How can we see/pick from the Userboxes designated as belonging to User:UBX ? --Lexein 21:57, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

I Want My Userboxes Back!

Unsubst?

Brilliant idea

For the {{User UBM UBX to|1|2}} couldn't we just change it to, instead of having the user retype the non-template:user template name just user {{BASEPAGENAME}} or {{PAGENAME}}. -PatPeter 17:38, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Have a look at this edit[2]. 2 problems; "User:UBX" implys that it is more official (why can't you host them on your own account?) and the UBXs were already hosted on a willing user page. Flat Userboxes

Userboxes come in different styles and colors but are big and clunky.

This is a flat userbox. It uses less space.

You can have lots of pretty colours. Or not.

Great userbox idea

Some of you may have heard about the whole Chris Benoit case with the Wikipedia editor. Well, he vandalized Wikipedia, and what happened? He could face a lot of prison time, and his computer was seized by the police. So, the idea of the userbox is this:

This user knows you could get in trouble with the police if you vandalize Wikipedia.

Something like that, but wittier, and a link leading to story. I dunno what picture should be used, though. What do you guys think? I'd make it, but I dunno how to :'( Xihix 02:07, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Sure, either one or both is good, and feel free to host it in your own userspace or in User:UBX's, but to avoid any allegations of being a central repository, I would prefer that host it in your own. While I do personally believe that these pages maybe should be deleted, I do not feel it best to simply speedy delete them, as such speedy deletions have been the cause of many problems in the past. I'll nominate them for deletion if they can't be deleted otherwise. However, they have been created by an indef blocked sock on your userspace, so I guess you are at the moment responsible of them. If you don't want the responsibility of either holding or deleting this content, could you rename them to my userspace please? Since UBX is your account, if you don't hold responsibility over the content of its userspace it ceases being a userspace and becomes another template namespace, and that would be problematic because on a deletion conversation it would be treated as a userspace. Fair use image

Rotary Dial

I went ahead and took the existing User:UBX/Rotary Dial user box and created a series of them User:UBX/Rotary Dial-1 to User:UBX/Rotary Dial-4 with the existing one the same as the level 1 box, because I wanted the level 3 box I created. WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum

Hi UBX/Archive 1,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

• Each casebook will have a subpage.

• Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
• It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
• Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.

• I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.

2. If you're a law student,

• Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
• Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.

Error in alcohol userboxes

You list the chemical formula for alcohol as C₂H₆OH, when it is in fact C₂H₅OH (or C₂H₆O, but the former is preferred as it unambiguously shows ethanol as opposed to dimethyl ether). --Mark PEA (talk) 17:18, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Confusing, not fair wiki use

I'm new to wiki and thought that I have to store all my created userboxes under User:UBX. You're trying to use other wiki editors in a manipulative way to full fill your own ambitions. That's not fair. If you're not trying to do that, then why does User:UBX has resulted in duplication of functions of Wikipedia:Userboxes#Gallery? It gives indirect message and obligation to store userboxes under User:UBX; see also 'A userbox (commonly abbreviated as UBX)' on Wikipedia:Userboxes. Category suppression

See User talk:Areldyb#Problem with Category:Russian Orthodox Wikipedians. The User:UBX/Userbox/Russian Orthodox userbox template does not implement category suppression. This causes Category:Russian Orthodox Wikipedians to be self-categorizing when it displays the User:UBX/Userbox/Russian Orthodox userbox template. We could fix this problem by adding category suppression to the template. See: User:Willscrlt/UBX/categories for the simple change that would be necessary. Category suppression automated

Many userboxes are created and stored here as "User:UBX/something", so these pages act like the "template space" for userboxes. Many of the userboxes contain some category so that users that put such a box on their user page get categorised.

But we usually don't want the boxes to categorise the page here where they are built. Userboxes that were built using the meta-template {{userbox}} already didn't get categorised here, except in some special cases.

But to further improve that category suppression we have now made it so {{category handler}} does not categorise when on User:UBX or any of its subpages. That is, we have added User:UBX to the blacklist in {{category handler}}. This means two things:

• Since {{category handler}} is used in {{userbox}} it now never categorises here under User:UBX.
• If you build a userbox without using {{userbox}} you can use {{category handler}} to neatly handle your categorising.

In most cases it is probably best to use {{userbox}}, but if you choose to use {{category handler}} directly, here's how you should use it:

| user = [[Category:Some user category]]  <!--Categorize in user space-->
| nocat = {{{nocat|}}}   <!--So "nocat=true/false" works-->

The reason I added "subpage = no" is that people often put their userboxes on a subpage that they then transclude into their user page. And we don't want all such users to be categorised twice.

I have now also made it so {{category handler}} prevents categorising on the talkpages of User:UBX (like this very talkpage you are reading now) and its subpages. That is, the talkpages of the userboxes here. Since people often demonstrate and discuss the userboxes on the talkpages here.

I'm a librarian, and I'd like a little userbox so everyone can tell that I'm a librarian and proud. I love the look of your book seller userboxes. So can I make a request? Can I ask for a librarian userbox in that style? Categorize (much) more

I currently have 28 userboxes but only have 11 categories reflecting those meaning 60.7% doesn't categorize. I assume to fix this I'd have to search for categories then link the deficient userbox with it. I don't know hoe to do either of those. Is there a way to incite categorization? New Userbox for Jewish

I don't know anything about creating these userboxes...however...I do desire one.

I am ethnically Jewish, born and raised...but not by religion. I'm a Muslim by religious beliefs, I'm a Jew that reverted to Islam. However, I'm proud of my heritage.

Is is possible to have a userbox that can reflect on this? Can anyone please create any of these following?

Maybe "ethnically Jewish"; Jewish-Muslim; Judaic-Islam; Judaic-Islamic; Judaica-Islam; Judaeo-Islamic; or "I study Judaeo-Islamic Sciences"....?
