]] Kalangi River The the basin lies in Taluks of Srikalahasti and Sulurpet of Chittoor and Nellore Districts respectively of Andhra Pradesh. The Kalangi river rises from the Nagalapurarn hill ranges with its two major tributaries Gundla Madugu and Kaieru in Satyavedu Taluk of Chittoor District and flaws in a general easterly direction joining the Pulicot lake in Andhra Pradesh State. The basin which includes three sub-basins with a drainage area of about I 132 krn 2 with a course length of 71.9 km is located in the Survey of India Toposheet numbers 57 0110, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 66 C/2 & 6 on a scale of 1: 50000 and lies in between the north Latitudes 13' 24' and I 3' 5iS, and the east Longitudes 79' 37' and 80' 03' (Figure 1.1). Kalangi River near by pincode areas are 524121(Sullrpet) , 517541 ( Varadaiahpalem ) , 517640 ( Panagal ) and 517588 ( Satyavedu ) , . Near by railway Stations are Sullurupet (15) Km Akkampet(18)Km. It is in 37 Km distance to Srikalahasti City and 80 km to Tirupathi City.

Kalangi River is geographically located at latitude 13 ° 42′0 and longitude 13 ° 42′0

SOURCES OF INFORMATION< The Source of the data used in the analyses are: (i) Basin map: Basin map has been prepared from the toposheets published by Survey of India. 57 0110, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 66 C/2 & 6 on a scale of 1 :50000 (2cm=lkm). (ii) Rainfall data: The rainfall has been collected from Bureau of Economics and Statistics ~e~artment, Chittoor and Nellore. (iii) Meteorological data: Meteorological data such as temperature, humidity, wind velocityl sunshine hours and evaporation have been collected from Sri Venkateswara Agricultural College meteorologica~ station, Tirupati. (iv) Pumping and recovery, water levels data: This data has been collected from the reports published by Central Croundwater Board (C.G.W.$) Hyderabad, and Andhra Pradesh State Groundwater Department (A.P.S.G.W.D) divisional office, Chittoor.
