeks because there will be lots of editors sending mails to OTRS. At one point of time, you will get an e-mail from OTRS saying that they have checked the e-mails and are (hopefully) satisfied with the case. After that, OTRS will assign an OTRS ticket number to the photos you uploaded, and then those photos are officially and properly usable in Wikipedia, without any hassles. However, in case OTRS is able to find out that the photos you uploaded are actually not owned by the blog owner, then you will receive a rejection mail and the photo will be deleted. Hence, I suggest you check whether the photo matches with any other photo on the internet (using that camera icon you talked about); I faced a similar rejection situation when a blog owner lied about the ownership of the photos. It happens :) Best of luck, and if you have more queries, don't hesitate to ask me :D Cheers! ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 04:59, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Hmm! Interesting! §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 05:29, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh, its a PR photo. Well, I don't think that photo will be actually free. Technically, such photos should get a Creative Commons license, with "Some copyright present" tag. For example, see Kareena Kapoor's infobox photo. I suggest that you upload the photo into Wikipedia using the same license as the one in the Kapoor article, and then mail the OTRS system. Ask them for further advice, as I am afraid my file copyright knowledge is not very deep :P I am sure the photos are neither fully copyrighted nor completely free, so its best to go for the partial copyright license and ask the OTRS for final confirmation; in case they say to change the license to a more appropriate one, do so. Oh yes, don't forget to forward the mails of the blog owner to them, and also write that overview mail. It makes their job easier. Good luck :) ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 12:41, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Umm Vivvt, have you sent the mails to OTRS? Because if you haven't already, then there is next to no chance that you will get a reply before April 25, 2012 (the day the file is scheduled for deletion). The photo is a good one, so even I'd like it to be there. But of course, in case things don't work out, you could always re-upload it (though that would be a haslle-filled job, and may take more weeks of discussions). Cheers, and good luck!   ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 13:09, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

National Film Awards

In the article 59th National Film Awards, it is stated that there was no Best Film on National Integration award because there was no suitable film; however, in a number of places, Insha Allah and Mindscape are listed as the winners of the award. Its a glaring contradiction. Please correct it. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 06:08, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

These two films have been awarded with Best film on Social issues in non-feature film category. Most of the sources are referring them the way you stated, which is incorrect. Rather when I created the article, it was stated wrong as Best Film on National Integration, which I later on updated per official source. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 11:04, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Help on finding Hindi voice artists

Hello, Over the past few months, I've been trying to find some Hindi voice-dubbing artists of famous actors, but I am having a hard time searching, since there is no Hindi dubbing database on the internet. Since you're from India, do you think you can help find the voice artists? Here's what I want to find:

  • Who is the Hindi voice actor that dubbed over Adam Sandler's role as Michael Newman in the film, Click?
  • Who is the Hindi voice actor that dubbed over Mark Hamill's role as Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars films from IV-VI?
  • Who is the Hindi voice actor that dubbed over David Krumholtz's role as Michael in: 10 Things I Hate About You?
  • Who is the Hindi voice actor that dubbed over Martin Jarvis's role as Sir Cosmo Duff-Gordon in Titanic?

I'm not Indian and I know this seems like a pretty big job, But Please try leave a talk message on my talk board and see if you can do anything about it. TV shows

Wow!! This is getting funny. You have to read this.

On Karan and Abha's wedding anniversary day, Veer accidentally puts on the wrong music which makes Albeli dances a village style dance. But she covers up with some excuses. When a romantic music plays on, Karan holds Abha( Albeli) and dances romanticly with her( touches her back, holds her hand, hugs her, kisses her in a romantic mood).Karan suprised Abha(Albeli) with a picture of him and Albeli which he drew on his own.

§§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 15:05, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Absolute LOL. That's romantic though. ;) Thanks. - VivvtTalk 15:17, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Another one...

The lights go out in Swarn Bhavan. In the darkness, Abha mistakes Karan to be Ranchod and tries to convince him from leaving. On realizing that it is Karan, Abha lies that she was asking him not to go out and get ice-cream for her.

I (film)

Whilst I totally agree with you that WP:NFF applies to this article, you are reverting multiple editors and are at risk of being accused of edit warring if you continue. If the article is created again I would strongly suggest one of contacting a friendly admin, or taking the page to WP:RPP or WP:AfD.

At I (2013 film) I believe your speedy deletion nomination was validly contested by someone other than the creating editor and, if so, restoring it with this edit summary was probably unwise. In such circumstances, the above courses of action might also be best.

RichardOSmith (talk) 18:42, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

I do understand your concern. The proposed film has already created bunch of articles, including one based on the rumors (Therdhal). I would take I (film) for WP:RPP once I (2013 film) is speedy deleted. Because editors keep adding content to the other article(s). Article was earlier created by an editor User talk:Abhila3 and was proposed deleted. Again, another editor User:Arjann created the article with same name today. Its all mess for this particular film. - VivvtTalk 19:25, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Advice

Here is a small piece of advice. Withdraw the request from WP:GOCE for the 59th NFA, as I assure you, it is not possible to appreciate the way they copy-edit and it is unlikely to bring any constructive changes to the article. The article's prose has greatly improved just by our editing and it is in no need for a separate copy-editor. Secret of success (talk) 10:20, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

And then what about all those editors with magical wands who come for review and comment to send it for ce? §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 13:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Its not like the article's prose is downright haggard. We can keep fixing all minor mistakes, they're not a big deal. If we take care of their specified concerns, and they still say that the article's prose lacks quality without sufficient detail, that will be disregarded as a perfunctory vote. Secret of success (talk) 15:32, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
@SoS: That's true. I tried contacting GOCE members for the no response on CE. per them, it would take some more time to finish the current backlog, likely to be end of September if not soon. I'm not sure how long should/would FLC nomination wait as its almost a month now. I'm experiencing that Review-Response process is not fast for FLC either. - Vivvt • (Talk) 15:58, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:03, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

On 59th National Award

If the list does not get featured in this nomination, then submit it to GOCE. It will benefit if some native English-speaker does copyedit. It may not need another PR, as I do not think any other major issues are there besides prose quality (although I have not read it thoroughly); the sources look good. For that possible copyvio for award citations, why don't you simply put the citations within quotation mark and attribute to the respective sources? That would mean that you are quoting the citations (which is ok, if you are properly attributing).--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:41, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

I think if you use quotation marks (thereby declaring that the portion within the quotation marks are verbatim from the source), we can avoid the question of copy-vio. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:13, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Ofcourse it is. Thats what i am hating. Just added masala by making a love triangle. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 03:00, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
I donno what they have tried but I had liked the original one. Lets see how Kundalkar has changed a serious story to funny one. - Vivvt • (Talk) 03:24, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
For comedy it seems that they have still kept those "Kande Pohe" scenes. Seeing those this similarity striked me. Till then i hadn't noticed that Kundalkar is common. Plus they seem to have added cultural changes of Maharashtra and South India for more humour.
My prediction... songs would do good, atleast in Maharashtra. One would be able to listen to the theme song from Ganpati Pendals. Film will be ok-ok commercially. Its releasing around same time with Ishkq in Paris, English Vinglish and SOTY. No way it can be a blockbuster. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 06:37, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
I haven't heard the songs yet (Are those released at all?) but film might do well if compared to Ishkq in Paris which appears to be heavily inspired from Before Sunrise. To me, English Vinglish trailer is amusing but SOTY is all about Oh-This-Does-Not-Exists-in-India (Yawn!!). - Vivvt • (Talk) 12:19, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
No. They aren't released yet; just the theme from the promo.
If it is only inspired from BS series it might work. But if its a copy, (that would mean actors talking about spirituality, social problems of poverty and war, parenthood and what not) then its not suitable for Indians. Is that why they took this 20-something chap to star opposite 40-something Zinta, so when they make it's sequel after 10yrs, he is still available? ?  SOTY is for school-college kids. It would be duh for other gens, but youth itself is a huge market. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 04:35, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Surprisingly, I have started enjoying Aiyyaa songs. Might not be loud-hearing but lyrics are funny. Intentionally made that way probably. :P - Vivvt • (Talk) 04:04, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah! They aren't blockbuster or anything and surely poorly marketed. (Can't hear them through pendals.) But they are fairly good. Liked "Dreamum Wekapum" for its creativity. Just like "White White Face Dekhe". "Sawa Dollar" was flop! §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:41, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

The songs are absolutely not meant for listening thru pandals!!! Listen to some of them and you will know what I meant when I said "not-meant-for-loud-hearing". Most of the people would not get the humour intended and chances of finding it vulgar are more. - Vivvt • (Talk) 13:23, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

In some cases, video clips published on YouTube may be acceptable as primary sources if their authenticity can be confirmed, or as a secondary source if they can be traced to a reliable publisher, but even then should be used with caution. the reference stated above is from the most reliable source from the owner official channel itself.

Self-published sources

Policy shortcuts: WP:SPS

WP:SELFPUBLISH
WP:BLOGS

Further information: Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Avoid self-published sources and Wikipedia:List of self-publishing companies

Anyone can create a personal web page or pay to have a book published, and then claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason, self-published media, such as books, patents, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, personal or group blogs, Internet forum postings, and tweets, are largely not acceptable as sources. Self-published expert sources may be considered reliable when produced by an established expert on the topic of the article, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications.[4] Take care when using such sources: if the information in question is really worth reporting, someone else will probably have done so.[6] Never use self-published sources as third-party sources about living people, even if the author is an expert, well-known professional researcher, or writer.

Self-published or questionable sources as sources on themselves

Policy shortcuts: WP:ABOUTSELF

WP:SELFPUB
WP:TWITTER
WP:SOCIALMEDIA

Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, usually in articles about themselves or their activities, without the self-published source requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as:

1.the material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim;
2.it does not involve claims about third parties;
3.it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source;
4.there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity;
5.the article is not based primarily on such sources.

this article is clearly stating that the owner of the particular content can not be questioned for the authenticity this knowledge of yours are completely ungenuine.. as any personal data can not be relied on media who rely on this personal post and published post

This policy also applies to pages on social networking sites such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. vkdlms (talk) 06:44, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

i dont know what is the thought.. if a person dies/born on 14th june and media put the news on 15th june then it doesnt become the day on which he/she died/born.. only the person owner or legally having the full right of it can answer when it died/born — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vivekdalmias (talkcontribs) 06:47, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Moreover, I do not care about the date. 14th or 15th does not matter to me. What matters to me is the sources your are providing. Use the newspaper sources and go ahead with the desired date. FB, Twitter, Youtube and social media is not considered as reliable source. - Vivvt • (Talk) 11:16, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

NFA categories

How about making these categories?

I am finding last two names a bit awkward. Americans have Category:Films featuring a Best Actor Academy Award winning performance. I don't want to break categories to that extent. I am happy with on-screen and off-screen awards. But what can be a good name for that? We don't categorize Best Director in technical awards and nor is that an acting award. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:50, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Do we really need to split the award winners into separate categories? I'm ok with first category but rest are not required if we have Category:National Film Award winners.
We are not splitting winner biographies. I am proposing split of film articles. 1st category will be the main category in this that will have "films" that won awards; "NFA for Best ABC film". The other two categories will have film articles that have performances that won NFAs. Like Best Editing, Best Supporting Actress, Best Narration/Voice-over.
In that case, second category wont suffice. It would have only 4 acting related pages. Other awards would neither fall into acting nor technical. Do you know any category expert? - Vivvt • (Talk) 17:18, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Hmm! No!
Lets take it to one of the category experts, once we are done with all NFAs.

We grew up on his non-sense verses, and even now often use lines from his poems in day-to-day conversations. Unfortunately it is very difficult to convey the same flavor when such poems are translated to other languages. I doubt whether there is any good translations available in other languages.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:56, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

FYI

Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/National Film Award for Best Actress/archive1 Vensatry (Ping me) 08:22, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

I am currently busy with lot of non-wiki activities, so might not get chance to review it. That also reminds be of 59NFA for FLC. Its long pending due to copyright issues! But nonetheless, all the best for FLC. - Vivvt • (Talk) 17:05, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

Infobox change

The term "currently held by" gives me an impression that the award is rotating, like Cricket World Cup which goes from one team to another and is thus "held by" someone at that given moment. NFAs are permanently give. How about "recent awardee"? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:03, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

Thats true. I will change it accordingly (or you can as well, in case you want to). Also, you may have seen some of the pages I have pushed for PR for future FLC. We can also raise a request for GoCE now. It would take lot of time due to backlog. - Vivvt • (Talk) 04:09, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Done in infobox. Will do it on all pages now. Done with all pages also.
I noticed the GR's PR. Will request at GoCE too. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:23, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Requests#Geet_Ramayan. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:19, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I will try to search for the relevant images and might also tweak something here-n-there. - Vivvt • (Talk) 05:22, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
There is a fair chance that an image for each song is available. But wouldn't that crowd in the table? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:27, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
It would but then we can create a gallery like 59th, if required. Or else will find some other way. - Vivvt • (Talk) 05:29, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Started gallery on overall Ramayana here. Am surprised it did not already exist. Even Mahabharata is missing. Should we have a separate one for only these 56 images? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:21, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
No. Lets not have separate one for those 56. Does not add any value as such. - Vivvt • (Talk) 14:48, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Vibhavari Deshpande

While working on Paresh Mokashi, did you come across any DYKy fact about her? You are welcome to add. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:07, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Not that I know as of now. Btw, are you creating articles once you get a free image from commons? :P - Vivvt • (Talk) 14:54, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Okay! Yeah! Images gives an impression that subject is notable. People think twice before AfDing it. :) §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 16:11, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Ok. Let me AfD her after my third thought. :P Jokes apart but is she really notable? I wouldnt search for her. I would rather go for another Vibhavari...that Joshi Apte who earned lot of acclaim for the single hindi song rendition "Saiba" from Guzaarish and Kaksparsh lately. But waiting for NFA to declare this year to create her article :P - Vivvt • (Talk) 01:43, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Apart from playing wives of notable people in films, (Is that her criteria for signing films?) Deshpande also writes scripts for plays and TV shows. She is active in theater; directed one Kannada play in 2006. More info to come out. Give your 4th thought now. And lets create your Vibhavari's article too. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:46, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Ya. Even I've observed her in only those roles and I donno why. You may want to see this. - Vivvt • (Talk) 14:54, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Couldn't find anything interesting. Hence released this article yesterday. Played Phalke's and Rajhans' wife would have been a lame DYK. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 12:08, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
Good. Not every article is worth DYK, so let it be. - Vivvt • (Talk) 14:11, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Uhhooo uhhooo! Did you know ... that cricketer Kevin Pietersen (pictured) joined the Delhi Daredevils in 2012? On that lines, Deshpande acted in so and so film in year YYYY would also be passable. Most of the times, reviewers don't fail DYK noms for its un-hooky-ness but for other minor reasons like ce and 5 fold expansion. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:47, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

What kind of DYK is that?!?!?! Damn! One of my dyks (read - current and last-minute) is going thru lot of different issues. But still I hope for the best. Its not yet 21st here though :P - Vivvt • (Talk) 03:53, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Sometimes its just your bad luck and sometimes its just that you are not American. Adding "Slumdog Millionaire fame" was not really necessary. I personally don't appreciate his and Gulzar's that work. Anyways.... lets wait for Nostradamus' prophecy of some Indian great leader coming to super-powers to turn true. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:09, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

So Mokashi and Deshpande were both associated with the Indo-German group Grips-Theater. And when Mokashi went to direct his first film, Deshpande was cast in it, after her break for household reasons. If only original researches were allowed here..... §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:40, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

It wouldn't be called as OR as we have ref for both of them working for Grips. Have they work together for Grips or not is what we donno. Putting that in an article would be OR. - Vivvt • (Talk) 17:13, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
So that's the point. Or else i wouldn't be interested if they have worked under one group. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:56, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Kadal (film)

I myself removed the fan made posters of the film and uploaded official one that were released and sourced too. How can you do this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arjann (talkcontribs) 19:52, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

The one added was not released by official media partner so cannot be considered as official. It has to come from official source. FB pages and other will be not considered official till then. - Vivvt • (Talk) 19:56, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

59th NFA awards proceedings

Although I did not read the list of late, I think it is ok to submit it for FLC, given that GoCE copyediting has been done recently. So far as citations of the awards are concerned, I am of the opinion that those are not essential, that is, deleting them do not constitute lack of comprehensiveness. This list, from my PoV, merely enlists the recipients in a listy (tabular) form, alongwith appropriate (often explanatory) text in the lead and other sections. This was the major concern besides prose in the previous FLC. So, it's time for re-FLC.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:27, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Peer review

Thanks for asking me to do peer review of the article Geet Ramayan which is a very good article even otherwise. I will be glad to look into it after about a week as I am currently busy with finalising 17 articles of Provinces of Laosunder a single DYK hook, in association with User:Dr. Blofeld and User:Rosiestep, and a few new Hinduism articles with User:Redtigerxyz.--Nvvchar. 07:28, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

I have done some editing on Geet Ramayan. Please check the spellings of various names. They differ very much in the table. Few observations for you to look into. Are the songs arranged in the order in which Ramayana unfolded? Some names have to be introduced in the beginning such names of wives of Dasharatha, names of sons of Tataki, etc. A little more explanations in the table will be better.--Nvvchar. 04:31, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

Good going

Great going on Swayamvaram! There may be some persisting anomalies on the style of author names, but that is not a requirement for GA.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:20, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Did you check all the online references for copy-vio/close paraphrasing? I will get back to this article in a few days. It might have good chance in FAC even, especially if some content on style/theme may be added.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:33, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Did you add anything from that book?--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:30, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Haha, ok. Will complete the review in one week, hopefully. Did you try to find anymore copyvio or close paraphrasing? There are some suspicios sentences , but I have not double checked those. --Dwaipayan (talk) 18:25, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
There are still copy vio problems. I chanced upon this source, and some sentences are simply copied from here to the article.--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:15, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

FLC

Hello sir, I observed your contribution on all your all articles and now, I'm your fan. Well, I am new to wikipedia and had contibuted little bit to this large and special land of articles. I want your help regarding FLC of Priyanka Chopra list of Awards and Nominations. Could you please help me regarding the list and even its review would be a great help. Thank You.Pks1142 (talk) 08:49, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Looking at the current state of the list, it would be tough for you to make it FLC. However, I will try to put my comments whenever I get chance. - Vivvt • (Talk) 22:26, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
Hello sir, why ? Pls point out the weak point. I'll work on that and pls guide me for improving the list as I really want to take a list to FLC. Your contributions will help us to to have another FLC. ThanksPks1142 (talk) 10:52, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Infinite Love

Hello. I have replaced the external links which you removed from this page. The song was officially released through YouTube. SO I don't think there is a copyright problem in giving the YouTube links of the song. Moreover, I have seen official many Wikipedia pages which list youtube videos as External links. See these good articles: You Belong with Me, Fearless (Taylor Swift song) etc. Thanks. Rahmaniacs (talk) 16:29, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

You may give links to ARR's channel than the actual video. He himself does not hold the copyrights of the video. And in case he does, Wikipedia would need a official email from him. Please read WP:YOUTUBE. The links from other pages should also be removed. - Vivvt • (Talk) 16:41, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Kadal

What do you think? I'm crazy or what? I just forgot to write the source. Here leaving my work I'm contributing to the articles, working hard and what does it take for you just to click the revert button and show me policies. My dedication to the page is never taken into account. And yes, there is no problem in maintaining that form of tracklist. Please. Stop it. I hate it when people like you remove what I did with so much efforts and just for one small mistake you revert edits.
Arjann (talk) 12:50, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Nobody here is a paid employee of Wikipedia. Everybody's taking some time out of their busy schedule and contributing, so you are not doing something different! Again, you are a newbie so its high-time for you to learn the policies now than getting frustrated about it. There is no point in getting irritated with me. If not me, somebody else will do the same thing sooner or later. Learn and follow so you dont get a feeling of "oh-my-efforts-gone-vain-cry-cry". Nobody's your enemy. - Vivvt • (Talk) 01:21, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

So tell me, why did you remove the chart positioning on iTunes. I have the reference. The last sentence itself You don' see the reference and just remove things. What the hell? See this link : http://twitpic.com/bm19g3 This is the reference. And just stop it ok. Have you even seen/or listened to the Telugu version online? The song "Mamathe Neevule" Haricharan by (Choir by: Chennai Chorale Group), its length is 04:10, confirmed. So what are you upto. You think I'm doing all this with foolishness? I'm doing things and edits with utter care. Huh!!!!!!
Arjann (talk) 08:09, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

Examples of copy vio in Swayamvaram

  • "It was a departure from films laden with the usual ingredients of melodrama, slapstick comedy, music, and dance". same sentence in this Hindu article.
  • "Swayamvaram laid its emphasis on the cinema rather than the story. So far as Malayalam cinema was concerned, it was an inevitable development. The impulses aroused by Swayamvaram were more important than the film itself. It helped film-goers to acquire a new awareness about the art of the cinema" copied from this book If you are unable to find that, just copy-paste the whole sentences in google search box, and search. You can also do google book search.--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:07, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Request

I don't want to edit anymore though I'd always love to contribute to articles, a lot. Wanted to know things from you as well. I began very positively, I'm still interested but now things don't seem to be right. You carry on. All the best Vivvt, bye.
Arjann (talk) 15:21, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

You don't have to get discouraged for any reason. Rather, leaving Wikipedia for some of the differences with other editors would not be a wise decision. We would like you to stay, learn and improve Wikipedia. Thats why we all are here. Again, you are anytime welcome to contact me. You can either ask here or email me thru "Email this user" option. - Vivvt • (Talk) 15:46, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Re: 2

I can not understand which film you are talking about? Can you give any 1 reference where the film has been mentioned! If you can find the full video in Youtube, you can check length there! It is sometimes very effective!--Tito Dutta (talk) 14:43, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

No I have not seen the film. The run time of 15 minutes has a supporting reference from the entry on Two in satyajit ray.org website.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:08, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
