Conflict of interest & username problem edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "UKPolice", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website. Please note that Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or shared by multiple people. Please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 50.131.220.134 (talk) 23:35, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

My Talk Page makes it clear that i am not connected to any group and act as an individual. Who are you by the way?

Adding a note to your userpage does not make you exempt from the guidelines. 50.131.220.134 (talk) 00:36, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

My username is not "promotional or shared by multiple people", so does not flout the guidelines. Discuss.

Hi, UKP. Thanks for editing. Just happened to see your note here. I should say, off the bat, username issues are quite interpretative indeed so it's common that borderline cases like this are brought up. Hope you haven't felt bitten too much; we'd definitely like you to stay. If I were to offer my own opinion - I don't think your username is a blatant, blockable problem. There are certainly much worse ones out there, and you have stated directly that you are editing as an individudal, which we are obliged to take your word on (in other words, I believe you). Further, I understand that UK law enforcement does not specifically and centrally operate under the title of 'UK Police' (but what do I know, as an American!), which is a point in your favor. It is, however, likely that this issue may be brought up several times again because people will misunderstand, so in the simple interest of sanity you may be compelled to rename your account. I do hope this helps, and let me know what you think. NTox · talk 22:13, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi NTox. I tend to agree with you. What really gets me is the arrogance of this unamed guy who just thinks he can impose his will on us.—UKPolice 23:10, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the content and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. You are welcome to rephrase your comment as a civil criticism of the article. Thank you. 50.131.220.134 (talk) 23:20, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK - please just answer this question. Do you not feel that using "we" when talking about your opinions (quote "we would like to remind you") is an example of your arrogance?

Given that you are complaining about templates created by the Wikipedia community specifically for the purpose of warning people who make bad edits, no I don't. Do I think that some brand new editor who thinks that Wikipedia should make an exception for hir might be? Hmmmm.... 50.131.220.134 (talk) 23:30, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK - I'm new to this so I'm not aware of the (strange) customs. I'm willing to apologise, Mr or Ms Unamed Editor. UKPolice 23:39, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

File:Plaque.jpg edit

Can you reupload your image using a different filename when you upload it. File:Plaque.jpg is already used and the image is being used in an article. Loading your image file over the top makes nonsense of the link in that the image and context to the linked article don't match. Thanks. NtheP (talk) 21:08, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Done. Thanks.UKPolice 18:45, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Churchill.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Churchill.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SuperMarioMan 18:10, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Thomascollinsplaque.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Thomascollinsplaque.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SuperMarioMan 18:24, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Plaquethomascollins.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Plaquethomascollins.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:05, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:WoodhouseSchoolSong.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:WoodhouseSchoolSong.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 12:51, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:BlueThomascollinsplaque.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:BlueThomascollinsplaque.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:10, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
