With permission, I updated Ben Shneiderman's entry with modified content taken from his online CV. I'm affiliated with his institution, the University of Maryland's Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL). The material is factual and not a copyright violation so I'd appreciate your restoring the updated version. I also created an entry for HCIL, based on HCIL Web site content.

What's the procedure for using, with permission, such material to create entries?

Thanks...

Hello. The procedure is at WP:COPYREQ (and see other links there). It's not really encyclopaedic to just copy someone's CV to an article - everyone allegedly lies on their CV, or at the very minimum it is probably going to be biased. It will also be uninteresting. It would be much better to re-write the relevant parts in your own words. -- zzuuzz(talk) 20:44, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

December 2019 edit

Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Jean Shepherd, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 15:04, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Couple clarifying questions on my 2019 (!) edits to Jean Shepherd page you reverted.
I added location where A Christmas Story was filmed and linked to Wikipedia page for the setting, which mentioned that filming took place there. That seemed/seems a reliable citation. Should "was filmed" have linked to same article about the house? Or do you mean that one Wikipedia page can't be cited as a source for information in another? Internal Wikipedia pages are only for definitions, not sourcing?
You took exception to my describing the gift shop as "epic" -- fair enough. What adjective would serve to indicate its size and comprehensive character? Alternative adjectives like large/comprehensive/impressive are all subjective. Surely descriptive adjectives aren't entirely prohibited.
I'll keep reading up on Wikipedia theology/practices/etc. since I'd like to contribute more.
