Draft:Van der Waals Prize

Hey, I'll leave this one for you.   ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:33, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Ha! I think that might be a WP:COI. :) S0091 (talk) 21:35, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Oh no! Lol, I already did. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 21:38, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Be careful about citing essays rather than guidelines because essays do not have community consensus. S0091 (talk) 21:41, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
@S0091 That's true, thank you! But, the draft still doesn't pass, right? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 21:42, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
The relevant notability guideline is GNG and agree, it does not pass. What I see time and again with awards is they always want to tout notable people who have received the award but notability is not inherited. In addition, most often the awardees have already received a major award, like they are already won Nobel prize so of course they will get these other low level prizes. It's meaningless. S0091 (talk) 21:48, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
@S0091 That's a huge point you have. Many thanks :) Vanderwaalforces (talk) 21:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
@WikiOriginal-9 If this is the only review I do today, it's worth it. Because, lol. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 21:40, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Draft: Syed Zainul Abideen

How is it unsourced i added like 8 sources — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goobagoo (talkcontribs) 03:49, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

@Goobagoo Please, always place new discussions at the bottom of discussion pages. Your subject of your draft doesn't appear notable. There's WP:SIGCOV in reliable sources that is independent of the subject. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 05:25, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
"The following are presumed to be notable:
Politicians and judges who have held international, national, or (for countries with federal or similar systems of government) state/province–wide office, or have been members of legislative bodies at those levels."
-Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Basic criteria
One of the books I cited was a biography on just him – not simply a passing mention.
I think it would also be considered notable that he was involved in the founding of a culturally important university. Goobagoo (talk) 05:46, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
Please resubmit the draft for review and another reviewer will give it a look. Regards, Vanderwaalforces (talk) 06:23, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
Ok but can you comment on what I just raised? How can you say the person isn't notable when he meets Wikipedia's guidelines? And when there is a book written on him, how can you say my article is unsourced or based on passing references? I obviously will resubmit but that's going to take another 3 months. Goobagoo (talk) 21:49, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
How can you say this doesn't meet significant coverage standard when there is a book on the guy? Goobagoo (talk) 21:57, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
Shouldn't a biography of him meet sigcov? And shouldn't him being a judge meet notability guidlines for persons anyway? And the fact that he is buried in the university's central mosque and that he has a street named for him only add on to that, no? Goobagoo (talk) 22:06, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Hi @Goobagoo: that book source looks alright but for notability we need multiple pieces of in-depth coverage that are not written by or affiliated with the subject. I can't evaluate the offline sources listed in the draft to see if there is in-depth coverage. Could you find some more sources or tell us what the offline sources specifically say about Syed Zainul Abideen? The coverage has to be in-depth, not just passing mentions of him. Thank you for your help.  . ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:21, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Yes will look. But what about the fact that he is a judge? I thought that was then guaranteed notability? Is this not the case? Goobagoo (talk) 01:16, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
@Goobagoo: Not all judges are notable. Mostly just national or state/province judges per WP:JUDGE. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:21, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Humbly requesting you to support your decision on the Jasper AI page

@Vanderwaalforces, I worked hard on Jasper AI, and you approved it (With good judgement). I am humbly requesting your support to nominate the page to be kept in the AfD discussion. Although I am sure you can find it, the discussion page is here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jasper AI

If you believe you rightfully approved it, I respectfully ask for you support in maintaining it. Thank you. Comintell (talk) 06:04, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Weakend Productions

Draft:Weakend Productions

Hi, just want to let you know that I am trying to improve the article, expanding it, and adding more references. Also, I am adding links to the content the company produced (citing) By the way I am trying my best in this article. 79.45.201.254 (talk) 17:58, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Great! That sounds good. It's important for you to know that you should not use YouTube, IMDb and Website of the Weakend Productions as a source as the first two are unreliable and the last one is primary. Regards, Vanderwaalforces (talk) 09:12, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Please help me

Dear Vanderwaalforces, Hello, Nice to meet you, I declined this and this and tagged for deletion under G11 but I seee our Page curation log and both two draft was are automatically tagged as reviewed, But I did not mark two drafts as reviewed, but I don't know how both got tagged., I do not understand how did this happen?can you tell me what should I do? Thnx  :( ~~ αvírαm|(tαlk) 13:19, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

@Aviram7 Hi there, I'm not sure it's something serious. After all, it the page(s) has been deleted. If you tag for speedy deletion with the page curation interface, it's possible that it automatically marks it as reviewed, just like Twinkle does when nominating AfDs. I haven't really tried tagging pages for deletions using Page Curation. Maybe @WikiOriginal-9 knows? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 13:50, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Aviram7: I'm not sure. I think if you tag it for deletion using Twinkle or something, it automatically gets reviewed. Of course, since you have the new page reviewer right, you can go ahead and unreview it if you'd like. However, in this case, it appears your reviews were correct since the articles ended up being deleted. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:00, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Dear Vanderwaalforces and Dear @WikiOriginal-9: Hello, I had rejected both those articles during review in WP:AFC and nominated them for speedy deletion, that too using Twinkle tool because I don't find it appropriate to use page curation tool in AFC, please see this 1 and 2 and Afc log Yes, I admit, I have edited two articles with the page curation tool. Nominated for deletion, please see 1 and 2, whether this tool can be automatically disabled and re-enabled when needed? Thnx :(~~ αvírαm|(tαlk) 14:44, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
@Aviram7 Nice, that settles it then. Since you used Twinkle, that’s the behaviour. You should not worry about anything else. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 14:44, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
The Page Curation toolbar doesn't actually appear on drafts, so it being marked as "reviewed" doesn't really matter for AFC, unless someone moved it to mainspace, in which case you could "unreview" it if you like using Page Curation. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:32, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Bryan Corbett – Considering new sources.

Hi @Vanderwaalforces,

I want to thank you again for reviewing the Draft:Bryan Corbett article. Per your comments about sources that are not just citing him, but are actually about him, I found this article that I believe will satisfy this issue of notability and source reliability: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-08/carlyle-partner-tapped-by-hedge-fund-industry-to-run-lobby-group

Please let me know your thoughts on this and whether this is ready to be implemented in the current draft for another review.

Best, AdPython (talk) 15:03, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

@AdPython Hi there. I don't access to Bloomberg subscription, but you can simply add that as a citation in the draft, and resubmit for a reviewer to look. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 15:37, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Daniel Connell - removed YouTube links

Hi @Vanderwaalforces, thanks for your feedback on Draft: Daniel Connell. I have removed the YouTube links as requested. Can you kindly inform me what the next steps are? Thanks Brazeneyepiece (talk) 08:12, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

@Brazeneyepiece Hi there. You can resubmit it and a reviewer will check it out. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:14, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Vanderwaalforces Brazeneyepiece (talk) 03:12, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Nels Andrew Olson

Rejected for lack of sourcing. Much of the unsourced material in the article is entirely uncontroversial. Can you offer a brief example of the kind of thing that does not meet Wikipedia standards? Cliolog (talk) 17:30, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

@Cliolog Hi there. You draft is lacking citations in many positions. Because it is a BLP, every claim main must be backed up with at least one source. There are a lot of sentences (even paragraphs) missing citations to source. Please fix those. Where did you get those information from? Simply cite the sources you got the information from and that's it. You can resubmit it any time for a reviewer to give it a look (preferrably after you have worked on it). Vanderwaalforces (talk) 17:39, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for such a prompt reply. Are interviews with the subject or his curriculum vitae qualifying sources, or does that constitute "original research"? I know the subject, but I am not compensated for submitting. Again, some specific examples would be helpful. Does, for example, the assertion of the subject's birth date require citation? Or, for example, "Olson obtained a B.A. in Biochemistry from Reed College in 1989". This assertion is uncontroversial and easily verified, but does it require citation of public source material? Are these "claim main"? Cliolog (talk) 18:06, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
@Cliolog That's it really. All claims, from date of birth to tiny details, must be verifiable. Citations to Interviews with him, and his CV are going to be considered primary sources (see WP:PRIMARY) and not secondary sources (see WP: SECONDARY). Which means you should not use them. Rejection of Draft:Jeffrey B. Perry

Hello. You declined the draft of this page I have been working on... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Jeffrey_B._Perry I was hoping I could get a little guidance on what sources I am still missing. I've gone through many drafts already it seems to me I have a source for every detail. I really don't understand. Is the issue more with the quality of the sources themselves? I'm happy at this point to simply not include any 'unsourced' biographic details and just at least have the page discuss his published works and the academic reception to them. But I still need to know what the offending details are. Any guidance at all is appreciated thank you Pushingrocks (talk) 14:55, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

@Pushingrocks Hi there, I am pleased to offer my assistance on the page about Perry. Upon reviewing the cited sources, I have identified a few issues. For instance, consider the first paragraph in the "Early Life and Education" subsection of the "Life" section. Several claims made here require citations from reliable sources. The only source cited in this paragraph, (https://www.jeffreybperry.net/newsletter465004.htm), does not adequately verify all the claims made. Furthermore, it does not meet the INDEPENDENT criteria as it is Perry's own website. While the coverage is significant, the source should be independent of the subject. The actual material being cited here is https://www.jeffreybperry.net/images/millsperry_2.jpg, which can only be considered independent if there is an alternative way to cite the source without going through Perry's website, such as an online version of the newspaper or by generating the citation using the {{Cite newspaper}} template. Specifically, the citation did not confirm that Perry was born in October 1946; it merely stated that Perry was born in the Bronx. The rest of the paragraph appears to be verifiable based on the paper.
The subsequent paragraph, which states He was educated at Princeton (BA, 1968), Harvard (Education 1968-1969), Rutgers (Labor Studies MA, 1976), and Columbia (History MA, 1979 and Ph. D., 1986)., is entirely unsourced. Therefore, a citation is needed at the end to verify these claims.
Upon examining the "Academic and Political Life" subsection, I found discrepancies in the interpretation of the cited source (https://portside.org/2022-10-01/long-live-jeff-perry). For example, the source states, "Somehow in the 70s Jeff managed to get into the Harvard Ed school but left because of the elitism and liberal hypocrisy." and "We hitchhiked to Vassar and other women’s colleges, desperate, but unsuccessful, at meeting someone, to bring to all male Princeton for a weekend date, like all the prep school guys seemed to be doing". However, you wrote, At Harvard, while in the Graduate School of Education, he did draft resistance work (and resisted the draft). He then left Harvard to hitchhike across the USA, the Caribbean and Argentina., which is not clearly verifiable from the sole cited source.
Please ensure that the content accurately reflects what the sources state. I suspect there may be additional issues, which prompted me to cease my review. I encourage you to thoroughly review the entire article, properly cite your sources, and ensure they are RELIABLE, INDEPENDENT of the subject, and clearly VERIFY the claims made. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:19, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
This is helpful thank you. Pushingrocks (talk) 18:36, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Sources failing verification

Hello Vanderwaalforces: I noticed that some of your creations use references to sources that are completely unrelated to the preceding text. See, for example, the cases I marked as failed verification at Okada (Nigeria) and Ramat Park. How did you manage to get these sources there? How are they related to the text? Is this practice a general problem in your articles, or did I just happen to casually stumble upon two isolated mistakes? Best, MarioGom (talk) 11:13, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

@MarioGom Hi there. These are part of my early articles and I intend to go through them to find issues like this. Thank you for informing me because I am very much aware of it and I am going to fix them. Regards. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 11:45, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
Let me ask more bluntly: have you added random references unrelated to the content to more articles? MarioGom (talk) 11:54, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
I cannot be adding "random references unrelated to the content" of the articles I create, at least not since I have become vast in content policies. If you find articles that has verification issues (which I doubt) then they should be articles I created when I was very new, and all you should please do is let me know so that I can fix them just as you did with the two above. You've not been the only one that has informed me of this, and you can not find this issue in all my creations. Thank you. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:08, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
Alright. I will let you know if I find any other. Best, MarioGom (talk) 12:10, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you, I eagerly anticipate. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:19, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

@Jfricker Hi there. It appears you have done quite a neat job with the article. Nice one.
@WikiOriginal-9 do you mind taking a look at Draft:James Casey (musician), you might want to mark James Casey (musician) with G6. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 14:48, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the thoughts Vanderwaalforces but I think I'll pass on this review.   ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 20:28, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
