Gérard Depardieu

edit

I noticed you tried to make a consensus version in the page. I congratulate you on that, but i believe it won't work. The issue has gonne beyond simple reason and has turned more into a user-war against me, where i got pushed out of the article by means of |uncivil actions and general bashing at the talk page. Anyway, i hope you succeed in what i did not, and bid you best of luck! -R.Arden (talk) 18:54, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I think we'll get more details on this whole Depardieu issue tomorrow, 'cause now it's close to midnight in Europe. --Victortalk 21:38, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Surely. Thanks for the attention, in advance. -R.Arden (talk) 21:43, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Scouting ranks (Scout Association of Japan).png

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Scouting ranks (Scout Association of Japan).png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Blurred Lines 15:38, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Restore old photo in Photoshop and go to museum on weekend to try to take pics.   --Victortalk 06:29, 7 November 2013 (UTC).Reply
I really don't think you should be trying to take photos in violation of the museum's rules. I also live in Boston and if I thought that was a viable approach I would have done it years ago. EEng (talk) 06:40, 7 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
No, I'll try to get their permission (lo-res, part of the image or smth like this) for Wiki.  --Victortalk 07:16, 7 November 2013 (UTC).Reply
You really better talk to them before you go -- phone number on this page. EEng (talk) 12:50, 7 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
I want to visit this museum anyway, never been there.  --Victortalk 05:19, 8 November 2013 (UTC).Reply
The public display is small but fascinating, if a little sad sometimes -- skeletons of conjoined twins and so on. And of course there's nothing like the serenity of knowing that you have set eyes on the world's largest gallstone. It's actually inside the Countway Library, so you have to show a picture ID (doesn't have to be Harvard) at the front to get in. Even though the library is open practically 24 hrs, the museum is only M-F 9-5. The reason I say you should call first is that, whatever the chance of getting an OK to take a photo, there's no was in hell you can get permission on the spot the same day. Harvard is a wonderful place but they do have their ponderous procedures. You'd absolutely have to talk with them in advance -- ask for the curator. Be sure to read the Phineas Gage article, so when you see his skull you'll know about everything he went through. EEng (talk) 14:41, 8 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Mitford tree

edit

Hi Victor,

Just saw the long series of tirades and "advice" you endured for creating the Mitford tree. I thought it's an unfortunate mix of ignorance, turf war, all stemmed from the shoddy SVG rendering engine. In this circumstance, outlining was definitely the right thing to do, and in any case, not outlining would not have helped the rendering at thumbnail sizes. Take care and don't let the negativity get to you.

Jon

Hi Jon, it's nothing new with all this situation, this has happened before, again and again, many times, so I'm not "letting negativity get to me". It's misfortune that we stuck with this "open" SVG file format at Wiki. --Victortalk 02:20, 16 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Android historical version distribution - vector

edit

Hi I'm supposed to update this file Android historical version distribution - vector which you have updated before. I run Ubuntu 14.04 and use Inkscape for this. For some reason I can't open your file and I can see that you have used Illustrator but that should not really matter.
Can you please save it in other ways; plain svg, older versions, or other way you think can work. You can send them directly to me if that is OK with you, gj@skulpturalasmycken.se
