Belated Thanks edit

This is my much (much, much, too much) belated reply to your welcome message. Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia way back in January, 2004. :) - Vishruth 17:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Captitalization edit

I didn't say anything to you over Snow Leopard, but I urge you not to take me on over this. I know the experts and you likely don't. It is unanimous practice in mammal studies not to capitalize. Both Mammal Studies and the American Journal of Mammalogy, whose editors are the authors of MSW3, do not capitalize. I have added all the references on Talk:Gee's Golden Langur. As I have indicated to you before, the standard convention of ornithology, does not carry over to mammalogy. I will soon take this up on a Wikipedia-wide basis, but until then please do not revert the few pages that I am bringing back to conventional usage. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 05:22, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

That is bad practice. Get Wiki-wide approval first, then make the changes. As things are (after I restore Gee's Golden Langur) all of the primate aritcles will be consistent. you wanna make the change, get Wiki-wide approval then change *all* of the articles, not just one or two. - UtherSRG (talk) 06:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK. Fair enough. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 08:53, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia feedback edit

Hello. I am new to the Wikipedia community and I am trying to expand on a stub article about the Algerian Hedgehog. I was wondering if you had the time if you could look over it and tell me what I could add or change. Thank you very much! User talk:Twilight19 —Preceding comment was added at 04:18, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've given it my typical cleanup edits. The biggest changes are to use the various citation templates, and to reuse citations instead of listing them multiple times. You can see this with the IUCN and Vriends citations. Also, talk about a species in the singular. - UtherSRG (talk) 14:01, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your help! I appreciate it a lot!! Twilight19 20:33, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Repeated vandalism to the Koala article edit

Would it be possible, please, to protect the Koala page, or to block the vandal who has now made the same anti-Australian racist vandalism 3 times — the latest of which was a reversion on your own reversion of the vandalism (I have now reverted back to your own edit). Thank you. The IP numbers of the vandal are 172.207.94.183 and 172.159.246.51 which are from two different computers at the same American internet provider (daha.ns.aol.com). I've protected it. - UtherSRG (talk) 14:03, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for fix edit

Thanks for you very rapid bug fix on Phascolarctos Stirtoni refs. Although I quickly tried to fix them, you beat me to it! Cheers -- NcLean 58.107.199.33 15:59, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem. :) - UtherSRG (talk) 16:00, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

dolphins edit

I will stop editing the dolphin article; but just so you know, the info I added was cited, and not vandalism. Minorcorrections 22:30, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cited or not, it's bunk. - UtherSRG (talk) 11:28, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cat edit

You deleted my image box about semi-domestic cats, calling it a 'good faith edit'. May I know what was the problem, please? Actually I was in the process of adding an image of semi-domestic cats--Anoopkn 11:45, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You should upload the image before you add the image box to an article. Otherwise, you are just adding a redlink to a nonexistant image. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:13, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Constant ULL Vandal edit

He's baaaaack. Again. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:ULL&curid=10100007&diff=168249995&oldid=167136828

This is becoming a REAL problem. Is there no more serious action we can take?--Viridistalk|contributions 13:16, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

None that I know. Take it to WP:ANI? - UtherSRG (talk) 13:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Got to do so. I looked at the page and it DOES deal with vandalism. If we could just take the guy off Wikipedia, then you could have some peace and quiet. To lighten up your day:

History of NYC meetups edit

I've been trying to clean up some of the historical pages related to past NYC meetups, some of which you seem to have been involved in. Do you know if the events for which the Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC2 and Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC3 pages were created ever took place? Thanks.--Pharos 00:08, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nope. I don't know. Sorry. - UtherSRG (talk) 03:59, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

Thank you for your compliment on Commons. Concerning accuracy, folks at the Wikiproject Dinosaurs have implemented an image review process where people can submit their dino illustrations and they are reviewed for scientific accuracy and commented by experts in the field. You might want to have something similar for prehistoric mammals. As an artist, I found this pretty useful as it help me improve me a lot. Cheers. ArthurWeasley 05:30, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm a persona nongrata with the folks who like the poor images. Can you go poke about and get the process started? - UtherSRG (talk) 13:39, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Japanese Bobtail edit

A while back, you moved Japanese Bobtail to Japanese Bobtail (cat). It looked like you were disambiguating it from a type of squid, presumably the bobtail squid. However, I'm not seeing any evidence of the term "Japanese bobtail" in the bobtail squid article. Is it still necessary to have Japanese Bobtail be a disambiguation page, or could we just move Japanese Bobtail (cat) back onto it? ENeville 21:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC) Reply

Eastern Barred Bandicoot edit

Hi,

I have noticed that you keep making major changes to the information I have written on the Eastern Barred Bandicoot page. I am currently the only person in Australia researching the Eastern Barred Bandicoot and am therefore more qualified than you to write this page. My information comes from peer reviewed, published journal articles and my own research. I do not know where you are getting you information from, but it is not entirely correct, and I would appreciate it if you didn't delete the information that I wrote.

I don't mean to sound harsh, I just wanted to let you know who I am and that the information I have written is accurate. If you have any questions regarding the Eastern Barred Bandicoot I will happily answer them for you.

Cheers

You need to follow our procedures and read our policies. What you know is not relevant. What you edit needs to be verfiable. You show that by citing your sources. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:47, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
