WikiProject Guyana edit

Hi there!

I noticed you've been doing some great work on some Guyana-related articles. Is there any chance you would like to join up to WikiProject Guyana? All best, Lorelei (talk) 16:17, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello again! Thank you for getting back to me so fast :) Firstly, thanks so much for the work you've done already: coverage of Guyana on wikipedia is really not great at the moment and these contributions you've made already are hugely appreciated :) Also, I just thought I'd say, I know when I first started doing bits of work on Wikipedia I thought that I wouldn't be able to do much as I'd only be able to work on (the few) articles that related to things I had some expertise in. I've realised over the last few months though that you really don't have to be an expert to work on an article - if you're interested in it, that's enough, and it can be a chance to learn more. I think it's true to say that's the case with all the articles I've worked on: I've started off knowing a bit or having an interest and then by the end of the article I've learnt loads more! Please don't take this as my trying to talk you into doing anything - you should do exactly what suits you on wikipedia of course, and as much or little as suits you - but I thought I'd say it just because I'm really pleased I've stuck around and realised that I can work on all sorts of articles. What counts most really is the editing skills I think and understanding how a good article is put together - and you already have that, clearly (the Hew Locke article is ace). And coverage of contemporary Guyanese art - indeed art in Guyana in general - has loads of gaps, and lots of articles that could do with improvements (like Stanley Greaves, for example)...
At any rate, whatever you decide to do - thanks so much for the work you've done.
Oh, and thank you for thinking of someone else to contact. Yes, Aymatth (who created the Donald Locke article; and one on the Working People's Art Class) is from what I've seen an amazing editor and an absolute expert on everything (not just Guyana!!)
All best,
Lorelei (talk) 17:17, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
