August 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Waldo, did not appear to be constructive and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. See Waldo, Jersey City. Whether or not something currently exists is not relevant to Wikipedia. As you may have notice lots of dead people, demolished buildings, former countries, etc. have articles on Wikipedia. If you think the Waldo entry should be deleted, nominate the Waldo, Jersey City for deletion (see WP:AFD). Otherwise, the disambiguation page you edited should continue to have the entry you deleted. Disambiguation pages exist only to direct people to the correct article and should contain a list of every reasonable use of the term, which would include any existing article such as the Jersey City "place" you removed. If the actual article is deleted, then and only then should the link be removed from the disambiguation page. See the link above in the new welcome details for help and hints with editing. Happy editing. Aboutmovies (talk) 19:24, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I understand the situation, but though it did not physically exist, the name was used to describe the area, correct? Unless this is incorrect, nothing really needs to happen with deletion and such. The article may need to be re-written, but I'm not from that side of the country. Think of it like this, you know what WALDO is in the Jersey City context, thus the term exists in usage, thus people may want to find out what that is, thus the come to Wikipedia to find out. The disambiguation page you edited helps in the locating of the article for the reader. Similarly, the Boeing Sonic Cruiser never existed. I hope that helps explain the situation. OK, final comment. I don't care about WALDO. I really do not care about WALDO, NJ. Never did, never will. The entire reason your edit was reverted was because there is an article and the name has been used, thus until that article disappears, the disambiguation page needs to stay the same. If you did get a WP:CONSENSUS to do anything to the Waldo, NJ article, the disambiguation page would still need to have an entry, but it could be linked to a different article. As to the actual article on WALDO, Jersey City, again I don't care about WALDO, if you don't think there should be an article or it should be merged, or whatever, discuss that on the article's talk page at Talk:Waldo, Jersey City.
