New Mexico State University

The NMSU page includes a template at the bottom that states, "New Mexico is the worst placve in the world". I doubt that is true, but I cannot figure out how to edit it out. Maybe you can?

Demographics

Hello, I don't know the official way to do this, but how can the race demographics add up to over 100%? Since you seem to be in charge of this page, maybe you can do something about it. Thanks for taking the time to comment at Wikipedia:Peer review/Benjamin Franklin High School (New Orleans, Louisiana)/archive1. I have responded to some of the comments. Some of the issues are due to confusing aspects, such as what the Louisiana Department of Education really uses to convert SPS to stars, the actions of the New Orleans School Board, and why the school keeps being called different titles by multiple sources ranging from "magnet" and "charter" to "city-wide access" and "public elite". Your statement of "unsubstantiated bragging" is most disheartening to me because I based my work squarely on the concept of Wikipedia:Verifiability. Hi,

JWilliems put up an image of the new LAHS sign and removed the traditional LAHS logo from the Los Alamos High School article. After a mere seven days you speedy deleted that logo of LAHS, citing that it was nonfree and had been orphaned. Then you reverted all of JWilliems edits to the article and deleted the image of the new sign, never restoring the logo. In collaboration with the alleged vandal JWilliems, the end result of your "vigilance" is that now we have lost the image of LAHS's logo.

This isn't the first time that your actions have resulted in a completely avoidable loss of information. The image of the topperman mural on the LAHS page is another example of an image that was nearly lost because you preferred speedy deleting rather than working with authors to bring proper copyright labeling to the page.

What was needed in these instances was for somebody to take a look at the copyright and the article, and make a sensible suggestion. Instead of leadership we got a trigger happy automaton who speedy deletes everything and makes other authors clean up his mess.

Maybe before you speedy deleted toppers.png, you should have taken a moment to find out whether or not it should have been orphaned in the first place. As an author, its annoying when people are deleting entirely legitimate images upon the flimsiest pretext. Ryan Utt (talk) 03:49, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

NNAA Templates

Hi Uncia,

I try to maintain the LAHS page, but I usually don't have time to work on wikipedia on anything approaching a regular basis.

Recently the NNAA 4A template was deleted. I think this was a mistake. The template was a navigational aid because it allowed you to see very quickly which high schools played against each other most often. I understand there were some concerns because the NMAA categorization is claimed to be different for different sports, but I still think those concerns could have been addressed with some minor cosmetic changes.

The template was deleted citing "consensus" but few people submitted opinions in the debate and they disagreed. I'm hoping that we can achieve a real consensus between us that both restores the functionality of the template and also addresses your concerns. I also hope we can forestall the deletion of the NNAA 5A template for now.

It has been suggested that the templates as composed were only useful for basketball, but an examination of a typical school shows that the templates are broadly applicable. Examine, for instance, the NNAA's website for LAHS. You will see that LAHS competes in AAAA in every sport. Swimming is the only sport that is not strictly AAAA, but that's only because all swim teams compete against all other swim teams regardless of classification. Therefore this is consistent with it's AAAA classification, not an exception. A cursory examination of other AAAA schools shows the templates are broadly applicable with few exceptions.

I would like to work with you to create a new navigational template. How do you feel about that?

Alamogordo

Thank you for your suggestions and comments. Like you, I want to make the article nice. I don't mind a text form of notable residents but I saw some others cities and they all have lists. However, since you pointed out the correct way, that's educating me. As far as red links, I remember seeing a few weeks ago about some people fighting over red links. The person who added them was called a troublemaker so I removed them to be the opposite of being a troublemaker. I don't mind the color red at all. A word about rules. There is supposed to be only a link the first time. So if some railroad is linked, the first time, it gets a link but not when the word is used another time. However, I am focused on improving the article and won't get to duplicated blue links until later. Together, I think we can make this article really nice! After some re-writing, I'm going to do some clean-up and then add new content. I'm excited about it but it will take some time, probably weeks. About your GA concerns, stable doesn't meet no changes. Rest assured, we will work together to make it good. I will try not to change anything that's not needed. Also, others usually consider edit wars as not being stable but adding references and minor rewording of sentences is improvement, not instability. Dull and boring fix needed: The references are of different format. Some say "Retrieved August 22, 2009" and others use the format like "2009-08-22". I looked at the FA. This is unacceptable. 1) Yes, definitely a problem. The thing that interests me is that it's taken so long to emerge as one - most problems of this sort become evident quickly. This worries me, because it makes it harder tot rack down. In the meantime, I guess people (inc me) will just have to tidy this up. 2) Is it really so bad? The logic for fixing this sort of thing would be by necessity quite complex (filtering the false positives) and I'm not entirely convinced it's a problem. Obviously, if more people came and said to me "That's a problem", then I might get round to looking at it :) .
