Welcome to my talk!

Hello! I am a new user on Wikipedia, and I recently received some personal messages on my article. Can anyone tell me how to recover them? Thanks!

There's no need. I got your message. Thanks!

Welcome!

Hello, Vemund, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Considering your age and background, your English and knowledge of the Cold War is quite impressive! Congratulations on your work so far!

If you have any specific suggestions for improving the article, you can post them on Talk:Cold War. In the meantime, I recommend that you look at the sites linked to the welcome template in order to get help finding your way around Wikipedia. BTW, you may be interested in the Norwegian Wikipedia, which also has an article on the Cold War (Den kalde krigen). 172 17:39, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

Thanks for the response! I see now that my article only worked as a summary. I visited the Norwegian version of the Cold War, and I remembered at a glance that I had been there before; namely when I did my research for my article. However; I have noticed that you quite often delete additions to articles (done by others), and give the reason: "It is like an essay, and not proper as an encyclopaedic article," etc.. Not that I mind, though... I hope we'll keep in touch later, if the opportunity offers! Vemund 17:55, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Perhaps you could add yourself (i.e. your user page) to Category:Wikipedians in Norway?

I should! But I didn't understand much of it (i.e. the page I came to), can you (or someone else) tell me how to do it? Thx!

Hello! I'm glad you are interested in contributing to Wikipedia. We welcome new articles about subjects of encyclopaedic significance. The article you created, Vemund, appears to be primarily about yourself, people you know, or your own ideas. As such it has been marked for deletion. If I've misunderstood the article, please go to the article and follow the instructions in the banner to respond.

For a quick overview of Wikipedia's policies, see the five pillars of Wikipedia. You can still create other articles about encyclopaedic subjects. If you can't think of a subject, you can check the recent requests or improve an existing article.

Hi! If you are talking of the Vemund article, I just wanted to create a small introduction for the name, and not a large article. And I know that no one is ever going to make an article of the subject if not me. Additionally, all the facts in the article are correct, and even though there should be some slips, they're not as big so that people get the wrong impression or idea of the name. I really don't see what harm it does; just laying there in case someone needs an urgent explanation of the name, or if someone just want to see what it means. It is, indeed, very brief, but until now, very few have visited it, so I see no point in deleting it. If someone wants to tell me how to improve or change it, they can! I say: Rather a bad article than none... Finally, I want to assure you of that the article is entirely about me; I am in fact Vemund. =)

Why?

edit

Why has my article on the name Vemund been deleted without letting my know first? OK, there were warnings on the page that it would may be removed after it had been discussed, but no one has answered me since my last reply, so I don't see the case as closed. Who did this and why? See Wikipedia:Guide to deletion for information about the procedure and then see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vemund. --Perfecto 19:48, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
