Redirects

A redirect is a page that has the sole purpose to automatically redirect readers to a differently named page; to take the reader where they really wanted to go. Redirects allow a topic to have more than one title. Redirects are used for synonyms, abbreviations (initialisms), acronyms, accented terms (diacritics), misspellings, typos, nicknames (pseudonyms), scientific names, etc.

To create a redirect for the term "Oof":

  1. Type Oof in the search box, press ↵ Enter
  2. Click on the redlink for Oof that it presents
  3. In the edit window that appears, type #REDIRECT [[Foo]] on the first line to make it lead to the article Foo
  4. Redirects should be organized in to categories too. Each redirect can have up to seven redirect categories. Categories go on the third line of the redirect. (Note: Plant has a subcategory within the category of scientific name; enter plant after a pipe).

Here are two examples of a redirect category using a category template:

  • {{R from birth name}}
  • {{R from scientific name|plant}}

Preview your new redirect before saving it. Make sure:

  1. There is a big right-facing arrow to the left of the bolded name of your target page name.
  2. That your target page is bolded in blue (if it is red, go back and double check your target name in the edit window).
  3. That your redirect category has rendered properly and that the boilerplate it presents makes sense.

Hello VarisGrin. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Given the recent disruption by yourself, AnnaPech and Afueras, almost certainly not. Disclosures are a requirement, but using Wikipedia for promotion as you have all been doing is forbidden, regardless. SmartSE (talk) 09:43, 11 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Because I would like to contribute to other Wikipedia pages.

While indeed due to lack of my own attention to COI policy in Wikipedia, I disruptively edited one page, I certainly would not make the same mistake ever again and would still appreciate an option to contribute to other subjects on Wikipedia.

As I was going through Wikipedia guidelines, I noticed a suggestion not to create new accounts, thus I would like to use the one I have already.

Yes, I can give a couple of examples. One of the pages I would like to contribute is "Health care" in this case I would like to contribute to Health care accessibility part; while indeed "Access to health care may vary across countries, communities, and individuals, largely influenced by social and economic conditions ..." I believe a paragraph of overall "barriers" to health care accessibility would be a good contribution. An example of contribution: The barriers to health care accesibility can be classified in three blocs: Structural (such as transportation); Financial (such as insurance coverage); Personal (language, attitude, income) which of course in the end affects use of medical services, efficacy of treatments and overall outcome (well being, mortality rates). The second example also is Health care related - "Rural health" I would like to contribute to a part of Physical environment and add information about transportation (the distance, time, lack of transportation, need to take time off work), thus making transportation costs as additional costs to receive medical attention. As you have more experience in regard of Wikipedia entries, I wanted to ask, maybe you could share an advice on how we could add a list of notable authors in acceptable manner?
