Great work, looks awesome! I started the article as a stub, thinking the Cajun box was distinct enough (technically and culturally) from the Diatonic Accordion article as to merit its own. Really glad to see that so many knowledgeable folks have added great content! MatthewVanitas (talk) 23:36, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:VariseConner.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:VariseConner.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 03:51, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU

edit

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:14, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Zydeco Junkie.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Zydeco Junkie.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:05, 14 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dynamic map

edit

It has been a while since I made that map - I am pretty I used MS Paint to get the rough coordinates in pixels, then adjusted the position of the dots by hand so that they looked right. Some dots are slightly off their true position so that they do not overlap other dots (when two parks are very close together). Not sure if you have seen {{State parks of Illinois map}} - it is also by me but has different colors for different kinds of protected areas. Good luck! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:16, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Looks good - it is funny since the dots are 5 pixels wide in both maps, but they somehow look smaller in the Louisiana map than they do in the Pennsylvania map. Take care and keep up the good work, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:41, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
It really depends, but we usually use the year the park opened as a separate recognized facility as the date founded. Many parks in Pennsylvania are on state forest land, so the land was owned by the state long before it became a park. Some parks were originally state forest public campsites or picnic areas so we use the year the campsite or picnic area opened. Others were developed over several years, but had an official opening, so we use that date. Still others are on land the state bought to become a park, but we typically use when the park opened (not when the land was acquired). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:49, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album

edit

Thanks for your assistance with the GA review! Hopefully all concerns have been addressed. I see you have an interest in cajun music. I am not sure if you are up to the challenge or not, but something to keep in mind is that (assuming you enjoyed writing articles about musicians and albums) it would not be too difficult to create a Good Topic for "Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album" if the articles for award-winning musicians and albums were brought up to GA status. Just a thought since there are only four musicians and four albums. Thanks again for the help! --Another Believer (Talk) 22:26, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have not done enough research to see if there are many sources discussing these artists/albums. I saw you started Zydeco Junkie--I created stubs for Live! Worldwide and Lay Your Burden Down if you are interested in expanding. Best wishes! --Another Believer (Talk) 22:32, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Feufollet

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Feufollet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ridernyc (talk) 04:19, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:J. B. Fuselier.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. (ESkog)(Talk) 20:40, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Chubby Carrier albums

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Chubby Carrier albums indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 18:40, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
