I have 2 exams on the morning of the first show and 7 exams on the week after! edit

Exams aren't an excuse. Go see it on the first day. The crowd will be AMAZING. I've been looking at the Rajinifans Yahoo group and all the stills in India. So far all the tickets up to the 23 are booked in Chennai, the 15th to 17th tickets were sold within seconds of the ticket office opening. US Sivaji tickets are also sold out for the first weekend. North England tickets are sold out until Tuesday, they are opening up multiple screens to allow more tickets to be sold. I would assume that is the same for London Cineworlds. This is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity.

Cineworld ilford ruined the movie! edit

The sound sucked. Only the front speakers were on and there was no bass.

But the movie was 10/10 nonetheless. I am going to watch it again in Harrow Safari or a different NON-cineworld cinema next week. Thalaivar is the best!

I got all my answers to what I should do from the film!

Yea I won't forget the article. But have you seen the film? (PS: WTF my sig won't work. It is limited and won't allow html span tags for adding colour...)AVTN 15:18, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Sivaji: The Boss edit

Hi! Sorry if I offended you in anyway. However, I had noticed that the article was too voluminous. It contains too much of speculated, rumoured information. I was simply trying to go by the guidelines posted in the talk page of the article. I'm really sorry if any of my edits were out of place.

These were a few pointers that I was trying to focus on:

  • Copyediting, style and grammar - some of the sentences were overtly long and difficult to understand.
  • I created the listing for the cast since it was suggested on the talk page (I checked out the article for Casino Royale and tried to model it after that - but since I knew nothing about the roles played by the various actors, I assumed that if I made the simple list, then others could expand each actor's bit :) )
  • Reducing the soundtrack section to the suggested three paragraphs (wasn't able to complete this though :D )
  • Removing content which was irrelevant to the nature of the movie

From my point of view (and in my defense) I really was only trying to help reduce the size of the article. Maybe if we move all the rumours, speculation and other issues related to the movie to a separate article - that might help, then?

Once again I'm sincerely sorry. Just didn't realise that my edits were harmful. Please feel free to reply to me on my talk page. I will refrain from editing the Sivaji article page until we come to an agreement on the edits that I've done. --- aJCfreak yAk 17:58, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS: I'm actually gonna be logging out sometime soon. If necessary, I wouldn't mind discussing each paragraph with you and coming to a consensus - tomorrow.

Ummm. Was just going through the reverts that you've done and realised that you've not "blanket" reverted all my edits. Thanks. Secondly, just realised that I made my last edit AFTER all your reverts and your warning. This was a freak case cos I'd left the editing page open and had gone to get dinner, within which time you'd edited the article and left the message on my talk page. Please revert the last edit, if necessary. I'd be happier if we could discuss the changes required to cleanup the article across talk pages and reach a consensus to work together. Anyways, it's your call now. Happy wiki-ing, all the same! aJCfreak yAk 18:22, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
So sorry to bother you again, but I just thought I'd let you know that I'm trying to get the Image:73417053 9cf7fb3494 o.jpg image renamed and tagged with the appropriate license. aJCfreak yAk 18:45, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi again edit

Since the Sivaji article is in my watchlist, I couldn't help but notice that all of the images in the article have been removed stating that they violate copyrights. I've already included the necessary fair-use tags and the sources to Image:2005112908090201.jpg and Image:Sivaji firstday.jpg.
If you could simply add the source (and change the fair-use template to the correct one, if necessary) to the following images, then we could re-include the images to the article. Else, the images will be deleted pretty soon.

  1. Image:Sivajimusicshop.jpg
  2. Image:Sivajibald.jpg
  3. Image:Rajinikanth_kamalhaasan.jpg
  4. Image:Sivaji-05.jpg

I could do it myself, but I do not know the source from where you/AVTN obtained the images.

If required, please check out copyright tags and the image use policy for complete information what tags to use and the like. Sure hope we can settle these images so that we could include them in the article again. -- aJCfreak yAk 07:20, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the recent edits to the article, I really feel that the editors are trying to add value to the article. If we look at the whole article from an objective POV, (and also considering that we want the article to get a GA rating, if not an FA in the not-too-distant future) some of their edits were necessary. The points that really stand out are:
  1. Reliable sources for references. According to WP guidelines, we can't use blogs and we definitely can't use YT videos. We need to work on that.
  2. Copyediting, style and grammar. Seriously, we need to majorly work on this bit - else the article will get only a B-rating when we nominate it for peer review.
  3. Lengthy. The article is too long. I know that we have a LOT of info about the movie that we could include in the article, but if we could tone it down to only what is necessary and keeping in tone with the movie, then I believe we could reduce the size. Also, we might discuss the possibility of splitting the whole thing into smaller articles.

Finally, I'm slightly confused by the two messages you left on my talk page (the second one replacing the first). You first mentioned that you're not happy with what I did with the photos. Please lemme know what exactly I did wrong. All I remember is trying to re-align the pictures in the article according to Wikipedia's Image usage guidelines. I also renamed a photo and tagged it with the appropriate licensing/sourcing information.
You've then replaced that message saying we need to stop them. Does this mean that I can be involved with the Sivaji project again? Please let me know. I won't touch the page until you're completely happy with my intentions/edits/explanations. Till then, happy Wiki-ing! aJCfreak yAk 11:47, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sivaji: The Boss edit

I don't believe there were mass changes being made to the page. Please read WP:OWN. People are going to be edit the article, so your best bet is to discuss on the talk page if you think someone is making an incorrect edit. Please don't just revert everyone's additions, and then re-insert them manually, since that is just wasting time. Also, it seems like you added back all the changes I had initially made to the article. Thanks, and keep up the good work on the article. Nishkid64 (talk) 15:24, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Plot edit

I think we should wait since many indians view the article and many haven't seen the film yet in Tamil Nadu. I am part of the Rajini e-fans association and they have put a rule on thier group not to talk about the plot until 1 week after the release. So I think we should wait til thursday. Besides I am seeing the film again next wednesday and the saturday after that. AVTN 08:59, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nice work on the humungous amount of good data on Sivaji. You should probably spend more time cpediting and trimming out some fringe details to make this an FA. Good luck. Lotlil 17:50, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm currently working on a couple of other articles, so I may not be able to contribute heavily. But I see that the article is in good hands now. Kalyan and you should be able to bring it to stability. I do want to point out that some of the sources may be considered non-RS. The talk page to-do box lists behindwoods.com as non-RS. Then there's kollywoodtoday.com and a few other web sites that look fishy to me. I suggest you try and establish their reliability or find alternate sources for the information that you want to ascribe to them. Or may be start a thread on the talk page listing out all your sources and ask for opinions from people as to what can be considered RS etc. Lotlil 22:53, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your comments at Vimalkalyan's talk page edit

Regarding [2], please be aware that we were only improving the article. There were a number of false references that did not corroborate with the text they were placed next to. Also, a number of sources did not meet WP:RS, which is Wikipedia policy. There were many flow issues in the article, and all I did was clean it up. Please don't treat the page as your "own" article. This is Wikipedia, and everything we do here is a collaboration. Also, in regards to [3], please remove the scroll box. In accordance with [4], the scroll format for references shouldn't be used for Wikipedia articles because not every reference will show up in the hard copy of the article. Sivaji (pre-production) edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Sivaji (pre-production), by Anwar saadat (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Sivaji (pre-production) fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

spam. Contains duplicate and trivia already available at Sivaji:_The_Boss

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Sivaji (pre-production), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 12:25, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sivaji (film) edit

Sure, but please ensure that you bring in data which is sourced from non-gossip websites. I have an idea for the acceptability of data that people might contest otherwise and hence please don't introduce any non-controversial data. Also, focus on the all-round elements of the movie (like skin grafting ; usage of ballon lighting etc). --Kalyan 11:00, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
the data you have added does not meet our requirements. Give me atleast 12 hours and i shall clean-up these sections to more encyclopedic content (For Eg: battle with Dasavatharam is more gossip in nature than encyclopedic! If it needs to stay - the info needs to come from mainline news agencies rather than gossip websites). --Kalyan 11:55, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have a request - please don't modify any data that i add/change without letting me know. i find it frustrating that i edit a section and a few hours later, you have modified it back to a different data. Let us discuss before we keep undoing each others work. Case in point - the lead section talks of the estimated budget being 70 to 96 crores, based on estimates from various sources and articles and i find that you have changed that data. I am reverting back to 70 to 96 crores and if you have a good reason to change it, discuss it either in the talk page or leave me a note and after we discuss and agree, you can implement the changes. that way, we are not stepping on each other's toes. --Kalyan 15:28, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks... edit

For the goodbye. Well, I'll be off then. I just come here to talk to people a bit now. ^_^ AVTN 15:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

sivaji - why the changes? edit

  • Cast comes before plot. unless you know who'z part of the cast, how can you explain the plot
  • Wikilink in plot section. please read Wikipedia's Manual of Style. You should avoid wiki-linking any article more than once. Since rajini, shriya, suman and every of the cast is wikilinked in the lead para, you need not wikilink once again
  • I am revert back the lead para to what i wrote. please don't change it unless you can explain each of the changes

in the current form, this article will never make GA or FA. please let me know what is important to you - sticking to your stance about the article or getting this to GA/FA? --Kalyan 15:44, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sivaji edit

Boss, I thought you guys were making progress... why did you have to add all of those sections again, without cleaning them up first ? I think you should revert back to Kalyan's last version before you made those additions, then clean up one section at a time in your sandbox or somewhere.. and then add it to the article. The way it is right now, the article is only inviting a whole bunch of tags. And, one more thing: when you replaced the lead portion with your own version, you removed some citations which were also being referred elsewhere. Those are all gone now, which is why Gnanapiti is questioning many claims in the box-office section. Lotlil 04:49, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Suman (actor) edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Suman (actor), by Scarian (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Category, Infobox, and Script Removals edit

Hello Universal Hero. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Recently, I have noted that you have removed a large amount of Urdu scripts and categories from Bollywood film articles. I am sure you were not aware that this issue was discussed in length here, among other places and it was decided that Urdu scripts etc. are indeed relevant in Bollywood film articles. It is helpful to understand the relationship between Hindi-Urdu and Bollywood when dealing with this subject area. Several Bollywood film covers that utilize Indian scripts give the two standard registers of Hindustani: Hindi and Urdu. You can take a look at some of these film covers yourself: Image:Awaaraposter.jpg, Image:Waqt 1965 film poster.JPG, Image:Sholayposter2.jpg, Image:Padosan film poster.jpg, etc. Other reasons are provided in the archives of Talk:Bollywood. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in the matter. With regards, AnupamTalk 00:04, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello Universal Hero. Yes, speakers of North Indian (Indo-Aryan) languages probably have a better understanding of Bollywood films because their languages are all based on Sanskrit, from which Hindi/Urdu developed. The language of Bollywood movies can be called both Hindi or Urdu. Perhaps the A Little About Language section in this article will give some insight on the entire situation. Please also see this article, which also addresses the usage of both Hindi and Urdu scripts in Bollywood film articles. There is a section in the Bollywood article which contains a section on Asia. Please feel free to edit the article as you see fit. I hope this helps! Thanks again for your reply. With regards, AnupamTalk 16:49, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have still not explained why you intentionally entered incorrect copyright information. I am oblidged to issue this warning GameKeeper 11:44, 3 August 2007 (UTC).Reply

R. Madhavan edit

In this diff you reverted my edits. You can disagree and it's OK (although I think you had to discuss it and respect the fact that I'm a user like you are). The only thing now is that you removed the MOSLOW tag. Please don't remove it until the films will be ordered in chronological order. If you are not aware of this, stick to the page indicated in the tag. I usually immediately correct tables when I see thse problems and you can see that in my edits, but I'm busy now.

An example:

  • film (2006)
  • film (2005)
  • film (2004)

The right way to list the films is:

  • film (2004)
  • film (2005)
  • film (2006)

BTW, in the page, it's written more than once that Madhavan was nominated for the National Film Awards. Do you have a proof/ref indicating so? --ShahidTalk2me 23:40, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Of course, I ADORE him, I've seen his films and he's one of the best, undoubtedly. He is now set to star with my favorite - Preity Zinta in a film and it's great. Thanks for the compliment regarding my user page. As per the MOSLOW, I will do it myself now. My best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 20:39, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The only site where you can find free images is flickr.com. I will look for. --ShahidTalk2me 21:24, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeh that's the same thing I'm trying to do with Preity Zinta's page. --ShahidTalk2me 21:27, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just came back from India... edit

And, I'm coming back to Wikipedia. Although not editing as much as at my peak, I will edit quite a bit. I see your having some problems of your own now? AVTN 19:26, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Veerappu edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Veerappu, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://pstl.in/tamil3.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 11:14, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

image correction of copyright notice edit

Image:Madhavan debut.jpg has a copyright section taken as you say from Image:Chopper-Bana.jpg. But Image:Madhavan debut.jpg has not been cropped down it is 1024x768 pixels, so

3 The screenshot has been cropped, and is of lower resolution than the original film (copies made from it will be of inferior quality).

is not true. Can you crop this picture and can you confirm the other copyright info is correct. In particular

2 The image is a screenshot from a promotional film trailer and intended for wide distribution.

, and you might want to correct

5 No free or public domain images have been located for this actress or this film.
