All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Abdul Ahad (disambiguation)

edit

Do you have any reason for this undo? Did you notice that you restored a version with a link to a *talk page*? --Ragib (talk) 16:06, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Ragib (talk) 16:09, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Can you please explain why you are hell bent on deleting this poor guy that others clearly see as 'notable'? No, you please stop Ragib, otherwise wikipedia is going to become an un-livable place. I would re-create the Abdul Ahad article, but I think you are going to speed delete him on the original AFD, even though his notability has VASTLY improved.Uranometria (talk) 16:12, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have reported your vandalism in the ANB. I also assume you are the subject of that vanity biography, and are using various sock accounts to restore links to it. See WP:N, WP:V and other related wikipedia policies. --Ragib (talk) 16:15, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ragib, I don't get paid to edit pages on wiki, I do it entirely voluntarily. Sure, if you want to block me you go ahead but I only speak from what I see as 'just' my friend :-)Uranometria (talk) 16:19, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

User:Uranometria, you need to stop and deal with other editors calmly and professionally. For the record, I am in favour of having an article on this guy, now that I know about it, but this could have been solved by discussion rather than turning it into a fight. Once somebody reverts you, talk to them, don't just revert back again. Also, links from an article to the Talk namespace are never appropriate. --tiny plastic Grey Knight 16:35, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I apologise, but yes I think this would solve a lot of issues and we can all go about happily editing the pages that we love :-)Uranometria (talk) 16:56, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
There is now a talkpage discussion about if it's appropriate to recreate or not; please use it, guys. --tiny plastic Grey Knight 17:26, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ahad's sphere

edit

What's the image name? Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:11, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is it Image:Ahad sphere solar illuminance.jpg? If so, http://www.astroscience.org/ asserted copyright over the image. Do you have any evidence that it was affirmatively released into the public domain? Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:15, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Per Astroscience.org website, the image is "Copyright © 2005 Astroscience Promotions. All rights reserved.". Unless Mr. Ahad = Uranometria = uploader etc. etc., I don't see how this image has been released to Public domain by anyone else. --Ragib (talk) 19:20, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Still at it, are we Ragib? :-) fyi, those images were already in the public domain as I pinched them from a German encyclopedic site ("astronomische" or other) at the time as I recall. See User: Sitara12 who was purportedly authorsied by Ahad to release them Uranometria (talk) 20:47, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sure, you also uploaded it, so I assume you are Mr. Ahad? There is no proof that Mr. Ahad released those in the public domain. Doesn't matter what other German site has these ... Ahad's site clearly mentions that these images are copyrighted and he reserves all rights. --Ragib (talk) 21:27, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
To Uranometria-- I have no opinion on the notability debate. Copyright violations are copyright violations, and must be deleted. I would recommend that you draw a new image expressing the same idea, then upload it under a free license. Calliopejen1 (talk) 01:13, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

RE: BAS e-mail

edit

Always pleasant when research efforts don't get stonewalled for once, isn't it? :-) If you will put an email address in your preferences, then I can use Special:EmailUser/Uranometria to get in touch with you without exposing my address to all-and-sundry. Of course, we can't source the fact to the email itself, but if Mr. Sarker says he is on their membership lists then is fine, presumably anyone with access to said lists (public?) can easily verify it. If there is a list or official announcement on the Internet then it makes our life a bit easier, but isn't really necessary. --tiny plastic Grey Knight 17:20, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks you! my e-mail is on preferences now, so I look forward to your reply. I did ask if they would publish it as a statement on the BAS website, but I think my e-mail bounced. Will try again.Uranometria (talk) 17:29, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
