Speedy deletion nomination of Violeta - The Biz

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Violeta - The Biz, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

  • It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Violeta - The Biz, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Valenciano (talk) 08:22, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Violeta - The Biz. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. - Happysailor (Talk) 08:27, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Violeta: The Biz

Regarding your article, there were a few issues with it that would need to be taken care of before this could come back. The first is that here at Wikipedia, we strongly discourage users from writing articles about themselves, which appears to be the case here. Secondly, the text of the article appeared to be primarily copied from another webpage, which is a potential copyright violation. I saw that you said you owned the page you were copying from, but unfortunately, without some sort of legal notice on the original page releasing the text into the public domain, we just don't have any way to verify that you're the owner, so we can't use it as it is. Thirdly, the text of the page came off as self-promotion; that is, it read like an advertisement. That's against our policies too; we require all articles here to be written from the neutral point of view, meaning that they don't advocate anything or support any specific opionion. Lastly, the article didn't cite any reliable sources, like newspapers or major informational sites, which is another thing we require. In other words, the article had a lot of issues, and as it was, it would have been very difficult to rewrite to fit our standards.

This isn't to say that there can't ever be a Violeta article here, but the problems I listed will need to be addressed first. I'd recommend working on it in your sandbox a bit first, starting from scratch. Try reading our articles on how to write a Wikipedia article, and maybe ask here for a more experienced editor to look over your article before you submit it. I know this is a lot to take in at once, and some of this can be confusing, so please, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. InShaneee (talk) 11:44, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.
