File:19th Street & 11th Avenue NYC.jpg

edit

Before you read the warning below: I've changed the licensing of the file to {{db-author}} by which you release the photograph into the public domain (which is what you did in the case of File:19th Street & 11th Avenue NYC - Chelsea Piers.jpeg) because the latter is just a rotated version of the first. I will delete File:19th Street & 11th Avenue NYC - Chelsea Piers.jpeg which is of course useless because of its orientation). If however you do not want to release the image in the public domain, let me know and I'll delete it. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson (talk) 18:29, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on File:19th Street & 11th Avenue NYC.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with no fair use rationale uploaded after May 4, 2006 which has been tagged as not having a rationale for more than 7 days.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:19th Street & 11th Avenue NYC.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Permissions

edit

Hi, I do have permission from the Artists' Fellowship Director. It is a non-profit group, all the Board Members volunteer their time. I know that they have really zero internet presence and there are no other references available online except for their own website. So, how do we do this? It is a worthy group, around since 1859, artists helping artists. Thank you.UBU07 (talk) 23:30, 26 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

In order to do this, the copyright holder, not you, must formally grant permission under a compatable license for Wikipedia to use the material.

Here is some text:

holders and ask them to allow us to use it under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) or a CC-BY-SA-compatible license and, if possible, also the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts). See Wikipedia:Copyrights for more.

The main legal issue that is important to explain to potential contributors: they would be agreeing that their material can be used freely by Wikipedia AND its downstream users, and that such use might include commercial use, for which the contributor is not entitled to royalties or compensation.

And a link can be fond here.

It is important to understand, that only the copyright holder can grant permission to Wikipedia, and through doing so, grants rights to all future Wikiepdia users of the text, including for commercial purposes.

Here is a release guideline:

[1]

And, have the copyright holder, again, not you, but the actual holder of the copyright, send the directed release to: permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

And, that should take care of it. The text will need a lot of rewritikng, and, while I believe it is notable, there still may be an attempt to delete the article for non-notability. All this is just normal community process.

Let me know when the permission has been delivered, and I will help edit the article.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tonya Pinkins, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gotham. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
