Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Crossmiles8. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article List of lead vocalists, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Please don't use Wikipedia to try to promote your band or yourself. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:14, 15 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

There's no question that your band exists. If it meets WP:MUSICBIO, create an article for it, or request that one be made, but please stop adding it to lists. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:28, 15 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently been editing gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, which has been designated a contentious topic. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Edit Requests edit

Please stop setting requests to unanswered because you don't like the answers you're getting. Edit requests are specifically for uncontroversial changes. If something is being discussed or awaiting further input then the request is marked as answered until there is consensus for the edit request to move forward. If you continue this disruption you will be blocked. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:03, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I can disagree with an answer I’m getting and consider a request unanswered. How dare you threaten me with a block because you don’t like my stance or position? Who do you think you are? Somebody is letting their power as an editor get to their head a little too much. Crossmiles8 (talk) 15:28, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
The request is specifically to have an edit with no objections and that isn't contentious implemented. Having the request marked closed doesn't remove your ability to make your case, and if consensus is established for the edit then it can be reopened. I warned you because there are edit request patrollers who's time is wasted checking on requests that clearly do not have consensus. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:53, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
